The manager here makes my life. I come into the store regularly with my doodle, and she literally stops what she's doing and -- get this -- comes to my dog and says, "I love you, Duchess!" to give her snacks. The quality of care from how they lay out the store, to knowing the dogs and the owners in the community melts me.

I’ve been taking my dog here to be groomed for almost 2 years and after his last appointment, we will not be returning. As usual they tell me it will take 2-3 hours. After the 4th hour passes, I call and they inform me he won’t be ready for another hour and a half. My dog is the size of a loaf of bread and he wasn’t even there for a full haircut. They had him in a cage for over 3 hours before they even started working on him. To top it all off, they didn’t even finish the job and offered to finish it the next day “for free”. If I didn’t come to get him before they told me to, he would’ve been in that small room for over 5 hours with no food and no potty break. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for grooming services.

Racist and very prejudice in there handling of adoptions. And I’m glad I’m not the only person who’s brought this up as there is another review on here from a mother and her daughter both being Black folks. My story starts with the manager telling me she personally handles narrowing down candidates and that she wants to make sure they go to a great home. No problem, we are on the same page. I’m a pet person and have had my pets for half my lifetime in a loving home. I’ve had 4 applications rejected back to back for different kittens. I don’t know what they want from a potential candidate. I’m starting to think the manager is in no way making decisions in good faith but rather in a prejudice manner. All in all terrible experience, I don’t know whether you need to be from the lgbtq community or just be white. But if you’re neither they look at you like you’re unviable or some type of caveman that lacks the emotional intelligence and cognizance of handling an animal. I’ve been to a plethora of pet smarts in my lifetime and have actually adopted before on the same day so I don’t know what these people are doing in this branch. If I could give a 0 star I would.

Meh. Smaller footprint store means they don't carry the refrigerated food I purchase for my dog, instead staff recommends I go down the street to other stores. Interesting way to pay the bills. Prices are high, but expected for the area.

I’ve been taking my dog here to get groomed for probably 11 or 12 months now, and though every staff member I’ve worked with has been lovely, Kayla V. stands out from the rest. My dog has horrible anxiety and won’t let me anywhere near her nails, but somehow, Kayla, the dog whisper she is, manages to get my dog not only to calm down and sit still but to also just enjoy the service. She’s helped me identify the root of an over-shedding issue, as well as recommended some products to continue her care at home. I know each time my dog comes back from Kayla, she’s going to smell, look, and feel fantastic! Highly highly highly recommend getting your pups groomed by Kayla V.!

Worst and most upsetting grooming experience ever for my senior pup. He’s been in grooming for four full hours because the grommet working on him had to leave because she got a phone call about her car! So left Jack who is 15 years old on the table I’m the middle of services. No one called me to explain what was happening and I finally got so worked about how long he was in grooming I came to the store in person. I am livid that my frail senior pup was treated so carelessly and that no one picked up a phone or texted me to explain what was going on. He is never coming back to the Halsted Street Petsmart location for grooming ever again.

I went there for my dogs nails, and the groomer was absolutely awesome. She recommended a grind since my dogs nails are black and can't see the veins. It was safer this way and I didn't know that before hand. So I'm thankful. Great service great groomers.

Racist PetSmart:My mother and I, both Black, went into this PetSmart hoping to adopt a kitten. Knowing that the kittens were with/under the Anti-Cruelty Society we figured it would be a same day adoption process. We walked into the store and we were greeted rudely and looked at as if we should've been in the store. It took my mother to ask what we came to the store for rather then them asking us. When going to look at a kitten we wanted, we weren't asked any questions nor if we needed any help. After filling out an adoption inquiry (being told earlier that they don't do same day adoption), we were told we would be called in a day or two if we were approved. We were not called and I had call myself and was told that kitten was already given away. Although the racism was covert it's still none the less racist. I will not be returning to this store and hope that no other Black people or other people of color will find themselves at this store.

Very helpful employees. I was greeted when I walked in and asked if I needed help. I did, so this was very nice. He helped me find what I needed for my cat who isn't feeling well, but can't get a vet appointment for a month.

