I don't have a dog, but my four legged nephew lives close by this store. I took him for a walk and he refused to move until we went in. He gets his food from there and knows the ladies are willing to give him love and a treat even when we did not buy anything. I have also purchase pet gifts here (festive collars, treats, toys, etc.)

Stopped here for some 🐶 shampoo/conditioner, shop was closed cause they had a company outing to the Cubs game. Manager pulled up while I was trying to figure out which one to walk to next. Instead, invited me in, gave his recommendation on the house. Will certainly be a repeat customer!!! Thank you. Thank you very much.

We love Urban Pooch! Our dog has been going here ever since he was able to at around four months old. He runs and pulls us to the front door when it's time to go to day care because he's so thrilled to be there. It's so clear he is wonderfully cared for, everyone is so kind, warm, and professional! At this point, it feels like a second home for him. We couldn't be more happy to have Urban Pooch in the neighborhood, I'd give them 10 stars if I could knowing how much love they give our dog.

Went there to get my dog's nails trimmed. She's a bit of a diva (monster, if you will) when it comes to getting her nails cut, but Andy did an amazing job. The shop is really nice too and they had plenty of unique treats for us to try. We'll definitely be coming back

Urban Pooch was like a 2nd home to our dog for his entire 15 years. He loved the staff and they loved him. He enjoyed every visit and we always felt so confident that our baby was in good hands when we were away. Highly recommend!!!

I come to this location a couple times a month for treats, food, and grooming. I love Urban Pooch in general and I even go to the one up north for training multiple times a week! Usually the environment and staff are quite friendly, but the past three times I visited this location there was a particular staff member that has been extremely off putting. I don’t normally write bad reviews, but hoping someone sees this and implements additional customer service training to improve the customer experience.I love supporting local stores and not shopping on Amazon, but the past few visits has been shifting my preference. I don’t expect white glove service, but being a neighborhood pet store you’d expect a certain type of enthusiasm and energy from the staff for their products and repeat customers.This feedback is specifically for one female cashier that seems to always be sitting at the computer next to the wall (not by the aisle where dogs come and go behind the counter to go to the back for grooming! Those ladies are my favorite and I adore them!)Examples from my last few visits:- I walk up to the desk and she makes no immediate eye contact. Usually have to stand there quite a few seconds before being acknowledged for checkout. Cold demeanor. I understand if this happens a couple times, but this is consistent behavior the last few times I’ve walked in to purchase something.- I asked about the point system urban pooch just started and a problem I had with a recent purchase not adding the points as I expected. I had the receipt. She shrugged her shoulders and said “I don’t know”. No further actions to help. Did not ask her coworkers if they knew any more information.- I asked her if my dog’s bath had the additional service that I called to schedule and if it was charged in the total. She said “I don’t know” and shrugged. Luckily our groomer walked out just at that moment and we were able to ask him for clarity.Overall complaint:Cold mannerisms. Inattentive or unaware of queue. Lacking motivation to take addition actions to resolve a customers questions or concerns. Seems uninterested or unenthusiastic to work in a pet store. Answers questions as if it was a bother to her day.I am putting a 2 star because I appreciate most of the other staff members, but I am tempted to solely shop at the northern location because the experience is much more consistently friendly.

Brought my new doggy, Jean Luc, a Bedlington Terrier, in for a groom by Kim. Kim did a masterful job, as always. The scheduling concierge was funny, kind, and efficient. The retail store lady was very helpful in finding a better fitting harness for the boy and finding some crinkly toys for him (his favorite!). Pooch has a wonderful selection of high quality foods, accessories, toys, and treats. I look forward to our many future visits for grooming and shopping!

We have used the day care here every other week and the dogs love it. While I have had some ups and downs with the staff, it was worth it to see how much the dogs enjoyed going there.The issues started when the per hour package was given an expiration date which seemed unfriendly to customers that need flexibility and aren't using the day care every day. Then, when picking up my guys from day care last week, I was told that the prices had skyrocketed and that there was no multiple dog discount.Now there are half day and full day charges with strict drop-off and pick up time cutoffs. So for our dogs to go for more than 4 hours, it will cost $112. I was told that the prices are consistent with comps, but on checking with coworkers, they aren't.I am all for the structure to give employees lunch breaks and heaven knows they could make more money, but this breaks it for me. I feel unseen and as if I am just a source of revenue. Very sad, but we won't be going back.

I really am sad to write this review, but unfortunately my experience at this location has been less than I had imagined. We have been taking our dog to the Damen location for 2 years for grooming & daycare and have loved every second there. We recently moved and decided to try the now closer, Ravenswood location in hopes of boarding him at the end of this month. We took our dog to daycare about 4-5 times to get him accustomed to the facility prior to being boarded, and after dropping him off at daycare one day I decided to go in the back viewing room and watch how he was doing for a quick second. Unfortunately I watched one of the counselors grab my dog by the neck and pull him across the room and into another room where the smaller dogs where. I was ABSOLUTELY blown away that instead of putting my dog on a leash, calling his name, or simply looking at him - that this random person grabbed him by the neck to drag him to the other room. My dog went straight to the ground and was terrified. After pulling one of the managers over (very privately & away from customers as to not make a scene), I was pretty much told that my dog loved it here and they were sad to see us go with nothing being said about holding that employee accountable. It has been about two weeks and I have not received any follow up calls/contact with management about this situation. We have been loyal customers to Urban Pooch for 2 years and I am disappointed with the way this situation was handled and have unfortunately lost trust in this establishment and the counselors handling the dogs. I can only hope that other dogs are not handled in this way and that this does not happen again.

