Completely over priced.! Price gouging at its best just like all ace hardwares, unfortunately. I would only shop here if it was an emergency where I didn't have time to drive to another store. Most products are at least double, if not triple, and quadruple the price of other hardware stores.

I was just there and asked if somebody can help me with the plants and the prices. They said I had to bring them into the store. They could not come out to the garden center. I was not about to bring in all the plants I had questions about. There was a employee sitting on a lawn mower on his phone. There was 2 girls at the register. This is not customer service. I will never recommend this store again. They lost a customer and also I will never recommend them again🤗

Drove close to an hour to pickup item that the Online ordering system stated was in stock and available to pickup in store. When I got there, I was told that the online ordering system is not working properly and that they are aware of the issue. That is ridiculous. The pickup should be removed from the options when you make a purchase if you have no idea if it's in stock or not. Complete waste of 2 hours.

First of all. The staff is very helpful. Not particularly knowledgable, because ACE is a national brand that isn't in the practice of finding qualified people to run a hardware store, but pay less than a living wage and hire folks who are transitioning hopefully to a career, SOMEWHERE ELSE... That being said, they quickly get the lay of the store and figure out where things are... they can point you right to them, if it's something they're acquainted with. They cannot help you with a complex question. But they are indeed trying! The stores are above price point stores, they are simply a last resort when you need something fast and local. Like the McDonalds in front of it... There's really not much that stands out inside... everything is about 20-80% higher than other stores... the recent price bump, put them way out there... But I'll be buying something from them in ten minutes (A $7 bottle of powdered graphite which is actually right at about price point, checking on line, however this could be different than the reality I find at the store), ... So I can't say I don't recommend them. So to be clear, my review is of the Ace Hardware STORES and to a lesser degree the one closest to me, where I have found the employees doing their best with a limited situation for below average pay. They are not the lesser of the evils, but simply the closest. (ok... adding a star. The part I bought today was uncharacteristically cheap!)

I have always loved shopping at Ace until an recent incident. I paid for a purchase with cash and a card. The next day when I returned home the phone rang and it was the owner of Ace. He asked me if I had received his previous call and I said no I just walked in the door. He told me I had used bad money (which I had done by mistake) paying for the earlier transaction. I told him what had happened and did not feel it necessary for him to threaten to call the police over $10.00 especially since they had my card #, my phone number and the transaction why would I need to be threatened? Seems to me that if I was going to try and steal from him I would have been smart enough to not use my credit card to pay!! I laughed and told him I would be there immediately.

I enjoy going to check out what ACE has in stock. I was buying my furnace filters from Walmart because I thought it would be the best $$ buy. Not so. ACE has better filters for less. Be sure to sign up for an account with them. They give you the key chain account card so when you buy something you make points. You know like you get at Walgreens and CVS. It's free to sign up. This store isn't as big as Home Depot but you will be surprised they do have a great variety of items. I like to check on line if they have what I need on their web site before going to the other stores. ACE has a big varieties of tools, screws, connectors, plumbing supplies, electrical, lawn furniture, grills, etc.What is so nice about ACE it's like visiting a down home hardware store. It has smaller quantity maybe but top quality items. The sales people are top notch. Friendly and always willing to help you with your purchase. Check it out both in Collinsville and Granite City, Illinois.

To high priced home depot is better and asked for paint to paint my old wood cabinets and they told me to get a paint that cost 45$ and it chips right off I was so passed but haven't complained about it yet oh I will horrible

A year ago I was customer looking around Cottons Ace Hardware the store was new and I was curious to see all the products they carried having no knowledge of hardware stores I ventured through the Aisles. I was looking for a change in my work experience having worked Warehouse jobs in Pontoon Beach for the last 4 years i seen they where Hiring. So I put in an Application and in the same day I turned in my application I was already being called Back they wanted an interview right there something I’ve never experienced before with a job.I was hired that day even though I still had my warehouse job so I put in my two weeks at the Warehouse it was a pay cut but the location was closer. those two weeks where hard. I had never worked 2 jobs before ,and there was a learning curve That I was dealing with. I had never worked Retail Before I had never fixed anything i had never mixed up paint I couldn’t tell you the difference from a bolt and a screw.what was a Sharkbite? I never grew up in a house so most items we carried I didn’t even know what they were. But now after a year I can say I know where a majority of the items are at Ace and if not we can special order if it’s not on our shelf’s .not every attempt to help a customer have been successful and sometimes I’m just giving directions to another Ace store but working at Ace Hardware has shaped me as a Person.through the good and the bad .my Name is Caleb and I work For Cottons Ace Hardware.how can I help you today?

I’m going to start going to this hardware store for all of my home project needs. Super friendly staff and they were willing to actually help me find what I needed. Definitely not the same attitude you get at the big box home improvement stores. I’ve shopped at other Ace Hardware’s in the area, having them in town is going to great.

Small town friendly. Assembled, delivered and removed old grill…. At no charge. Delivery man was awesome and Mike was so helpful. Cotton’s Ace Hardware knows how to treat customers. I will always shop here first!Please support small town businesses.

Beware of return policy at this store!I bought a Weber iGrill 2 from this Ace and it totally failed and melted to my smoker. I paid $120 even though Home Depot down the road has it for $100 because I like Ace and have been a long time customer. I took this product back for a refund and was told "we will not refund this". They claimed "we won't refund it because we can't resell it".AKA don't buy anything here if it might break (during the course of normal use) because they only refund products they can put right back on the shelf.Buy a sledgehammer and the handle breaks? Too bad. They can't resell it. It is shocking that they even sell items that they KNOW may fail and yet they also refuse to accept refunds for. They claimed they sell defective products from Weber because "we need the Weber name". I asked if Weber will refund my extra $20 markup I paid for the privilege of shopping at Ace and of course, they won't.The assistant manager said there are many products they don't accept refunds for. Good luck finding that out before you buy it. He said they don't take back any gas powered products. This is in direct conflict with ACE corporations' own return policies.I'm a contractor and I'm no stranger to return policies at hardware stores. I expected better from ACE. If you want to shop at ACE, GO TO TROY. I've been a customer of Troy's ACE for years and they will bend over backwards for you. Not flat out tell you "I will not give you any money back for this product because I can't put it back on the shelf."

I went to both home Depot and Lowes looking for hardware parts that I thought were somewhat common. The best they could do was special order them so I could have them in a week. Cotton's Ace had them in stock and in the shelf! I wish I had gone there first...

"The young attendant was gonna send me away in the dept. for keys.Stated I would have to pay $143 for a new fob. An older more experienced attendant interrupted & helped me. He programmed my key fob; swiftly ; I was so grateful & elated at his kind manner"!!

Brand new store in Collinsville, Illinois. Just opened up last month. Had their grand opening celebration over last weekend. Perfect size for a store to give the Collinsville Home Depot some competition 👍

Each time I have been to Ace I have been greeted by a young black male in the Iles who goes out of his way to help the customers. I believe his name is Terenaz. He should be commended.
