Super cute place and staff on duty the night i went in back in august were great, patient, and helped suggest items. Came here after dinner and happy I did! Highly recommended if in the area for yummy ice cream treats!

Accidentally stumbled up on this little gem searching for a quick bite on the road trip home. This place is great! The ladies inside were great. The food was delicious and plentiful. Prices are fair. And although we weren't able to get any ice cream because we were 4 hours from home it looked amazing! I would highly recommend!

I only got the mini ice cream cone but it was delicious! The amount was perfect to soothe my sweet tooth. I tried the cake batter frozen yogurt and I highly recommend it in any size.

JUNE 2023 update: STILL WONDERFUL- and now much better location! Cute new place, shaded outdoor seating, not far off interstate for those traveling and STILL live French fries, beef burgers, ice cream and shakes! Best sloppy Joe and French fries EVER!... weeeelll and did I say GREAT ICE CREAM AND SHAKES ALSO?? Wonderful fun and food overall

We stopped and tried their tenderloin sandwich, fries, and a shake. The place was clean, and looked well maintained. The staff were not unpleasant, and our order was filled in a timely manner. Their prices are fair for this area.We loved the Tenderloin sandwiches. My wife got the regular, and I got a large. Not many places in this area have these available anymore, so we were happy to find a place that still has them. The fries were tasty, but a little too greasy. The shakes however were excellent. Overall, I'd recommend this place.

This is a top notch ice cream shop!!The kid working behind the counter was really nice and helped me and my kids pick out our order! The menu is awesome and the prices were really affordable! Can't wait to go back the next time we are in the area!

Nice "new" larger building now with a drive-through and a larger parking lot. Food and ice cream still is some of the best in town.The food can be a little pricey for certain things, but not much more than any other fast food restaurant in town. The food here has a much better quality and taste since it is made to order and not a fast food restaurant.Definitely a must go to if you are traveling in, through or passing by Effingham, IL!

I love, love, love their shake n mors and I've tried almost everything on their menu and never been disappointed! Wish they could stay open year round! I'd have a rocky road shake n more every day!!!

My friend and I stopped in for a quick lunch while we were in Effingham. We were very happy with our choices of a cheeseburger for her and a tenderloin for me. Both came with fries which were among the best I've ever had. My only complaint - and it's one I have about a lot of restaurants - is that the only choices of diet drinks are a cola, unsweet tea, or water. As a diabetic who doesn't care for colas and gets tired of tea, it's disappointing.

Well I waited almost 15 minutes to get my order. The people who came in after me got there ice cream before me. When I finally said something they hadn't even started mine kept giving me dirty looks. I also think they need to wear gloves when making the ice cream very unprofessional. I have never waited that long to get my ice cream

This favorite has moved 2 a larger location & has several tables under a roof. There r a few umbrella tables in front of the restaurant that r viewable from the street. Nice coastal feeling on the inside 4 u 2 order any of their items. They offer food options but I know them as a great ice cream place! Once inside it's confusing 2 know where u need 2 go 2 place an order & where do u wait 4 your order because inside is filled w/customers. This happens when it's nice or hot outside. And believe me, they do come! Maybe a number system wud help like at a deli counter.There r no tables 2 eat inside although there is room 4 some. But they do have restrooms inside. Their parking lot is HUGE. The workers r very nice & kind and they work their butts off!

Place honestly isn’t worth the hype the locals give it. Maybe the ice cream is since they have so many flavors and combinations. However the burgers at least are terrible. They were very dry and were obviously premade burger patties. If I’m going to be paying $6.00 for just a double cheeseburger I’d at least expect real beef. Would rather drive the almost hour to Mattoon to get some better quality food from The Burger King. I’m surprised this place managed to open up to a bigger location.

Love the ice cream. They have a coffee ice cream...in a mocha sunday... Amazing! My husband loves butter pecan. The ice cream scoop or soft-serve is excellent. They do make everything for you while you wait. Love this place. I highly recommend it.

I haven't had a "bad" experience, but I don't think it lives up to the hype that many people share. Brutal honesty: the food is not great (just okay in a "it's food" kind of way) and the ice cream is pretty good because they have so many different options. It's much better than the chain restaurants that serve ice cream and it's local; we would rather support local businesses.When I say the food is "okay", I'm not saying we won't eat dinner here, but I'd rather eat dinner somewhere else and come here for dessert. I also find it irritating when I get charged extra for ranch for my mozzarella sticks when I didn't get the marinara that is on the menu with them. At least put the marinara in with my order. Cheese on a burger should be melted by the time it's ready to be eaten, not still holding its shape.They have some really cool sundae combos that you should totally try. My daughter loves the unicorn sundae.

Homewood Grill has been around as long as I can remember. It has been a yearly ritual that I stop at least once every season, even though I have long since moved from the area. They are only open for part of the year which can make it more difficult. They have amazing vanilla custard. They make their own hard ice cream as well.

I’m from Indiana. I had to make a trip to Illinois and this little ice cream shop right here was one of the highlights of our little day trip. I had THEE BEST sloppy Joe I have ever had!! And the chocolate malt…to die for! We will be making this trip again and I will definitely make this place a “must stop!” And I don’t want to forget to mention that it took no time at all to get our order. Those workers were on it. They were busy the whole time we were there, but they were quick enough that the line never got too long!

Went to home wood grill today to try something new. It wasn't good at all. It was suppose to be ground beef on bun. Had no sauce just pickles and bread. Wow

Been a few years since I moved, I was overwhelmed with flavor of home, thank you, but next time I hope they have some breaded mushrooms that's what I really wanted. And my daughter enjoyed her first visit to my hometown ice cream stand.

I got a corndog and a chocolate shake. It was the best corndog and chocolate shake I've ever had. Something about the ice cream hits different. I think about this experience probably 1-2 times a week, it's kind of unsettling. I wish I lived closer.
