We were invited to the invitation exclusive soft run for the upcoming opening. I am so impressed by the quality of the food. The atmosphere is warm and happy. All of the staff are still new Burson energetic and happy to help you with the menu and understanding of the unique items. I am extremely excited to have gotten to be a part of this evenings run. Very successful and I am already planning on coming back in for many occasions. The food was some of the best flavors and the proportions are wonderful. Not a single complaint. I had the pork chops with a bourbon and peach sauce and it was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to get back in and try each of these new dishes. A++++Even their cocktails are hand crafted and so delicious.Parking: There is parking all around as well as a parking lotKid-friendliness: Wait staff I'd so sweet and friendly. And they have a great kid selection that even includes the drink.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp as well as accessible restrooms.

The food was excellent and the waiters were just wonderful. My food was very cold and slightly undercooked but they took care of the bill. I loved the appetizers. It was so beautiful outside. Cool decor! I probably wouldn’t return because the owner’s son made a comment to me that cause me to nearly cry. I felt my face become hot with embarrassment. He kept making comments to me and my friend so we finally moved tables because she felt irritated. He was kind of offensive. I’m not sure what the issue was. It was all great except for that guy and his weird comments.

All you can eat Fried chicken is advertised as Sunday special but the waitress immediately informed us that the chicken was “still frozen and not available” at 1145 am. Bbq was not hot, had to ask for bbq sauce. Waitress came back to the table and asked if we wanted our 11.96 change and assumed this was her tip on a 28 dollar tab. The dining room was nearly empty and understandably.

I had the grilled salmon on a bed of wild rice, bacon wrapped asparagus, baked potato and a dinner salad. The salmon was perfectly seasoned with Cajun spices. Not too hot—just a little heat. Delicious! Great atmosphere! The prices are awesome! My friend got a huge filet mignon dinner for under 30 bucks. Our waitress was wonderful. We ate after the dinner rush, and she was thankful to have a small group to wait on haha! Overall great experience. 😊

Don’t waste time or money. First we waited for 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order after we were seated. Waited another 10 for those minus the bar order we had. That took an extra 15 minutes also came to the table watered down and tasted horrible. Then probably 30-40 minutes for food to get to our table. Appetizers came out same time as our food. Half my plate was cold the other half looked like it had set in the window for awhile. Asked for a box for my daughters chicken 4 times before we got it. When the check finally came there was a credit card processing fee already added to my bill in my total. Seeing as I planned to pay with cash had to ask them to take it off. They didn’t even have correct change so had to round it up to pay me my change due. I watched multiple employees ignore some tables then handed out complimentary drinks to others. Owners had nothing to say for the mess up with all our stuff but handed out free beers to the table behind me that got their food before us even though we had been there 20 minutes before them. All in all will never go back. Make sure to check your bills if you’re paying cash!

My girlfriend and I were out exploring Southern Illinois and wanted to try a place we had never been to before. After attempting a different restaurant down the road that we ended up walking out of we found Blue Boar. The inside of the restaurant is very well done with a hunting lodge mixed with New Orleans feel. The restaurant was very busy with lots of prom kids. Our waitress was excellent even though she was training someone. The salad was pretty weak but our entrees were excellent. They have a nice seating area outside next to a small waterfall and creek. There’s a few outside tables you can eat at as well as a pool table. We really enjoyed eating here and will definitely come back!

It was quite a little bit of a country road drive from town ( Anna Ill ) but worth the drive. There was a pretty waterfall outside were you can sit on the veranda & look at. The restaurant was filled with stuffed animal's & animal heads. It also has a small bar off on one side to enjoy a drink. They Bacon wrapped filet mignon was REALLY GOOD cooked just right. I had creamy coleslaw which was ok & fries. Our waitress was very nice & was very attentive. Glad we went.

First, why is it so MUSTY up in here?!?! Now that we've got that out of the way..... we almost gave this place one single star because in fact they did actually have beer to drink, but the fact that the waitress walked by three separate times and never even acknowledged us and we had to go to the bar ourselves to get our drinks and the bartender who was busy got us a drink we'll give them two stars... single drink and leave experience for this joint. Could have been a cool place if they didn't ignore us!

I was really looking forward to stopping here after we went to Blessing of the Bikes..... They were not busy when we 1st got there.... It was not a great experience..... 2 hours to get food... Multiple times asking about the food multiple times being lied to about what the problem was..... Being served cold food.... Watching other tables come and go and still no food. Half of our party was served and ate an hour before the other half got their food.... Manager did some compensation..... But does not excuse the fact they still charged us 18% gratuity on service that we did not receive..... I literally ate my food an hour and 45 minutes after my husband finished his. And no they were not busy when we got there. there were only 4 other tables. Very disappointing... We were so looking forward to them being open again..... I received my food one hour and forty five minutes after I set down from the limited menu that they had.... I had a cold hamburger so cold the cheese wouldn't even attach to the Burger.....

Great food. Definitely seems like a place you'd want to check out in warm weather. All courses came on top of each, no time to enjoy. Not rushed beyond that.

The location is a huge plus, they are close to Anna and Cobden so anyone who is visiting the Shawnee Hills wine trail area will find them to be convenient and also one of the few places open for Sunday dinner. At this point they close at 6 pm so be aware of that - it is listed on either their FB page or website (can't remember which). We went to the Blue Boar for Mother's Day evening. Our waitress Mckinzie (not sure of the spelling!) was great. She greeted us right away, got our drink orders, and explained the menu options and checked back on us appropriately. She was very friendly and professional. My husband had the catfish which he loved! The portions were generous and he said it was cooked just the way he liked it. In addition to the greens, the salad had tomatoes, cheese, and bacon and was plentiful. The red beans and rice are always a favorite but they were sold out so he had the smashed potatoes which he liked.I had the chicken fettuccini (I don't eat any spice but there was a blackened version available) and the salad. The servings were plentiful and we both brought leftovers home. Both the owner and the manager checked with us to see how our meals were and to thank us for coming in. We came late in the day so they were out of a few things but we are definitely going back and are looking forward to trying a few other options on the menu! (Sorry, we were really hungry so didn't think about taking photos!)Parking: Great parking, close to the entrance.Kid-friendliness: A GREAT place for kids, the outdoor area is beautiful with a natural waterfall and a shallow creek running near the restaurant. There is seating outside with a wonderful view of the rocky hillside covered with native plants. Also, good food options for kids.Wheelchair accessibility: Very good parking and access to the restaurant.

$15 All you can eat fried chicken lunch is a little misleading. Its closer to $16 per person, drinks not included. You get a small side of mashed potatoes and green beans with 2 pieces of fried chicken. No bread. If you want more chicken, you get more chicken. If you want more potatoes or green beans, it is an upcharge. Sides were ok but not chef quality. Chicken was ok. Cooked well, not seasoned well, and had a rubbery texture. Seemed as if it was cooked from freezer to fryer. Not impressed especially for the price. Wont return.

This was a great choice for an after Thanksgiving meal. Everyone got just what they wanted. The catfish was great the steaks were cooked just right. There were no awkward pauses between courses. Our waitress was Johnny on the spot seeing to our needs. I can't wait for the next chance to eat here.

First time at the Blue Boar and I was very disappointed. I ordered ribs and a baked potato. The ribs were so dry and tough, I could not eat them and the baked potato was raw. My husband had a steak and it was full of fat, but had a good taste. It was a neat place and the service was good, but food was a HUGE disappointment! Will not be back.

Food wasn't particularly great, especially for the price. "Cajun" pasta had a single strip of red and green bell pepper, no spice.Dietary restrictions: Not a lot of dairy free options available
