Would have gave a 5 star review if they would not have absolutely refused my request multiple times to fax their prescriptions for my dogs advantage multi to chewy for me, so I had to hassle with mailing them to chewy that made it take much longer to get my fur babies their needed meds! I even asked for them to have Dr Chad Ely to call me, they said they would and he never did nor return my request calls. So I changed over to a different local vet that would happily fax to chewy for me. This is sad because other than that they had been a wonderful vet clinic.

The staff is kind. The vet seems knowledgeable and up-to-date with current studies. She was willing to answer questions I had regarding the care of my cat. She kept him in his carrier so he wasn't as frightened of the situation as I have seen him when they remove him from his carrier.

I no longer recommend this business to ANYONE with pets. There was a time that I would have. However, they’ve chosen to expand their business to make more money, and no longer care about the wellbeing of their patients (your pets). My dog has a heart condition, and has been taking the same cheap tried and true medication for years. She’s older now, is (mostly) blind, and has a hard time getting around as she won’t put weight on her back left leg. She does not do well when around strange people or places - heightened anxiety and nervousness. Being around new people or in strange places only exacerbates her heart problem. The clinic is refusing to refill her prescription without an exam, because the exam would make them at least 3x more money than the medication would. Without her medication, my dog will die in pain. Trying to bring her in for an exam would almost certainly give her a heart attack, which would most likely kill her. As far as I am concerned, this business is committing gross negligence and is taking advantage (or trying to take advantage) of their patients/customers.Take your beloved pets somewhere else, to someone who cares! This is not the place!

I took my dog here to get his OFA hips done. Communication was extremely poor. They did not tell me to bring his vaccine records, his registration papers, and then when I showed up they told me they wouldn’t submit anything because there was “no proof that I owned him” because his registered name was different than his call name that I listed when I made an appointment. They did finally agree that I was his owner and not showing them a random dog’s pedigree after a lot of hassle.I also did not find out they never even submitted my x rays to OFA even though they took my money for them until weeks later when I called to ask, because I “never gave them papers”. I had already explained to them multiple times that his breed registry does not issue papers and it is not a AKC/UKC breed, they only have a pedigree database with a number linked to his pedigree I could provide them. They assured me they did not need it at the time of the appointment, only to find out they never submitted them because of this.after reviewing it with OFA’s website, they DO NOT need a registration number to accept x rays.On top of that, after reviewing the x rays with long time breeders and also veterinarians, they told me they were positioned badly and should be retaken.

We had brought our dog Koda there last week to be fixed , he was never monitored over night like they said he would be , we pick him up next day first thing at 7:30 am , we heard our dog going off in the lobby . They discharged us and never gave us any medications to bring home with him. Arrived home and immediately entered the door and had blood everywhere . Managed to stop the blood long enough to snap a picture to show them what they done. Chad Eli , the owner did not care and refused to answer why this had happened to my dog instead said it's normal no matter the size or breed of dog. (Never happened to my other dog before Koda) . Took Koda straight to Petwellness center and they had to give him laser surgery to stop bleeding and sent us home with 6 medications to help heal him faster. Thank God they were able to fix him up . He goes back to petwellness tomorrow to make sure everything is okay still. I would not recommend going to Effingham veterinary clinic . They neglected my dog and caused him to have some serious swelling and bleeding.

Beyond grateful for the care and service they showed for my cat. Rufus is 15 years old, I've had him since he was weened. I took him in to see Dr Ely because he was having constipation issues. Dr Ely found that one of his kidneys was enlarged, arranged to ultrasound it and remove it, saving his life from cancer. All of the appointments were arranged quickly, everyone answered all of my questions and took great care of my best bud. Dr Ely was so great with Rufus (who generally doesn't like strangers or men) I cannot express how thankful I am that they are helping me keep my boy around for as long as possible.

I have Pitbulls and Rottweilers. None of these vets have ever giving me a problem about either breed. They understand that eat dog has a different personality and some have anxiety. They roll with each one. When we have had to let go of one due to poor health, the staff send us a condolences letter and was gentle, and compassionate with how hard it was for us as a family. They all know our "kids" and help us anyway they can, whether it be emergency phone calls or in office visits. Erin is a wonderful up front lady. I couldn't say anything bad about this place. Thank you for being here.

If you want your animals to remain alive and healthy, avoid this vet office.The first time you take your pet there, they will treat you with such care and professionalism. They took the time to explain her diagnosis and while I left overwhelmed, it was nice having what I thought was a new consistent vets office. Unfortunately, it's a facade. The second time I had to go was to pick up my cat's ashes. They weren't rude, but the lack of compassion this time was noticeable, especially when they suddenly believed I was blaming them for what happened to her (I wasn't) and kept trying to punch down that it wasn't their fault.I tried a third time, with a new pet a few months later, hoping I had just caught them on a bad day. They were flat out rude this time and very much acted like I was a hassle, rather than a customer. These are just my experiences and I've heard far worse first hand experiences from friends that have gone since my visits.

My dog was trembling and acting like he was in pain I called like five veterinarian clinics late last night and could get no response for an emergency call until I found this place the person on call was very polite and very professional she told me she would see my dog BOBBLES if I bring him in at 1:30 in the morning ... Thank you so much for taking care of my little buddy You guys are awesome.

