I am from TX & as a southerner, I was definitely in awe when I walked in here. I was totally caught off guard when I noticed the grocery store had a buffet of hot food! I am not used to anything like that. the closest to a grocery store with a mini restaurant inside in Houston is Costco. And that is a bore seeing how you have to have a membership just to buy, it’s annoying. I was also in joy when I seen their cupcakes! the strawberry cheesecake cupcakes… ARE LITERALLY TO DIE FOR. seriously. I will be back in the summertime to really shop at the local market. BUT! I do want to advise those that even if you are getting cold or hot foods, ALWAYS CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE! i bought a southwestern salad and had to throw it away because the lettuce wilted and smelled. if you are getting cold foods like soup, chicken salad or even a regular salad… eat it the same day or the next. don’t wait to save it for a different moment, it’s not gonna be good. I’m telling you, you will be upset. always ask the cooks how long has hot foods been sitting out, what time did the (let’s say shrimp fried rice) was cooked? always make sure! people nowadays will be selfish and not care for others.

I truly hate this place they are over priced considering what others say not much of a variety at all just what they assume people in the neighborhood would eat. I assume the price gorging is for the low income as I could never see how a bag of frozen blueberries cost 17.98! Outrageous and the fresh are 7.99! Not organic . I only went as my car were down at the time and I needed to buy some groceries .

The buffet is so good. The boneless jerk is my favorite I like to put it on top of the fettuccine with chicken and spinach. I love the baked sweet potatoes they are slightly sweet, the best flavor, trust me, I'm the queen of candid yams so I know. There's are perfect. The fish, so many choices of BAKED fish and all delicious. I love ❤️ this place.

Stopped in Local Market today to grab some lunch and found out they offer my FAVORITE on-the-go quick bite, Soul Vegan!!Some of the employees in this establishment aren’t as friendly as other place but the amazing produce section makes up for lack of customer support.The prices are fair, the produce area, and did I mention that Local Market Foods has Soul Vegan products on the shelves…

Stopped in for the buffet. 9.99 a lb. , mashed potatoes were good, potato salad tasted like dill Pickles, it was different but good. Brisket was a little tough, same for the bbq ribs. Macaroni okay, rice so-so. Overall, the buffet was a little on the salty side, but it's not that bad, i guess. Ribs and brisket were a little chewy, like they were a little dried out from sitting, maybe. The store is pretty big, with a large selection. Bathrooms were clean. You can instacart from this store. It's kinda like a better Marianos. The meat department has a larger selection of meats and meat organs than I've seen anywhere. Great if you have pets on a raw diet.

This place is awesome. A wide variety of food, cleaning supplies, a great Hot, Olive and salad bar at very reasonable prices. Please pay this store a visit. Id give them 10 stars if I could.

Prices are sky high. I live right down the street and never shop there. They are ripping people off. Shop at Aldi, or food for less even marianos is cheaper and they have better quality meat and produce, and sells. You will save a ton of money.

Every Piece of meat that I’ve bought from that store expires within two days of you buying it. I guess you truly do get what you pay for.Try to get a birthday cake from there said I needed a vanilla cake. They gave me a chocolate one don’t know how the label was mislabeled, but it was so that was an entire cake wasted.If this is The service that I get living in this community then I will shop in a different community.

Overall love the store but do wish the cake slices in the bakery were actually fresh . I bought 5 cakes and only the banana pudding one was fresh , everything else was stale .

I purchased Salmon Steaks today and got them home to cook them and the skin had scales. I had to get all the scales off before cooking it. I'm done.

Overpriced on item selectionsUpon entering you have to check bag in at the entrance. Security guards are unaware of who bags they are checking out at the timeAnd give your personal bag away. Overall not a very good system

This place should be shutdown.They are selling old meat in the hot food, butchers and seafood. Even their canned goods are questionable. I’ve only ever seen rusted canned goods at this store.

