My Charley boy needed a playmate, so we went to JB's cattery. They have so many worthy cats from baby to senior. They have disabled kitties who also need homes.They have need of volunteers and donations, as well as foster homes. If you're near enough to Effingham, IL, stop in and show some love for the kitty furbabies!

This place does not know how to groom cats. My boyfriend and I have a 2 year old cat, Colonel Forbin, and he was definitely due for a grooming (a bath to help de-shed his undercoat and a nail trimming). We set up an appointment 3 weeks ago for today and the owner completely forgot we had an appointment, so I wasted most of my morning and afternoon waiting to be able to bring in my cat. We live 45 minutes from Effingham so when I set up the appointment we were assured they’d be able to bathe and groom Forbin and they were the only place even that close that grooms cats. As soon as we got there, she sounded and looked reluctant to take Colonel and stated that she’d try her best, even though Colonel wasn’t being hostile or very upset at all. About 5 minutes after dropping him off, I received a voicemail from the groomer saying she’d be unable to bathe Forbin, that he “bit and scratched her”, and we went straight back to pick him up. When we got there, the groomer took us to the back room where they had Colonel Forbin still in his carrier and told us she could only wash him if we held him. She also didn’t have any visible scratches or marks on her arms or hands (since she was wearing a tshirt) after she claimed that was why she couldn’t bathe him. It ended up being me giving my cat a bath in their sink, washing and drying him myself, because she almost refused to touch him. She didn’t end up charging me (because I had to do everything myself) and apologized for the inconvenience. But I just don’t understand how you can be a groomer/offer cat grooming/specialize in cat grooming and not be able to do it, especially to a cat as docile as mine. I’ll never be wasting my time with this place again.

The boutique was wonderful. Found several tops, jewelry and some unique masks (xmas gifts). There is a shelter with kitties of all ages. I must say the staff is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I will definitely return.

They are unbeliveable I needed to rehome a mother and 5 kittens they were full but within hour's they had several of their amazing, caring,cat loving volunteers who agreed to foster until they can be adopted This is a very worthwhile organization who need all the donations they can get please keep them in mind I made my first donation and will be singing their praises to all.
