We have boarded our dog with Animal Care Center of Downers Grove a few times now. She always comes back happy and healthy. I am grateful they offer a Doggie Day Care option while she stays for the weekend to give our dog time to play with other dogs and those who care for her. Animal Care Center of Downers Grove has been a great option for us!

My dog Elvis is reactive and fearful… he suffers from bad anxiety and protects himself by showing aggression. Elvis broke a tooth and I was referred to this clinic from his primary vet that comes to our home after a sedation shot did not work on Elvis and it was unsafe to do his extraction. From the moment we got there.. the staff kept Elvis’ anxiety and stress controlled. Dr. Dan is the first Dr. that my dog has allowed to touch him without lunging or growling. The staff scheduled Elvis’ surgery on a day where he will be the only dog getting worked on to keep his stress levels low… if I could give this place a thousand stars I would… thank you so much staff & Dr. Dan

Switching vets. I’ve been going here for a couple of years. At first it was fine. For the last 18 months, whenever you call the greeting is “Is this a medical emergency or can I place you on a brief hold?” Never, “Animal Care Center of Downers Grove, how may I help you?”Brief hold averages 30 minutes or more. Should you complain, they explain that they are very busy. No, they are under staffed. When you arrive for your appointment, you have to wait for at least 10 - 20 minutes past your appointment time for the staff to show you to a room. You could understand if you were waiting with more than one other patient family, but I never have been. The front counter staff seem busy, but not caring for the patients in front of them, or those calling in for assistance. I have heard them answer the phone with the same “Is this a medical emergency or can I put you on a brief hold” response and go back to working on their computer - not assisting a patient standing in front of them. My time is as valuable as the doctor’s time. I’m going elsewhere and claiming back my “brief” half-hour and 40 minute holds.

Definitely felt like I got shuffled in and out of there without much information. No offense to young professionals, but the doctor was a kid who basically took one look at my cat, called her fat (no suggestion on what kind of changes to her diet or lifestyle I should make, just a callous observation) and suggested I pay hundreds of dollars for a preventative dental cleaning. There was no transparency at all on how much I would be paying for the two shots that I frankly don't think she needed to get, and my attempt at asking a follow up question got me a barely disguised eye roll. So, thanks, but will not be returning.

I admire the staff behind the front counter when bringing my dogs here. I believe the techs, doctors, have always treated my pet and family well. However, I do not feel the same about the front counter associates. Each time I call, visit, or even ask a question both of the women that work seem bothered about even working. This is a healthcare facility and a hospital. People bring their beloved pets everyday and the front staff is the face of this hospital and all they have shown patients and families is how unapproachable and rude they are. I find this unacceptable and absolutely shameful. Contrary to the mission statement these past experiences have not been positive or gentle as asking anything from the front staff seems to be an issue every time I go. I find this behavior not only uncomfortable but unsafe for my pet as this is a medical facility that should invite questions instead of have a ridiculous attitude for being invested in the care of my pet. There needs to be some serious changes in the attitude, communication, and overall delivery of the front staff. I feel extremely sorry for families that have to approach the front staff when they are in a more serious situation than I was because the lack of compassion and empathy is absolutely absurd. I am appalled at the treatment, poor communication, and attitude of the front staff from my visit (and the past visits). Overall I am disappointed that this issue has not been fixed and that this has continued for this long. This is unsafe, uncomfortable, and unacceptable.

Don't take your pets there if you love them with all your heart. My aunt took her cat there, and it came out worse than when it went in. The doctors are rude and pushy and the customer service is very poor. In addition to that, the cost is excessively high, to receive such poor service

Have taken my Roxy here since she was 8 was old - The entire staff here has always been kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable- this everyone from the front desks to the technicians and of course the Doctors- This past month the heartbreaking and and totally unexpected happened and my little girl was terminal and for all the hard decisions they helped us with as much information they had and when the end came as hard as it was their kindness and concern for my girl and us was so helpful thank you everyone for taking care of RoxyVicki and tom

Frankly, I question the overall skill level in the hospital. Very costly treatment and they tend to carry out the treatments to make more $. The staff are generally cold to my beloved pets as compared to my vet in Wisconsin. Hoping my honest opinion gets to someone who can fix this place.

**DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS**2 VISITS-5 HRS WAIT TIME-$600+ & POOR SERVICESOur dogs are like our children and when you take them to the same vet for as many years as we have, you’d hope your Drs are caring for them in the same way you would. Especially in the unknown moments, when there is obviously something wrong. After 2 VISITS, 5 HOURS OF WAIT TIME, $600+ IN FEES with no answers and our dog still vomitting and not eating, we took her to another vet. For them to simply find a severe ear infection. One that would have been easily detected, if checked.I am appalled by the pure negligence for the basics. The services have become subpar, wait times outrageous and the price does not fit the level of bedside manner received. After 9 years of being with the same vet, we are taking our services elsewhere and do not recommend coming here.

I’ve been coming here for over 4 years. Every year they increased their price by much, ITS ABSURD. For everything. And also increased the waiting time. I had an appointment at 10, and I had to go back to open the back of the exam room to get someone to talk to me after awaiting for over 45 minutes. Service has gone down and prices have gone up. They know you’ll pay whatever for your pets to be okay and they fully take advantage of it. They won’t set up a payment plan for their extremely expensive services, and won’t negotiate not matter what. Over $500 spent of procedures that took 10 minutes to do, but they don’t tell you any prices after the fact. This place just has gone to sh.t.

This has been my vet for years and in recent years the services have deteriorated. I truly trusted Dr True and I never had any concerns when he was doing my pets care. I haven’t seen him in several years and I think this is why we’ve had several bad experiences.In February, I brought my pup in because she was doing weird things with her mouth. The vet on duty couldn’t figure it out, didn’t look in her mouth and sent us on our way with pain meds. The following week it was worse and I brought her back. Come to find out she had oral cancer - it was missed because the vet never looked at the first visit. So I paid for two visits to finally get an answer. We had her euthanized several weeks later and I have to say those services are very nice.Last week I brought my cat in and he had an obstruction. They did the surgery for $2500; this included an antibiotic shot. I sent photos in four days later for the vet to look at bc I was concerned he looked puffy and was really lethargic. Was told he was swollen and his pooch was settling and he was lethargic bc it was a large surgery. I picked my cat up to take him back to the vet today and pus exploded from the cat all over the floor. When I asked how that happened, how he got infected, I was told maybe it wasn’t the right antibiotic. I’m so disappointed because I’m paying another $1k to fix a problem that shouldn’t have been a problem. Yes I understand it’s a dirty area for surgery but I expect the correct antibiotic to be used and the vet to not dismiss my concerns and tell me he’s fine when clearly he wasn’t for a couple of days. I can’t say I’m confident he’ll make it through surgery today and I’m so upset. After this, we will no longer be using this vet.

We got a puppy in the fall and the day after Christmas she fell off a bed and was limping. We had been taking her to another vet in town, but after xrays and an exam they were unable to help her. She would need a surgery they could not provide for a break in her growth plate. They gave me some referrals to surgeons and I called everywhere to get her some help. No one could get me in for a month or more. One of my calls was to Animal Care Center and they were able to squeeze me in that week, even though they were also booked. Dr. True examined Roxie and determined that the original vet was correct in his assessment and she would need surgery and pins to be placed to keep her leg healthy. Dr. True said he would do the surgery that Saturday and came in one his day off early that morning to perform the surgery on her leg. He placed 2 pins and a wire to secure her leg break. Not only did they squeeze me in because they understood that this couldn't just wait a month, but Dr. True came in on a Saturday and his day off to help my dog. I am very impressed by their caring and going above and beyond for us and we have switched our dog to this practice because of that.

So far extremely happy. I was able to bring my cat Gary in for a walk in simply by calling ahead of time to treat him. Follow up appointment in a week. Nice receptionist. Nice vet. Will likely make this his regular vet going forward since moving back from Nevada.

Dr. Heavey does fantastic work! She treated Bruno with such professionalism and explained his new treatment plan while fielding a litany of questions from me. Reception is courteous and responsive. I haven't tried their grooming yet but probably will soon. Very happy with my experiences here so far.

Had to cremate my pet on 10/5, staff was really friendly and supportive during this tough time. We received an condolences card from the staff yesterday. They didn't have to do that for us. Since they went that extra mile, it shows they actually care. When we get our next pet, we will take them there for vet services.

