Great Ice Cream! Great Service and Great Atmosphere! We had 7 kids and 2 adults. Service was quick, friendly and efficient! The kiddos loved their ice cream and the shop as a whole! Highly recommend! So many ice cream flavors!

Wonderful ice cream place, nostalgic feel and lots to choose on the menu. Just had a banana split, But others had shakes, and many other concoctions.Lots of really great flavors to pick from.We did overwhelm them with about 30 people in our group, but they did a great job of serving us in a timely manner and reserve the back room for us.

Love this cute little old style icecream shop. Hard packed ice cream in a waffle or dish. Seating inside and patio outside. Large portions of all variety of flavors.

It is a nice place and this was my first time going to Freeport. It deserves more. Seeing that it was a much larger town than it is now it makes sense of the condition this place is in. The people were friendly but it needs TLC.

The BEST ice cream I've ever had!!!! There's tons of flavors to choose from and they taste fresh!!! This is not store bought by any means!!! I had cherry cheesecake and it was real, tart cherries!!! I had a hot dog and cheese curds too and it was all fantastic!!! The staff is super friendly and it's super, and I mean super clean in there!!! The place looks like it's from the 50's and it's amazing how it all looks old but new at the same time!! Even the curb out front was decorated with ice cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles and cherries!!! 10 out of 10 would definitely recommend!!!

The food is ok. The sauce that comes with the sweet potato tots is too sweet. The seats in the main area lack padding .

I have been here many times over the last 30 years. The ambiance is just great! Took my kids for the first time and they got so much joy out of sitting and being able to watch the servers making the fancy ice cream desserts. I was also a bit shocked at how good the veggie burger was!

Excellent customer service, tasty ice cream and the price was very gentle on the pockets... What more can you ask for... I didn't try the food, so I'll update my review after I visit Union Dairy again.

Delicious ice cream, nice environment. A little too cold (temperature)... it's finally summer after all... it's uncomfortable to get to a place and feel that suddenly it's winter again... and we are dressed for summer. Music could be little softer, too... But the retro style of the place is nice, and the lady who prepared my banana split did a great job! :)

I can't believe I am leaving a 3 star review for a place that I have always loved, a real old-school soda fountain that always had traditional glass sundae/soda dishes, nice service, a welcoming feel.Just went and I was very sad to see a number of disappointing changes:- basically had to beg for glass dishes. The staff was clear that this was an imposition. Even then, I was given a plastic spoon.- all disposable cups.- big menu changes (no more marble sundae)- possible changes to the hot fudge and syrup (tasted like Hershey's)- we were booted out exactly at 8pm, and had to get to-go containers for our ice cream. Fair enough I guess, but this was supposed to be a very special trip with my daughter (a six year old who was slow to decide and eat) and we felt super unwelcome. It's also a change from the past, when customers were at least allowed to finish their treats.The entire point of this place was that it offered a traditional soda fountain feel with great quality ingredients. If I have to eat lower quality ingredients out of plastic, I may as well go elsewhere.Staff repeatedly informed us that there is new management when we expressed surprise or confusion about the changes. They seemed kind of on edge.I really hope that some of these changes are reversed. This has always been a must-stop for me but now I don't feel like I want to return. I'm sure that I am not the only one and I think it would be absolutely tragic if the Union Dairy were to close or become a shadow of its former self.

I love old-timey soda fountains. Have yet to try their grill, but love stopping here for ice cream. Great section of flavors you don’t see anymore in today’s ice cream shops like black walnut and black cherry.

Outstanding as always. Large group of us went in but young man was able to handle everything. We ordered menu items anx ice cream and had some confusion on when and how to order ice cream. Everyone was cool and had a good time.

When we stopped in it was VERY busy. I liked the older feel of the building. The ice cream was good and it was not a long wait. There was a small stepstool the length of the counter so children could see what was in the case. I do wish that there were signs in the front area saying where bathrooms were. Otherwise it was great to get ice cream and then walk the small park right next door.

