Cashier told me it's against company policy for them to call police even after she and several other customers heard a man threaten to shoot me when I leave the store!I was in Fairview Heights store 4/11/24 and got into averbal altercation with another customer (older Caucasian male. I only list that, b/c he used stereotypes and racist language towards me). One of the cashiers asked us to stop or we would be asked to leave. I stopped but the other customer continued. The cashier told the gentlemen she has the right to refuse him service if he did not stop. The gentleman got even more upset and stated he was going to leave and wait for me to come outside and shoot me. I asked the cashier did he sayhe was going to shoot me? She said yes, that's what he said. Mind you, other customers also heard this threat upon my life. I asked her to call the police and she stated they are not allowed to call the police but I can. I told her I left my phone in the car (which I had) but she still did/would not call the police. I had to get another customer to call the police for me! Not only did she not call the police, but once the gentleman left the store, he was allowed to re-enter. It's disheartening that my life was threatened yet the cashier did not call the police due to "policy." Not only was my life in jeopardy, but so were the lives of other customers and even the staff! I have reached out to Ruler Food Cooperate Office several times to see if this is actually their policy and have yet to receive a response. The police have reached out to Ruler Food in Fairview for the video, but Ruler Food has yet to respond and have not returned the detective's calls. Since I no longer feel safe and Ruler Food has gone code silent, I can no longer patronize this business. Sad, because I was in there weekly!

It's okay, just a very basic grocery store. No bakery, deli or frills.The prices on the basics (bread milk cheese and eggs) are very good.I only rated it 3 stars because the variety of products are very limited.Most of the produce was in good condition.The meat looks good and the prices are very competitive.

They have great prices, and they greet you with a hello, and at the end of your transaction, they say, "Have a nice day." I do tired of the lack of courtesy. I work long, hard hours, and if it wasn't for the customers, cashiers would not be necessary. I get so irritated when cashiers act like I've walked up to a self-service counter. Thank you for providing great human interaction.

1st time here! We came to get some snacks for our soccer game tomorrow, but was only able to get half of them. Definitely not like a regular grocery store. My husband said it best, more like an ALDIs.Put in our Kroger card number since we live by a Kroger store but we didn’t receive any discount here.

Good produce here. There are several options for a reasonable price. The store is smaller than other grocery stores, though,you can get most things that you're looking for. Service is helpful. Carts are found outside and cost a quarter that would be given back one the cart is returned.

I like shopping here. Although their stock is limited to the store size, they have a nice variety of items. It may not have many options of brands to choose from per item but I can usually find what I need and at a good price. I have found rather than stock 20 brands of an item they may only stock 2-4 quality brands, which is fine by me. I would rather have 4 good items to choose from than 20 of the not so great with 1 good one on a shelf. I often try their Kroger brand (Ruler foods is same company) and find that the quality is better than name brands I was used to, especially their foods. Although having a quarter to use a shopping cart is inconvenient, and the fact the checkers will not put your items in the bag your brought with you & placed in the cart while they put scanned foods in the cart receiving groceries already so you have to bag them yourself unnecessarily, they seem to have fast checkers (although I have never seen more than 2 at a time), and the prices are spot on. The staff is always helpful and in a good mood. Unlike other nearby stores, the produce is very fresh.

Super thankful for the Fairview Ruler. I'm pleased with the Fairview one but if we could get the one in Belleville fix and opened, that'd be great.

I take 2 friends shopping at rulers twice a month, I visit it same twice a month. Belleville store looks like permanently closed due to mine subsidence. That is what I read.

Haven't been to Ruler in awhile, decided to stop in today for some quick groceries. Some of the prices are more expensive than Target and had an encounter with a very rude employee. I'll definitely do my future shopping elsewhere from now on.

Great products and prices however there are never enough cashiers. It is not unusual to wait 20 minutes to check out. Unlike Aldi where they press a buzzard to get more help when the line gets long, Ruler Foods just makes you wait.

Rulers is amazing, Saves me money and the are very friendly and helpful. The cashier was very helpful in pointing out how I could further my savings and gave me a great advise on a few things to do some of my products I was purchasing.

This discount grocery store has a nice selection of products, mostly "Kroger" brand (their parent company), though they do offer a limited amount of "brand name" items. They have a good selection of produce, and also organic foods under their "Simple Truth Organic" brand. There is not only the usual grocery store staples of boxed, canned, and frozen foods, but also special buy seasonal merchandise. To finish off your meals, they also offer a great variety of wine and beer. They have weekly ads, so there is always something on sale.

When they first opened it seemed to be fairly decent but now it seems like every time I go they are always out of the things I need and the selection is very limited anyway. Like today, they had absolutely no lettuce at all. They had no packs of chicken breasts, and only 3 packs of burger. I mean who runs out of everything on a Monday afternoon. I never have that problem at Schnuck's or Dierburgs or even Walmart. I guess like anything else you get what you pay for.

My favorite store to shop. Used to shop Belleville/Swansea location but this one opened literally about a mile from my house. Friendly staff. Love Kroger branded foods. Meets most if not all of my shopping needs.

Lines can be long sometimes, but they are usually quick to open an extra one. Decent produce. Can't beat their prices on the staples...ie milk, eggs, bread, etc.

Love Ruler!! And the one thing they have over Aldi is they actually have motorized carts!!! The Aldi in O'Fallon only has one, & Swansea has none. Ruler has at least 3, maybe 4. SOO helpful!!!

I will never go back in there again .Zach the manager was yelling at and older lady . teller her to go shop at a different store if she doesn't like this one . and he was eating we'll he was cashing out people..when I asked the cashier for the manager's name she just looked at him and said please don't take her name she needs her job.