I could not get into my Vet like a couple times previously for 2-3 days. My dog Lillie was not doing good and I did not want her to wait that long to get checked out. I called this office and they gave me an appt for the same day. They did bloodwork, called me back the next day stating her bloodwork did not look good and they recommended hospitalization. Long story short she was there for one night and the Dr advised they were not able to do all the testing at their facility what Lillie needed. I ended up bringing her to U of I, she was admitted there twice within 3 weeks, testing was done and we received a terminal diagnosis. We were able to bring her home Christmas eve but by 12/30 she was very anemic again and we had to end her suffering at Animal Care Clinic. Between U of I and Animal care clinic they communicated with each other, we would bring Lillie here for bloodwork in between episodes. When it was time to say "good bye" it was as positive as it could have been. The room was decorated comforting, they had a jar with chocolate kisses with a saying on it "nobody should leave this world without chocolate kisses", Lillie enjoyed 6 of them. She loved them and we figured "might as well" , why not? I had no bad experience, staff was always friendly, supportive. The condolence card I received from the office after her passing was so nice and filled with personal messages from the employees and Drs, it was just unbelievable. If I would ever get another pet, this will be my go to vets office! Thank you very much to the staff and Drs, you could not save my Lillie but you made this experience as good as possible!

Our crazy pets all know Animal Care Center of Downers Grove. Over the past year our pet family has grown, a lot! Animal Care Center has been with us through helping my late Aunt’s cats feel at home to helping us introduce a new friend for our dog Beauregard, his little sister Bellatrix! We love going here because it’s close to us, easy to make an appointment, or to have a walk-in visit, and the staff is always so friendly and helpful! Dr. True is amazing and does so well with keeping up with all our visits.We got the health plans for our dogs and they do help save a good amount of money over the year we have been going there. It’s nice to be able to go in and not worry about a vet visit fee every time. All of our animals may be small but they all have plenty of energy!!!They deserve five stars because no matter when I go there I am always greeted warmly and feel welcome. My pets never really like seeing the vet, but being able to see the same Dr. every time really helps them feel at ease.

WORST GROOMING EXPERIENCE! I took my husky in for a kennel grooming and de-shedding. They finished in little less than a hour then called and left a message to let me know he was done at the WRONG number. Even though the woman who checked us in for the grooming asked for my number TWICE. It wasn’t until I called to check on my dogs status that they realized they had called the incorrect number. They never apologized and still charged me for having to board himthose couple of hours after he was done with the grooming in which I had NO IDEA because they called and left a message at the wrong number. To top it off they did a really poor job at deshedding him. I understand huskies can be difficult to de-shed but this was by far the worst deshedding my dog has ever gotten. I WOULD NOT recommend taking any dog that sheds heavily to this grooming facility. I should have asked for a refund but I just wanted to get out of there and I honestly do not believe the groomers meant any harm and they did a good job at bathing him his coat was shinier and smelled good when I picked him up and the woman who brought him out was very sweet to him and helped me get his collar on . It was just a frustrating situation. I have attached pictures of what my car looked like after I picked him up from the groomers and how much fur I was still able to get off of him once we got home and I deshedded him a little myself to show how much he was still shedding. Writing this to hopefully save any dog owners who have heavy shedding pups some money please go else where.

I had always heard great things about Animal Care Center of Downers Grove and after going there can say that given a choice I will not go anywhere else. We had an emergency with our beloved Dachshund Portia and Dr. True and his staff could not have been more caring and considerate. I cannot thank Dr. True and his staff enough for all of their help on that devastatingly heartbreaking day. I don't know what I would have done without their guidance, patience and compassion.

This is a difficult one. Front of the house is in absolute disarray, constantly 30+ minutes behind schedule and making numerous record-keeping errors that result in very uncomfortable and awkward confrontations with the technicians.On the back end, the veterinary treatment is fantastic, all of the vets are extremely professional and we always feel confident with their service.If you are looking for a vet, I cannot recommend this one just because every time I’m here it’s WELL over an hour. However, if you’re okay with wasting so much time, this is a good spot.

I called for a reference check today in their clients who were interested in getting a kitten from me. The receptionist kept me on hold for thirty minutes, refused because they were busy, talked over me, wouldn't listen, very disrespectful and unprofessional. I will advise these clients to find another veterinarian! In all the years of doing this, I have never been treated this rudely as I was here. Go elsewhere! Hanging up on people calling for a reference is extremely unprofessional! Yes, she hung up on me! She had no idea how to be courteous!
