The work that Dirk Wright and the staff at Union County is phenomenal. They are professional, compassionate and give their all to ensure that the safety and welfare of the animals in their care is of the highest priority. Mr. Wright found and saved my rescue dog that slipped it's harness and was lost for seven weeks. I will be eternally grateful. We later adopted a dog from the shelter and both are terrific companions and happy as can be.While we were looking for the lost dog I had the opportunity to spend time with and observe Mr. Wright and both staff and volunteers work which was tirelessly to provide for the animals in their care and to get them adopted.I most definitely recommend the Union County Animal Control for adopting a pet, volunteering and/or donating so that they can continue their good works.

This place is awesome! They genuinely care for the animals and strive to get them adopted! They don't euthanize unless absolutely necessary! Adopted my border collie Tippy from here and so glad I did!

These volunteers at UCAC are the best! I've been fortunate enough to get two mixed breed dogs from UCAC. The process is easy, the volunteers are amazing and kind, and the dogs have been so loving. UCAC is highly regarded in our county.

Currently there are many stories and pictures of horse neglect and cruelty being perpetrated by an employee of Union County Animal control. The information is circulating on Facebook with a growing number of victims telling their stories.The animal abuse/neglect is allegedly occurring at Shawnee Arena and Stables in Alto Pass IL. The county has been made aware of the allegations and chooses to turn a blind eye allowing it to contine. Making them, in my opinion, complicit in the abuse.

Adopted both of my dogs from there BEST dogs ever!!!! They worked with them and did their best with as small as they are. They know each dogs personally really well. I love all that they do they are amazing!

We got an older female Lab from UCAC and she is the sweetest dog we've ever had. Thanks for taking good care of her while she was with you

Was here a while back looking for my cat, and the man working there was so kind and helpful to me. Looked into the cat enclosure to make sure my kitty hadn't gotten arrested, and it was clean, good smelling, and the cats were all in good shape. I hated to see this place with such a poor average review when they do so much with so few resources. <3

Very friendly staff. Adopted our dog from here and he has been the best dog we’ve ever had!