Unfortunately our experience was quite unpleasant. Reading the reviews and history made this place seem like a gem! However, when we arrived, we found an extremely dirty and unsanitary environment. Within 15 minutes of arriving my one year old son vomited all of the lemonade he was drinking all over the counter, seat and floor. We cleaned the area the best with could with paper towels but staff did not come over to properly sanitize the area… a few feet from their food prep area. Additionally, we watched as multiple staff members stuck their fingers in various floats, food and ice cream then directly serve those items to customers. Not once or twice- I’m talking multiple orders tainted by multiple hands of at least 4 employees. I also saw the same number of staff members wipe their hands on their jeans, shirts and aprons and not once wash their hands. Upon returning home, my wife started vomiting that lasted about 24 hours and so did I. It felt like this place made my family sick and is in need of a refresher on food prep practices. Would not recommend to anyone.

Owners paid kids 5.50 bucks an hour to scoop ice cream then needed tips. McDonald's or Wendy's pays 12. Cute old place, lots of nostalgia and memories of exploiting their workers. Won't go back ever. Used to go all the time.

Closed on a sunday nite early so we couldnt get blue moon😡we were there before 7pm. Im from out of town so i didnt know what time yall closed there is no posted close time on either door.2 employees were in side looking at us from behind the icecream counter...we were going to buy quite a few things an some souvenirs

It was so disappointing. First time this year probably last time. Had a strawberry shake and you couldn't even tell it was strawberry. It was very close to closing but the restaurant was dirty and employee's were standing around doing noting but talking to each other. One other employee was scooping up ice cream and her long hair was falling into the ice cream cooler while she was scooping ice cream. Yuck. I thought they were supposed to tie their hair back

They now offer a limited menu. Order at the counter and they bring you your food The burgers were nothing special. We have been there many times in the past, not sure we will return in the future.

Great staff. Classic old-school jerk shop/scoop joint. Highly recommend!Everything about this place screams 1960. The stools, drop service area, signs on the walls with their menu. And the girls that work there. Where did they find them? They are all so nice. Five stars for that rarity.This place is a throwback in more ways than one. The atmosphere and pleasant staff is such a treat. It brings back to a simpler time. A time before the nightly news filled our evenings with gloom and doom. This place will make you smile, I promise!OH, and the ice cream and desserts are wonderful as well! Enjoy...

The service was terrible!!!! We watched our waiter walk out through the fire door. We waited a total of an hour for hour food. When we got the food it was cold, and tasted burnt. The manager did not care at all. Never approached us at all. Still had to pay astronomical we should’ve just paid for the drinks we waited 15 min for and left. We will not be going back!!!!!!

The best ice cream in all kinds of flavors. The medium cone is huge just a warning. I would have been okay with the child cone honestly. Loved the decor. Outside the curb is even decorated. The fries were delicious. We went for BINGO night with the family. This was our first visit but definitely will not be our last. I can't wait to visit again.

Our family went to the Union Dairy this afternoon and we arrived 10 minutes before closing time, I told the staff we were still waiting for another family that was meeting us there. The staff were all so kind, didn’t make us feel rushed at all. We were a group of 9. When the other family arrived at about 5 minutes to closing time our 5 year granddaughter could not decide which of 2 flavors she wanted. The young man helping her & I asked if she would like a taste of each of them to help her make her decision. Such a great group of young people working here!!

This place is awesome!!! We had just seen a movie downtown and wanted something sweet before heading home. I googled ice cream near me a d low and behold this place was minutes from the theater. It was a little busy because of it being Mother's day and all. However, we were able to get in and get our ice cream ordered relatively quickly. We all got 2 scoops in bowls with all of our scoops being different flavors so we could share. They really give you plenty of ice cream and I must say they were all delicious. We were already making our plans to return as we were walking out the doors to our car. We did see a menu on our way out and saw all the various sundaes, shakes and malts they offered. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

Favorite ice cream place anywhere, period. Price is more than reasonable, selection is fantastic and can’t beat cedar crest!
