This is the closest hardware to my house, but I rather drive the extra 5 mins. Because I feel like their stuff has been on the self way too long, they are dusty and sprays wont work, I purchased 3 cans $35ea for ceiling popcorn and they did not worked either.What I hate the most is that they follow you around the store from far away instead of asking if you need help.

First and last time I am coming here for anything. Really bad customer service , Came in to ask about a repair that I need to get done for my weed wacker as soon as the old white guy who was supposed to help me was giving me attitude and not being helpful at all . Worse experience ever . Nothing compare to the Ace customer service located In south Elgin on Randall

Really nice people. I got a good deal on an 8000 loomin flashlight my Lord it’s like a spotlight. I got a great deal on it and the ladies at the register were very nice.

They have what I need, but the few times I've been in, only one elderly lady was nice and helpful. The "kids" they have working there are unpleasant, unfriendly, and seriously don't want to be there working. The adults, for that matter, don't seem to care either, or at least who I encountered the few times I've been in. Management should talk to their employees about at least smiling and being friendly. What happened to "Ace is the place for your helpful hardware man"?? Did not find that here.

Locally owned and operated. Service is excellent- always very helpful and friendly. Right here, in town. I don't have to drive all the way across town to get what I need. If I need something, they usually have it, and I don't have to wander through a warehouse, looking for it.Very much worth shopping here. I highly recommend it.

I went in to look at some Benjamine Moore Paint Colors. Only disappointed that Benjamine Moore doesn't offer small Paint samples. I have a box full of paint samples that don't work. But those only cost me $5 ea. I'm not going to buy a quart size for a sample & find out it doesn't work!! I would spend a fortune on a box full of colors that don't work. It's not the fault of Ace Hardware. Back to Home Depot for samples. Btw...Pitsburg Paints doesn't offer small $5 samples either. Sorry Ace, I will go to your store for other items, just not Paint. I gave 4 Stars for other items I've bought at Ace Hardware.

Absolutely fantastic. These guys had the exact product I wanted, ready to go. The staff were all incredibly friendly and the three men who helped load the snow blower into my truck were excellent. Friendly, resourceful, and a big help. I will be going out of my way to shop at this Ace going forward.

Extremely knowledgeable employees! This location has everything! The only thing that I will suggest is that you take your lawnmower blade in to be sharpened right after you cut the lawn, unless you have a spare...They have to ship the blade over to the Crystal Lake location to get it sharpened, and they said it takes about a week for you to get it back...

Very bad experience, I bought a sink hose and was defected, I MAKE A MASS IN MY BATHROOM WITH THAT HOSE. and I took it back and the cashier Stella, didn't took it back because it doesn't have the tag, even with the resit, and I tell her the was a shame, she tell me that she doesn't care about it, really bad attitude, very sorry probably never come back only for a bad employee. yhank you.

Very clean; workers are professional. Was greeted immediately by an associate. He knew right where the item I was interested in was located.On a serious note. Be ready for "being helicoptered" by the staff. Not not sure why. Overall, earned its' five star rating.

Helpful service, good hardware selection. What the service doesn't know they make up for with sincere effort. The variety of hardware they carry was surprisingly large. I think they specialize in lawn and garden. They have a wide variety of services available too. Also, the closest large big box store is miles and miles away so they are very conveniently located on downtown Elgin, about a block or two north of the police station on Spring Street.

It's a good neighborhood hardware store but I've had to travel far afield to the big box stores to get items that I should be able to get at Ace. If they had the items needed I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra to patronize my neighborhood store but I have frequently found that alternative item suggested did not work for the project at hand.

The sales clerk, Irene was patient with me. I was returning a couple of padlocks and thought that I had the correct receipt. She actually printed out a duplicate for me and allowed me to get my refund. Who does that? Lol. Exceptional serive by any standards
