Extremely nice place to visit. All sorts of groceries and sweets (candy, Ted Drewes Ice Cream, sodas) to choose from. If you forgot something on your way to Grafton I definitely recommend checking the store. Fair prices and seems like they have thought of all the items you may need. Owners are very friendly.

Historic general store with lots of history. Store owner very nice and shared a lot of his stores history. Elsah is a beautiful small town and the general store fits right in with all its history. I will be back!!

Super convenient for mostly non-perishable groceries if you live nearby, although they do carry milk, eggs and butter too. A neat place to visit if you’re traveling down the Great River Road looking for a snack or souvenir. It’s like going back in time. Owners are super friendly and can share the history of the building. Highly recommend.

Wow did we ever find an awesome hidden gem. This place is historically correct and still has the original counters and shelves. So cool! Its worth making the turn into a quite unique little village. You can almost feel the step back in time.

Delicious baked goods from St. Louis La Bonne Bouchee (good bite) and it's a general dry goods store. Clean. Friendly owners. It was fun to visit.

Every single item in this beautiful little store is selected with care... from the practical dish soap... to the fantastic pastries, bread and even Ted Drews Ice cream... I could go on and on. The owner is so nice and there are wonderful gifts. Such a fun, wonderful place.

Awesome, loved the place. I had some apple pie soda, tasted exactly like it and got bottle caps for my collection! Also there was a train model. overall it was awsomr and actually sells some items for considered general store

We stopped at the general store while travelling from St Louis to our home. The store has basic groceries and a lot of nice snacks, candies and gourmet sodas.The stores proprietor is very nice and extremely knowledgeable about the stores merchandise and about the town of Elsah. We picked up soft drinks for our trip and a McArthurs gooey butter cake (which, we were told, is the favorite gooey butter cake of the town of Elsah) This will be a regular stop for us when we travel on Hwy 100.

Quaint general store in Elsah. Great place to stop, take a break, get a snack and a drink.. Elsah sits along the great River road outside of Alton, Illinois. Beautiful place for pics in the fall and actually anytime of the year.