My dog Cashew loves coming here for grooming and to shop. The staff is incredible, very kind and knowledgeable. The storefront offers a nice array of high quality toys, apparel, food, and more. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for excellent service.

GREAT FOR THE 1%!This place has beautiful facilities and great staff, but when did it become so cost prohibitive for the average working American to bring their dog to a daycare? I’m a CPS teacher, and I don’t make that much money. That doesn’t change the fact that I love my dog and want to give her the best life possible. The prices here are OUTRAGEOUS. It’s a shame that people like me who work in the public sector can’t afford these kinds of services for their pets. And I’m sure someone is going to respond with something about the going average rate for doggy day care in the area, but don’t be fooled: it’s not true. Dog daycares on the *north side* are uniquely priced WAY WAY WAY above other parts of the city. Shame on you, Urban Pooch!

Urban pooch is simply the best. The screening process was easy and comforting to know they make sure all the dogs there will be friendly in the group. They were incredibly flexible for both the planned boarding for the birth of my son (4am drop off!) and the emergency boarding after our house had a fire. I know my dog has amazing time there because he always run right in. All the staff are really helpful and friendly. Can’t recommend More highly.

My dog always comes out of her appointment relaxed, happy, and looking adorable. She’s a 14 year old Lhasa and pops out of the groomer with the cutest & freshest puppy cut I’ve ever seen. Amber is the best—so talented and a total professional. Wouldn’t bring my dog anywhere else.

They aren't taking new dogs at their Ravenswood location, which tells you all you need to know about the place. We've been taking our rescue boxer here for years and he adores it. They are friendly, loving, and super professional canine experts who might love the dogs more than we do. Recently they added some great technological upgrades to make it easier to track vaccinations and make appointments. Having gone to other doggy daycare places that don't even ask for proof of vaccination, their strict commitment to safety is much appreciated.

Edit: I'm also fairly certain that some of the positive reviews are fake. Such as the one claiming their dog went to Urban Pooch for 15 years, when they have only been open since 2009. Beware of the positive reviews.My personal experience with the daycare was not a pleasant one. My dog attended daycare there 2 or 3 days a week for under one month. In that period of time, he had gone from a playful social dog, to a dog that was absolutely terrified of dogs and people. For a period of time, he even snapped at dogs who approached him.This was very surprising since he has been boarded at different facilities and homes where he had been comfortable for his stay.While watching from the viewing room, I noticed that most of the daycare attendants barely interact with the dogs, and sometimes only look up from their phones to scream at the dogs. I also noticed them banging on the walls when they are losing control of the room. Not much quality interaction between the dogs and the people who work there.It has taken months to get my dog back to the point where he wants to be social with other dogs. I would recommend watching from the viewing room for a good amount of time and regularly. If your dog starts behaving out of character, maybe there is something wrong with the environment.

Great place and good staff, however, not sure open roaming 24/7 is good for all dogs as there is no down time. We boarded our bully mix for 5 days. She came home with a a few superficial bite wounds, confirmed by our vet, And exhausted and stressed. So don’t think we’ll be boarding here again. But the staff is great.just not the place for our dog.

Urban Pooch is the daycare for our dog. They have great staff, their grooming is booked well in advance for good reason, and their store has a lot of great stuff which is also rotating quickly so we find ourselves buying from them often. Great, fun, and caring staff.

This review is for the boarding service at the Ravenswood location. I used it twice and will never go there again.Both times I boarded my dog there, she came home emaciated even though I gave her 50% more food than she normally eats. Literally, her spine, hips and ribs were sticking out when I picked her up.The second time she went there, she started shaking as she got close to the place because she was scared and didn’t want to go there. After her recent stay, she was clingy and listless upon returning home and now she’s peeing on the floor.Urban Pooch does not communicate with you after you drop off your dog. There are no emails, photos, or updates at all. They said I can call to check on my dog, but when I called they made me feel idiotic, as if I’m the only person who cares about how their dog is doing during a week-long stay. Clearly there was a problem with her food but they did not tell me.She’s boarded at another place for extended periods, and didn’t come home emaciated, clingy or with potty issues. I thought the open space without kennels was a good idea, but I’m not so sure it’s good for boarding. I thought the long waitlist to become a customer, multiple temperament tests, and higher prices meant my dog was getting the best service and lots of attention, but I think I was wrong. I will never take her there again.

Highly recommended to anyone looking for a reliable place to bring their dog. I've also done training with them! Wonderful teachers.
