Went in one time after a recommendation from a family member since they have a lot of very good spices and rubs, one of the workers even talked a little bit about some of the selections and gave me some recommendations on what to try and was satisfied with the choices, the staff is very friendly and the selection was amazing place looks older but never judge a book by its cover, it’s probably the most friendly staff I have met in a while

Bought a model TB340 lawn blower and it did not perform to its 200MPH rating. Brand new 2/23/2024. Performance was well below my standards. Returned it to Ace Hardware in Dixon Illinois where I bought it. Complete return and bought a Stihl hand held model. Tested it out and it outperformed the Troy Built model hands down. Thanks to Chris, Mike and Jerry for their service.

The sales area is great and always 5 stars before for years, this review is about the rental customer service. If you rent a tool on Saturday night @ close time for 2 days, you shouldn't get charged for the initial night. The rental should start technically the next morning and be due back Tuesday morning. After discussing this with their staff member, they told me that isn't the way it works. Then moments later they said if I had picked it up on Friday night for 2 days it would have been the whole weekend due back Monday morning. When I asked how that is different than what I'm asking for they wouldn't explain and started to get attitude. I said I should have just bought the item instead at the rate they charge and he replied, "if you can find a Mikita for $250 I'll buy a truckload." - which is exactly what a customer that had a days rental stolen wants to hear as an explanation. Unfortunately I'll have to use a different hardware store from now on which is sad because I like supporting small businesses. Reply to owner: I'll accept the contract, just not the poor customer service coupled with insults yelled at me as I walked out the door. That's what didn't meet my expectations. Not even an offer to rent it to me for another day if I needed. Maybe a bad day, but still needs to be addressed rather than defended.

Dixon Ace is always a great place to go for things. The staff is always super friendly and very helpful in finding what you need. They are knowledgeable in their areas to help guide you if you have any other questions that you may need assistance with as well. My husband had become quite the regular and doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon either.

I called to make sure the string line trimmer I was buying on line was in the store & same sale price. Mike work through the online ordering while helping other customers. Mike work hard on why I was having a problem & price online we work through it it was almost closing time. It was very busy . Mike help others while .I was leaving Mike said if this goes through I will stay open for you to pick your trimmer up. He called me back in 10 minutes said everything went through come get your trimmer. Went through before closing time . mike was a great help. I want people to know how good he was. Thanks ACE & Mike

I was looking for a big furnace filter which was 4" deep; and they carried it & was in stock! I just stopped in to ask and a staff member took me directly to them and found it for me! Very friendly and attentive to all their customers; this was my first visit to this store and I will definitely return!

Always very friendly and helpful. We have been using this Ace Hardware now for a little over two years absolutely love it. Jared is my go to guy. He always understands exactly what I'm trying to do and usually has a good solution right there in the store for me. On the rare occasion he doesn't have what I need exactly in the store we either find an alternative work around or he helps me find the product but I exactly need even if I have to buy it online or from somebody else. Ace Hardware has definitely earned my business.

By far my favorite hardware store! I like that they are local, but I love their friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have everything you need for home DIY, garden and even tool/machine rental that is fast, easy, and convenient. After shopping with them, Menards, Home Depot, and Lowe’s are an afterthought. Highly recommend!

Great place to figure out what you need. Staff are pretty knowledgeable and have always been spot-on with their recommendations. Tool rental department has a very good selection and they allow short rentals at 3 hrs iirc so it helps keep the costs down.

I accidentally left a bad review at this store. Thought I was reviewing the Oregon Ace Hardware/pharmacy and liquor store. I love the Dixon Ace Hardware. Its probably a good thing for me I don't live in dixon because with the inventory, the great tool rental, friendly and knowledgeable staff I'd probably go broke really fast. They almost always have what I need when I go there. Definitely one of the best hardware stores I the area.

Excellent hardware store. Went in to find casters for our parrot cage, they had exactly what I needed. Needed a couple of nuts for my motorcycle which no auto parts stores carry and was going to go to Harley Davidson in Rockford for them. Thought, why not have a quick look. I'll be damned if they didn't have the exact nuts I needed. And very friendly knowledgeable staff. My new go to old school feel hardware store. Better than the big box stores for your everyday hardware needs.

I always get help the instant I walk in the door and the associates are always willing to help think of a solution to math your needs and most seem very knowledgeable about what they stock, when they stock it, and if they are out of stock.I used to be a fan of Menards, but nowadays Ace is my place to shop.