I was just in this store. I witnessed the groomer acting like a maniac, the phone wouldn’t stop ringing so she yelled at the cashiers and then she took a small dog in back to clip her nails. The dog was yelping and she made the dog bleed, all while the owner was watching. Honestly, I was in disbelief and I do not recommend ANYONE to bring their pets here for grooming. Other than that the store is nice and convenient, other staff is always very nice. There is just no reason to be acting this way. If you can’t keep calm you shouldn’t be a dog groomer

New to the neighborhood, so decided to bring in our doodle for a groom. Would not come back. Took 4 hours for the groomer to finish and did not at all take into consideration what we wanted for his groom to look like. One size all around. For how much it costs to get a groom here, you would think you’d be a little more satisfied.

Adopted a beautiful Russian blue cat. The associate who helped us that morning went above and beyond by expediting the adoption process for us! We were able to take her home the day we saw her.The store is always well stocked with food, toys,cat caring products, and the associates are always helpful and kind.

I just wanted to write a review about how kind & personable the staff is at this location. I have been shopping here since I moved to Chicago a few years ago & every time I come in I always leave a little more cheerful. Plus, they are the only store in Boystown that stocks the name brand Churus. 10/10.

This is a nice place. The staff are always super friendly and helpful (even on busy cubs days!) and the shelves are always stocked and presentable. The store has plenty of supplies and offers grooming services and tag engraving, as well as cat adoptions from this location. I adopted my cat here and she's the sweetest thing, the staff all took great care of her and the other cats there. It's a partnership with local shelters and not pet mills or suppliers so you can feel good about bringing a pet home from the store. Haven't had a complaint yet about the service I've received here and doubt I ever will. Definitely reccomended, even just to pick up the basic supplies every now and again. Great place.

Absolutely love this store! Every staff member is so friendly and they always help with anything I need. Every staff member genuinely seems to love their jobs and all the pets that enter the store. Nicole in the grooming department is so sweet and loves our puppy. We always feel comfortable leaving him with her. Always a great experience at this location!

I would give it 5 stars but that would only be because I adopted my cat from them. I kept my cat on the food she was eating before being adopted. I’m happy to see that they seem to always have a supply (Simply Nouris dry cat food.) The associates are always friendly and the store is clean.)

witnessed a groomer mistreating a dog while checking out and when she made eye contact with me she knew she was caught doing something wrong and immediately stopped but I’m still concerned for the animals that go get groomed there…there is no reason a groomer should be aggressively handling a dog while it’s being dried as the dog is already secure. I really hated seeing her aggressively grab that dogs face and neck and she had frustration behind that grab too. If you are not passionate about animals please do not go near them and mistreat them. Please choose another job. They do not have the voice to speak up those poor babies.

Very underwhelming service - I took my dog for a furminator which included a bath and special brush - and she got back - not fully dry (which is more understandable) and based on our visits before, it didn’t seem she was brushed properly and they charged for the special brush - the whole service was performed in less than and hour and a half - so I am sure it wasn’t done properly. When we brush her at home there is less hair afterwards. When she’s gone before it takes longer as expected.

Friendly employees! Not a huge store though, so the selection is somewhat limited, especially when it comes to more natural products....Wish they'd expand that selection! I take my fur baby to be groomed here, too, and while he hates it like most dogs he doesn't seem stressed out after the service unlike a previous groomer I went to.

Have taken my Rottweiler for two previous grooming services at this location before. The first two bath/ brush plus hempz treatment was done by Elizabeth. Both times my Rottie smelled amazing and I didn’t need to brush her for several days 5 stars for Elizabeth! However, took her again on Monday and she was groomed by Hannah for the same service. She was not even brushed, she has chunks of hair coming off. She doesn’t even smell good! Seems like some powder or dry shampoo was put on her, she has white bits all under her coat. For $60 for a bath and brush not satisfied at all!!!

Workers are super friendly and passionate about their jobs. Ran in here one time 10 minutes before close because I realized I had adopted a dog in the winter and didn't have a coat for my dog. The employee was understanding and did his best to help find the right size. So happy to live right down the street from this petsmart! Thank you.