Love having a quality grocery store in the community (w-great fresh produce & affordable produce prices)however not giving more stars due to dismissive manager interaction. Regardless of if it’s near closing time or not patrons deserve respect to understand why there is only ONE checkout line while manager & others puts plastic bags in order, etc. it occurred to me that perhaps all the other registers had already been closed out and the manager could have simply explained the reason. I didn’t appreciate him speaking to me very curtly & only addressing my question about opening an additional checkout line with “well get everyone out....” or something like that dismissively. Our community has greater intelligence than that sir. Really??!! The line was 1/2 up the aisle. And if any upper mgmt above this is reading these reviews it was at 8:50pm ish on Mon Oct 5, if you care to take it up with that manager which I hope you do. And BTW tell your cashiers don’t assume everyone has a LINK card pls cause I pay with cash. No shame or shade to those who do use LINK, we all gotta eat.

The security guy took me out of the store with the excuse that you didn't want to leave the store when I was already walking to the door about to touch me and take me out himself for that type of security that doesn't matter if they hurt the customers Ono this was My first and my last time I shop in that store, the security people who fight and talk to the customers are very racist

Its the closest thing to a food store in South shore besides jewel. Offers a variety of food but some prices are higher than jewel. I try to look for sales as they have them daily. Some cashiers aren't customer friendlyMorning butcher in the morning actually knows how to treat customers. The after noon one time didn't know that advertising clearly means it's advertised..

I recently moved to this area, and decided to do a a tour of 71st and Jeffery to see what type of stores are over here. I had NO idea this nice little supermarket existed! I purchased a watermelon that is sweeter than any I have gotten from other stores(Jewel, Sav-A-Lot, etc). I also brought corn on the cob juicy and sweet, not hard. I also got pop much cheaper than any of the other stores in this area. Everything in here looks decent and clean, and the cashiers are nice and professional. I definitely will be doing my future shopping here! One complaint that I have, you really need more shopping carts, especially on days when the store is crowded!

While in route home and taking a shortcut, I stopped by the 'Local Market" The selection appeared excellent, and the price points appeared fair. However, the management/ customer service members proved to be disappointingly unprofessional and condescending.During my shopping experience, I visited the bakery to purchase a slice of cake... It was confusing as the cake slices were not labeled, so a customer really had to guess the cake, frosting and ingredients, which is DISASTER FOR PERSONS WITH FOOD ALLERGIES... There was no staff available in the bakery to help, the cashiers were also clueless. The slice I purchased appeared to be a cream cheese frosting The manager confirmed if it did not meet my expectations to return it. When I arrived home, although it was appetizing to the eyes, the cake slice 'did not' meet my expectation... the frosting was a sugar overload... too much!! When I was back in the area, I attempted to return the cake, and the reception that I received from customer service, was as though I stole something!! I had a challenge locating the purchase receipt, and at lease three members including Fernando from management came to investigate, to examine me and the cake (a $3 cake) I was treated horribly. I explained the situation to no avail. It was clearly their product. how disappointing, just for returning a $3 cake... The following day I returned with the correct receipt, and this time Fernando summoned an person named Bill... I could tell by Bill's abrasive approach that he and Fernando had a conversation. Bill was not cordial, he immediately took the offense. I had to ask Bill to calm down. Bill was loud and his treatment toward me was truly inhumane, again all over a $3 slice of cake. The management team needs training on diversity and respect!!! it is unethical, and shameful, that Local Market hires such a degrading type of talent, that these would jeopardize their reputation and loosing a customer for a $3 cake, esp. when the customer has their purchase receipt!!HERE'S A SOLUTION - LABEL YOUR PRODUCTS AND TRAIN YOUR OFFENSIVE STAFF...

This is a big beautiful Grocery store with a full line of groceries for all race ethnicity the deli and bakery departments are so fresh and clean with all kinds of varieties that I didn't know was available the staff is so nice and respectful . I love this store for all my shopping needs.
