I'f your looking for great nutrition for your dog or cat this is the pet store for you! If your dog is having health issues it's usually the food and good food is the best prevention for trips to the vet. Ask for Cameron he is super knowledgeable and patient when explaining the difference in dog food.

The owner Lisa is so amazing nice and awesome! You feel more than welcomed right when you walk in. She answers any questions you have about any product in the store! And you can bring you dog in! Or cat! I highly recommend if you are looking for healthy food and treats for your fur baby.

I found this place out of desperation, looking on line. I have a 3.5 pound Yorkie who is the absolute most finicky pup you will ever find. She refuses to eat dog food. Therfore I have to prepare all her food. I'm not a Canine nutritionist, but know that she is not getting the proper nutrients, vitamins and minerals that is needed. After discussing the feeding issues I was having with my little Shadai. A food was recommended to me for her. I just went today and will start the food transition tomorrow. But I was totally impressed by the knowledge and understanding of my issues. I highly recommend this place and will be returning hopefully for some more of her new food soon !

Best pet supply store in the Chicagoland area! Cameron has always impressed me with his self-educated intelligence, and I always look forward to our in depth conversations when I pop in at his store. I truly appreciate his help over the years, while we were trying to figure out which raw food mix was best in helping Princess with her pancreatitis, which she already had when I rescued her. I appreciate his patience throughout the whole process. I think it’s been a year or so since she had a pancreatic attack. She’s vibrant and full of energy at 7 1/2 years of age thanks to Cameron...and his mom! Keep on bringing the knowledge to pet owners empowering us, Cameron, so we make less visits to the vet. I’d rather pay a little more for quality raw dog food than have unhealthy dogs and pay more $$$ to the vet managing symptoms. You're both top notch!

I have been to many different pet stores and this is the only one that I can truly say really know and understand how to take care of your pet the best way! Their knowledge is unprecedented and they have many many natural ways to help your pet. I had a dog with pancreatitis and they helped me get the right food and she is doing amazing! Her tests came back with amazing results.I won’t go to any of the big box stores...this is my place for my forever pets!!!

Cameron is so educated on nutrition and health. He really takes his time when he speaks with you and you can tell he is passionate about learning more everyday. If I call with a question, he always tries digging deeper to the root of the problem, which is what we all need to do with our dogs! He has helped my dogs with a couple ailments already with natural ideas and recommendations. He doesn't care about selling, he just cares about helping. Who wouldn't want to support such an amazing business?!?

The owner of this store is so incredibly knowledgeable and you can tell he cares about the well being of his customer’s pets. Our dogs got very sick from a “big brand” dog food, and he was able to help us nurse our dogs back to health with his nutrition suggestions. I highly recommend this store!

My dog loves going to visit! The store has a great selection of food and health items and the staff is excellent! I found their line of CBD oil to be more effective than prescription medications we tried for joint pain. So glad they are in my neighborhood and dedicated to pets!

I feed my dogs frozen raw prey diet, finding food can be very difficult. Luckily I stumbled across Healthy Hounds!!! Not only do they carry a brand of food I can feed my dogs but Cameron has been a tremendous source of information. I have been shopping at Healthy Hounds in Flossmoor since at least 2010 when I adopted my Irish Setter and then a Greyhound. It has always been a small family-owned pet boutique that caters, as the name suggests, to the health of our beloved pets. The owners actually work in the shop making themselves available for brainstorming on the support of a customers pet to taking suggestions of all kinds. They also offer their customers cost saving opportunities that the major stores cannot, or will not.

I found Healthy Hounds quite by accident when I was researching healthier food options for my middle-aged pups that were having nit picky issues with their eyes, coats and digestive systems. I initially tried a very good no grain dry kibble and that did wonders but my schnauzer was still having some issues. I did talk to the owner about feeding raw but was somewhat hesitant to pull the trigger. The owner recommended lots of sources of information for me to read on my own as well as provided me with samples for my pups. I eventually started feeding both dogs raw for a bit of time but eventually had to leave it due to cost and having to travel more with my dogs to assist my sisters with my parents out of state. Raw was no longer feasible. With one dog being a finicky eater store personnel have helped me tremendously with finding a food that works for both dogs. I eventually settled on the Fromm’s canned supplemented with the Fromm’s dry. But this is after going through a bit of the raw brands & then the freeze dried. Stella & Chewy’s is wonderful stuff according to my schnauzer. Grandma Lucy’s is absolutely to die for according to my Shih Tzu diva dog.What I love about this store:-They have an interest in good pet care as well as maintaining a profitable business- They have lots of information about pet nutrition and are very eager to share that information with you without being preachy- They know their products very well and can help you source what you need for your pets.- They have a wide selection of high quality foods available.-They do have samples. A good option for picky dogs.- Dog cookies that my pups love dearly.I recently learned that my 16 year old schnauzer has a heart murmur and the vet suggested a switch to a purina brand. I still have the vet because she’s wonderful with my dog and my desire to let him age gracefully, in comfort and with a good quality of life. But we do not agree & probably will never agree on food choices. I use the guidance and information I receive at Healthy Hounds combined with my own research to keep my pups healthy and to minimize vet visits.Since I’ve been using foods from this shop my schnauzer no longer has bouts of pancreatitis and the weepy eyes of the diva are no more. Good quality foods make a huge difference and understanding which food is best for your pet is essential. Navigating brands and recalls is not something I should have to focus on, working with the staff at Healthy Hounds really does cut down on some of the guesswork and waste.Yes, the food is a little expensive but multiple trips to the vet are also expensive and caring for a pet with digestive issues is not fun for you or your pet. There are many options available at Healthy Hounds and I was able to find an option that fits my budget & keeps both at the correct weight.I did store brand foods and over immunized my first schnauzer and while she was happy she had many issues that could have been better managed with the right diet. I regret that my ignorance may have prematurely ended her life. But I’d like to think I’m a smarter person when it comes to my dogs and Healthy Hounds has assisted with that.It is worth it to take the time to get to know this place, you will not regret it.

If you’ve been looking for a “ go to” in the suburbs for HEALTHY food and treats for your pet you must go to Healthy Hounds! They have every variety that is not offered at Petco or Pet Smart. I feed my dogs Raw and there is No Better place to get it! Friendly and Family owned they are very knowledgeable and helpful. Easy access in downtown Flossmoor. You won’t be disappointed!

We always have a great experience here. They steered us towards Pure Vita years ago and chatted with us about why. Nutrition plays a key role in keeping a dog healthy in our opinion, so we appreciated this. We've always kept our Standard Poodle and Pittie at good weights and between that and the extra glucosamine in the food they recommended, our 13yo still jumps on the bed Our Pittie did as well until about 14 when he developed cancer along his spine. I'm so appreciative to Healthy Hounds for helping keep my fur kids healthy and happy into their senior years!
