I LOVE Geigers! All that is wonderful about having a small-town hardware store, including friendly, knowledgeable staff.We have purchased all of our Stihl products here. Check that out, for sure. You may pay a few extra bucks for the convience of not going to Peoria. The older folk that have been there are extremely very helpful. Some of the high-school kids are not nearly as helpful, but there is always someone there willing to help. Great people and store If you don't mind paying a little more on some items.

Best Stihl sales and service center in Peoria county. Very knowledgeable and helpful in selection of the wide variety of all Stihl products. Huge selection of rental items and reasonable prices. Excellent selection of hard to find fasteners and little things to finish projects. Staff always willing to help with questions and suggestions

Geiger True Value in Chillicothe is a GREAT family-owned small business that saved me yet again!Many call Geiger True Value gaugers or overpriced, and will drive out of their way to go to a larger store in Peoria. Don't get me wrong, if I am already going to Peoria, I frequent other stores. But when I am in a pinch, Geiger is a great store that cares about its customers and the community. I go there as much as possible and Tom is a great person to bounce ideas off of and is always willing to spend time with a customer to come up with a solution.My mother-in-law was without power yesterday morning and her basement was taking on water. I called Geiger before their 8:00 opening time and reached Ann, one of the owners. Ann confirmed a generator was available to rent and I picked it up quickly to get the sump pump doing its job, even filling out the paperwork later.Tom bailed my dad out several times over the years, even opening the store so we could get a new pump for his basement, in a pinch.They are a great small business and should be supported as much as possible. Are they higher than the big stores? Of course. My dad was a bit higher priced than larger stores in Peoria. They have overhead with less net sales to spread it over.

It had quite a bit of what you need in a hardware store but a bit pricey.$$$ However, the Delight for me was finding out they had small Fish and small pets for sale! I've never seen that in a True Value before and those were priced reasonable!

I mean yeah it smells good inside but when you enter the pet section, you are greeted by dirty tanks and cages, fish tanks that are filled with mold and dead fish.Overstocked tanks to the point where even the filter cant even clean the tank out anymore.Their mice cages are overstocks. Their bettas are kept in tiny bowls.I went there earlier today and their fish tank was dirty and there was mold growing inside. Me and my little sister looked into a fish tank and there was at least 2 dead fish rotting at the bottom while other fish picked at them.How is this even allowed?

I love shopping at this store, I can usually find what I need on the rare occasion that I can't they point me in the right direction. The owners are actually there, they actually interact and always go above and beyond. I couldn't be happier to shop at a local, small town business where every patron is a person to the staff and owners and not just dollar signs!

This is the most convenient store to go to in Chillicothe. They have a large variety of supplies needed for our household. I don't travel to Peoria often,I'd rather shop in town.im glad they are here.

Bought 5 fish and lost two within hours. Also lost one I had already established. The tanks were dirty. The water condition was horrible in over half the tanks, the choices were practically nil and the clerk had no idea what she was doing. She wasn't friendly at all. Won't be going back to the pet department. It's a waste of money.

This True Value hardware store in the small town of Chillicothe, IL. has been family owned and operated since the 1930's. This is a full-service hardware store, it just doesn't happen to qualify as an indoor lumberyard.Geiger is also a Stihl dealer, selling and servicing Stihl power equipment and other small power equipment. Geiger has an equipment rental department where they rent scaffolding, electric and gas-powered light construction eq. (Drain snakes, jack hammers, hammer drills, etc.) This equipment also requires Geiger to be knowledgeable in the inspection, repair, and service of a wide range of products.Geiger also has a full-service pet department with semi-exotic pets such as chinchillas, ferrets, geckos and the like. It is one of the few locations in the county where these animals are available.Overall Summary: My kids like coming here more than the Zoo and the Home Improvement Stores combined. And so do I!
