Very professional place, we found a dog we fell in love with and brought our current fur baby in to meet him. We ultimately decided it wasn't going to be a good fit and opted for a puppy instead, it felt like fate as we are currently traveling and this puppy had just been brought in from our home state of Arkansas. We have had this sweet puppy a month now and couldn't love him more. If you're like us and have a lot of love to give and want to share it with a fur baby, this is the place to go!The big lab was ours already, the little one is Jude :) they love to cuddle

They don't keep cats in their facility anymore so you have to go through MeowTown, which charges $9 per person just to view the animal. Then they put animals up on their website but let employees and volunteers adopt them outside of business hours so no one else gets a chance. Scam practices, will never go through them again.

They didn't announce on their WEBSITE that's they'd be closed for some "dog party"(very unprofessional and I wasted gas... anyhoo I had to give my BULLY to someone else who I know would take care of him...

These people are absolutely amazing. They helped me and my partner rescue a stray kitten and were able to offer affordable vaccines and a neuter. Their staff are some of the kindest and most dedicated people in the animal rescue field. They are all also incredibly helpful in terms of resources and information. All of their animals are also amazing and there is almost always an adoption event to help get their animals homes. Any animals I adopt in the future will be through them.

Dogs were great, adopted a pit bull mix named Sarafina and she's awesome. Gave us a bag of food, toys, a bag of treats, and vouchers for a free vet visit. Willing to hold her for a week while we sorted things out with our apartment. She's doing wonderfully!

I was referred to this agency by Gateway was told they could help. Due to my dog being too old I was told they couldn’t take herb but then they turned around and asked how could they help me keep her. Told them she needs to be seen by a vet cuz she looked sick. Told them I have end stage renal failure and congestive heart failure and I was on a fixed income. I left them emails and several messages on their voice mail. They still won’t call me back to tell me how they could help me to help her! I wish gateway could help they sounded more sincere then these heartless clowns!!

I couldn’t of been more happy with our experience. We went to meet a black lab and it went really well but he didn’t get along with our roommates dog so it was a no go. Instead of sending us hope empty handed a very nice girl at front desk took the time to give us a list of dogs that are good with dogs. I went back and checked them out and fell in love with a lab mix named Cletus (now named beau). He has been the most perfect addition to the family. He loves our roommates dog and cuddles up with the other roommates cat. I’ve recommended this place to everyone that says they want to adopt!❤️

I adopted my two cats here. The staff is well trained and Lily was especially helpful. She told me everything I needed to know about taking care of older cats. I love my two new fur babies and if i decide to adopt a future animal, I definitely will be back because my experience was so amazing. Just adopted our second dog from MEHS. The volunteers are so kind and good with the dogs. We visited the dog three different times before adopting. We didn't feel pressured or rushed. Once we were ready to finalize the adoption, everything went smoothly and quickly and that sent us home with a goodie bag.

Searched for affordable spay and neuter prices for a long time before finally coming across MEHS. I’ve brought four cats here now (two of which were feral and were spayed/neutered for free because of a grant the shelter had gotten) and they’ve all received great care. Workers are friendly and I was even able to rent traps to catch the ferals for TNR. Really appreciate MEHS and their willingness to work with surrounding counties as I’m from a very small town and wasn’t able to find cheap care closer to home.

Never answers the phone called and left voicemails since October finally answered in December got a spot for January 2024 and of course the prices for getting a dog fixed goes up to 250$ for the year 2024

DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERETheir policies benefit the humans who bought them, not the animal. MEHS protects owners' information and withholds the pet's information.Our cat Shado was adopted from here. We found him outside on the streets, starving, and yearning for love. In attempt to get his records, the previous owner's permission was required to get his records. Keeping in mind, his previous owners did not make a single effort to find him, and did not respond to the microchip calls made. While I did receive the records eventually, this meant the previous owners allowed this, but did not address why they let their 1 year old kitten outside.I believe places like this have good intentions, but the policies they hold prevent them from helping the animals in need the greatest.

Very nice staff, very affordable spay and neuter services. This is where I take all my cats. The price is about 75 bucks with vaccinations for a cat. Call for more info about Dogs. They take some time to get back to you but their awesome.

We had a poor little stray kitty that we took to be put up for adoption after nursing her back to health for a month. They were unable to take her due to a possible underlying illness. After another veteran visit & finding out she had feline leukemia & sho knows what it was suggested that we have her euthanize. Metro East worked with us & were absolutely wonderful. Can never thank them enough. Would highly recommend!
