Our precious dog Mochi got out Thursday evening through a hole in our fence. My husband and I searched our neighborhood up and down and were told that he was picked up by Kane County Animal Control. We appreciate that he is in good hands. My husband and I drove from Algonquin to Geneva at 8:30 AM on Friday to pick him up and we were informed that they are closed for Good Friday. Good Friday is not a recognized federal holiday. My poor baby can't come home now until MONDAY! No one was willing to help worried sick dog parents be reunited with their boy. I'm heartbroken to need to wait 4 more days to get my boy due to the lack of concern or understanding from Kane County Animal Control. He is in a kennel for Easter!!! This shows a lack of caring from people who supposedly care for animals. They wouldn't even confirm with a picture that it was him! I will be there first thing Monday to get my precious boy from these uncaring individuals.Mochi is a rescue!!! He is training to be a therapy dog!!!! He doesn't need to be traumatized by being in a kennel all weekend long when his parents came to get him!!!!!!!

Staff are awesome here. We have pulled several dogs for foster, and I really appreciate how candid they are with behaviors and medical concerns their team have noted. It's clear that they give the animals in their care as much love as possible and that their hearts are genuinely in the right place! Thanks so much to the staff here!

Called ahead to make sure they had a cat we were interested in. Asked the general questions about what was needed to adopt. One thing that was surprising was that they needed the full medical records of all the animals living in the house. Ummm really? We have adopted before and have a great vet but no one ask asked for our pet records just a reference. The other thing that surprised and bothered me was that they stop showing animals 30 minutes before closing. If this is listed on their website I couldn't find it. We ended up with a kitten that we love very much. When leaving another couple walked in BEFORE 30 minutes before closing and was waiting for us to finish our paperwork. Well when we were finished it was barely less than 30 minutes and guess what? They were told they could not see the animals. Seriously?!?! I was so upset. Had we know we would have finished our paperwork later. Overall not impressed with the staff that turns away adopters.

We adopted a dog last Thursday from the Kane County Animal Control. What an absolute pleasure it was working with " Techi" at the front desk. This woman was attentive to detail, kind, compassionate and a real professional. She and her staff made it possible to find the perfect dog for our family and lifestyle. " Frieda " aka " Grace", has made such a positive difference in our lives in the last 5 days. Thanks again.

My puppy was playing with me at 14 weeks, too young to get rabies shot. She got her tooth on the top of my hand and I got a cut. I went to the walk in and they reported my dog. So she had to be quarantined for 10 days. She came from a very reputable breeder. Just ridiculous!

I took my 3 cats to Animal Control for rabies shot for Drive-Thru. Took me over 1 hour waiting in the car with my cats. Only special promotion today (Oct. 14, 2020) from 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm. It made easier for people to stay inside their vehicle while they take dog or cat for rabies shot. Only take 5 minutes including paper work.

Animal owners, please beware. Our family dog had a seizure and bit my husband postictal. The bite required stitches and had to be reported. We complied with the county's rabies confinement directives and provided documentation to KCAC.On February 9, 2019 we were served with a Notice to Appear in court for failure to confine. On February 11, 2019, my vet's office re-sent documentation of confinement compliance, and just to be sure all bases were covered, I personally delivered a copy of the paperwork to the warden on duty at KCAC the same day. I was assured by the warden that this paperwork was what they needed to dismiss the case. He said he would send out paperwork to the DA to dismiss the case the following day.On February 19, 2019, the same warden called me and said he needed documentation of confinement; the same paperwork I had delivered on February 11th. He later called back and said he just received it via email. As a side note, this warden also told the technician at my veterinarian's office that he never checks his work email and to send the information to his personal email.Because of all the delays and mishandling of paperwork, I had to take the day off from work and appear in court. And, the final straw; initially the DA refused to look at my paperwork, wanted me to plead guilty, pay a $250 fine and go on three months court supervision. OR, if I thought I wasn't guilty, I could ask for a trial. Fortunately, I spoke with another DA and finally had the case dismissed. All of the above could have been avoided if someone at KCAC had simply done their job. We are very disappointed with how our case was handled and hope we never have to have another encounter with this county department ever again.

If you ever have the unfortunate luck of having to deal with Kane County Control regarding a aggressive dog indecent, hire a lawyer before you ever talk to anyone there. Certain people of authority completely ignore the laws and regulations set in place to protect citizens from false accusations and go out of their way to avoid helping you. When we questioned the unlawful behavior, we were told to call a lawyer, not answered at all or were yelled at and hung up on. Beware and prepare if you need to deal with these folks

My entire family and I met with Brett Youngsteadt recently. During that meeting Brett shared a story about a dog he once had. In that story he shared how proud he was about the level of control he had over his dog. That his dog knew better than to "act up" and if it ever did it knew it would be "sorry"for not behaving. He said this in a tone that expressed abuse and disrespect/disdain to animals, he had a sneer on his face when he said it. Each member of our family after leaving animal control talked about how we each felt chills and/or the creeps after hearing him talk about his pet in such a cruel manner. I had the most frightening thought after leaving the meeting with Brett, feeling fear for the poor strays/animals who make their way to Kane County Animal Control. He definitely left the impression he hates animals enough to be abusive towards them. The county has placed themselves at risk employing someone who has such power over helpless animals lives like Brett. If the County took actual responsibility for the wellbeing of animals they would/should look into Mr. Younsteadt as he is a liability for the county. Brett alone with these poor helpless animals is a nauseating unthinkable thought.I feel deeply for anyone who has to depend on KCAC and Brett for humane treatment or decision making related to their family pet, beware. Seek legal guidance, and by all means do not leave your pet overnight at KCAC if you can avoid it.

Horrible customer service, horrible management, they are so unprofessional and so unorganized, drove 45 minutes to adopt a kitten, waited an hour and a half for them to get things in order and ended with us leaving without a thing. What a waist of time! Don't recommend this place for anyone.