We got off to a rocky start with miscommunications.Im very happy with the outcome,My Baby Girl is being cared for free of charge for a follow up surgery from a year ago that was done while she was in distress. Im glad to have My cat all fixed up..we will all sleep better tonight Thank you Sir.

Took our Pitbull there to get his nails trimmed. Always did a horrible job and charged us $50. JUST FOR HIS NAILS. We called a professional groomer and they quoted us five dollars to trim his nails. Such a ripoff for no reason. Pretty disappointed.

My family has been loyal customers to another local vet clinic for years. My dog was experiencing some issues and the other clinic was just brushing it off and pushing medicine with no good results. I brought him to Effingham Vet and treated my pup like he was their own and got the problem resolved within a few visits. I am very grateful to their entire staff for putting up with me and and helping my sweet little terror!

Called at 5:30am this morning for the emergency line. The man who answered was obviously asleep, incoherent, and even asked twice after I told him, "what kind of animal do you have?". He just kept telling me the place opened at 7:30am and I should wait til then since it's almost open anyway "how's that sound?" he just kept repeating. Well it sounds like you don't want to do your job. Why have an emergency line at all?Edited:After talking with the day receptionist and being transfered to someone else, I was told that the man who answered had been up until 4am doing emergency and was tired. She said broken legs are not an emergency and can wait until operating hours. That you are welcome to call the emergency line but there is nothing to be done. Also, that she had a dog that broke its leg in the evening and she waited til morning to bring her own dog into be seen.As someone who has broken a leg and knowing how painful it is, I can't imagine anyone making an animal sit in that pain for hours, especially when someone like me is willing to pay the emergency fee to get their pet treated.Also a follow up, I took my 14 year old senior cat to another vet and he has green stick fractures the length of his leg, will be in a brace for 8 weeks, and likely limp the rest of his life if the leg heals at all, due to his age.

I love this Veterinary Clinic! I used to take my cat to a different clinic and she never received the care that I would expect people who love working with animals to give. All of her issues were started being addressed at my first appointment a couple months back, and she is now sitting on my lap sleeping, healthy and in better shape than she has been in for a long time! I am very thankful for this clinic! Bonus points for the fact that my parents took our dogs here when I was little and we had nothing but good service back then. Good to see that hasn't changed!

Traveling cross country our 11 years young Yorkie developed pancreatitis. Nearest emergency vet open from 6p-8a was 90 minutes away. At discharge, she needed continued care and we were lucky enough to find this amazing clinic within 45 minutes of us. We have experienced exceptional compassionate care from the receptionist to the vet techs to the Dr. Put the care of your fur baby in their competent hands.

We had been coming to this vet for 9ish years. Dr. Chad is the reason I will not be back. He says it takes time for treatment, but what that meant to me was keep bringing your dog in with no results and no discounts on visits. I made the trip to the vet office multiple times in a week for something that could have been done in one day.The rest of the staff is friendly and helpful. The previous 8 years of not dealing with Chad were nice. I wouldn't recommend taking your animals there for anything eye related. I don't have the kind of money to just pay blindly until he gets lucky. I'll be taking my dogs somewhere else.

Dr. Schultz at effingham vet clinic is the best! I’ll never take my dog to anyone else and I always recommend her to everyone. Her number one priority is the animal and doing her very best for them. She has always answered my questions and made me and pet feel important! Like I said, I will never go anywhere else. I feel confident in all care that she provides.

Our normal vet recommended Dr. Ely for our puppy's orthopedic surgery. It was an hour drive, but well worth it. Turned out she had a birth defect and he had to do a lot of work to correct her knee. There was no guarantee he could correct the problem. She's recovering now and is able to bend her knee. She still has a few weeks of recovery left, but Dr. Ely did a wonderful job and his staff are all very friendly. Thank you so much Effingham Veterinary Clinic!

Had an emergency situation with my cat. These compassionate professionals took immediate care of my precious cat. They called for information and permission prior to procedures. Even though my cat wasn't particularly happy, I was ecstatic. The added surprise was that the fees were reasonable and didn't break the bank. Well done Effingham Veterinary Clinic!!!!!

I had to put my dog down yesterday and all the people working there were so nice and caring to me and my dog. He went peacefully and the amount of care and sympathy I received from everyone there thru the entire process was amazing. My heart hurts but they all did their best to make sure I was ok and didnt even for a second act as if this was some routine thing...big thank u to everyone there for how big The r hearts are

I brought my rabbit to be seen for a torn nail. I was told that they were capable of caring for rabbits before scheduling an appointment.The vet very obviously did not know about rabbit care. She was very unsure how much pain meds to give and even asked me how another vet treated my rabbit for GI Stasis. She told me she had a another rabbit in at the same time as mine had it and she wasn't sure what to do.

my cat suddenly developed paralysis of his backlegs and tail Sunday evening . My husband and I frantically called several places who claimed to have after hours emergency services. We left messages at 4 or 5, who never called us back at all. We were told by a couple of different places to take our cat either to Indianapolis or up to U of I. Doctor Roxana talk to me and agreed on a time to meet at the clinic with our cat. Sadly his prognosis was extremely poor with a saddle thrombus and he had to be euthanized. But she took great care and showed great compassion for us and our cat. Thank you so much. Dr Roxana did discuss possible treatment options with us, the probable outcomes of each. After researching this condition after the fact, his clinical presentation was about as grim as it gets. I appreciate the fact that she was honest and didn't try to give us false hope for the sake of making money
