I’ve been going to Golden’s since I was a kid. It’s one of my favorite fish stores but the new guy (I believe his name is Tony) is not friendly at all. I went in yesterday at 6:30, (they don’t close until 7) and as I walked through the door he stated they were closing in 5 mins. I was shopping for a Betta tank. The young lady was going to look in the back and before she could look he told her there were none and we have 2 mins. He was so rude that I decided to take my business else where. I’ve also seen him being rude to the older lady that has been working there for years. His customer service and demeanor sucks! I spend a ton of money here but if this is what I have to deal with I’ll be spending my money else where. Highly disappointed and dissatisfaction with my last visit.

They took my african clawed frog because he was eating all my fish and I purchased new fish to incorporate in my tank. The family was nice that owns the place. My family has been going there for a few generations

I love this store. The store carries everything that you may need for your pet. If they don't have stock, they will order it for you. A very friendly establishment!

I been going there for about 35 years now. I was never let down until today. I was told i was a preferred customer. Then i was lied to about the price. "They are marked 69. But they are really 79". I was told. Game recognizes game from the beginning. "So we will let you get all 4 for 69.00 each thats the deal you get for being a preferred customer ". So i paid the full price and was told i was getting a discount for being a preferred customer . They seemed thirsty today. On my final purchase the taxes came out to 6.66 . So that put up a red flag in the spiritual realm for me. I seeked Wisdom from the Holy Spirit and came to the understanding in the spiritual realm . Theres a jezebel /ahab thing going on over there, so i will no longer go there. Yes i am a preferred customer, i prefer to go elsewhere.

Best pet store in Chicago! I've been going there for 35 years. Healthier fish than any other store in this city! Tony is alright! Everyone has a bad day sometimes! And he has been working on his feet for 8 hours! Hey lady have some compassion for him, imagine if you worked on your feet for 8 hours and he came to your job and stopped you from going home at the assigned time? How would you treat him? Next time go earlier. I think Tony's last job was a bouncer in a lounge. Lol.just kidding. I love goldens pet store and everyone in it. Tony is a hard worker, he is very helpful to Mr Golden. And he is loyal to Mr Golden. That's what matters the most! If you want healthy fish; then go to Golden's. if you don't then go somewhere else!

I was just there today and when I walked up to the store I seen Mr Golden outside. So when I finally got there tony comes wheeling out the stand that goes with the 55 g. Tank that tony had already put in the back seat of a small car. Getting a 55 tank and stand and all the accessories in a small car is a job all in itself but tony figured it out! He bounced it right in the car and the customer drove away happy.

The what appears 2 b " family owned business " is drenched with love and caring from the matriarch herself and trickles down onto each and every customer like Niagara Falls in prime season. She along with a family staff bring good service with a smile, 2 answer your every pet questions and so forth. U guys r awesome. And thank u 4 serving our community with pride and professionalism....!!!

LOVE this place! Black owned family business. They are so helpful and knowledgeable about all things fish. They are also very caring and compassionate about taking care of the fish. We bought our tank here and they answer questions over the phone and are so helpful in the store that we keep going back. Today I went in to buy some food and asked them the best way to clean the tank. The guy helping me went and grabbed equipment and provided a full demonstration!

Family owned. Great service mostly pond and aquarium supplies. Plenty of feeder fish. Koi reasonably price and healthy not like pets smart koi. Free parking in front. Very helpful on advice for new fish enthusiast.

This Black owned business was packed when they opened and yet they were attentive to my 6 year old who was looking for the perfect fish for his birthday. We left with a glow in the dark tank and they explained to him that he cannot get the fish until the tank is set up. My son is looking forward to going back tomorrow to pick out his fish!

Excellent place to get top quality fish. Fresh water and salt. Very knowledgeable, kind staff. I have been going for over 6 years, and I live in Broadview. I always find cool, unique, exotic stuff there.

"Great customer service just not a large selection of pets but still a great place with an awesome experience is what I put at 1st and I'm pro black owned businesses...but I bought an eel from them that I was told was a fresh water and it died only to later research that it was brackish. I called to share the info I learned so that they could better inform their customers only to be told that " I have sold them for 30yr with no complaints and I'm on lunch and want to finish" this is where people mess up and lose customers. If I sold or adopted someone an animal in my care I would share what has worked for me and not rebuttal with "that's why we have phones to do our own research". You should be able to trust your local pet store and hope that they would give you accurate information and not have to not trust their advice and go behind them and confirm[if you trusted them]. This was a major disappointment and the response I got was to be honest devastating after the optimal customer service I got while spending my money smh. Please do better ...please 🙏

The couple who own this place are beautiful.However, I bought a beta fish there a week ago, and when I got him home, I'd taken notice, that I'd yet again have spent my hard earned coin on another sick fish from this place. The beta had frayed fins, which is a tell tell sign, that the beta fish was sick when I purchased him. This is not the first time, that I bought a sick fish from this place. A friend of mine, who introduced me to this place, bought sick fish from this place.I tried for seceral day's now to treat the fish with antibiotics to no avail. He died this morning.Never again will I patronize this store.

This this store has all the quality fish you and reptiles you can look for from feeder fresh angelfish Birds iguanas saltwater fish I've been coming to this place since I was 9 years old and I'm 51 now mr. Goldberg also used to have his own TV show he was a fitness instructor not just that it's a black owned business you should visit and support but they are the friendliest people very helpful to your needs and make sure you take home the best fish so you can your family can be happy I recommend them more to five star

Came in today for a fish for Child Barbra was so sweet and nice help me tremendously because i kno nothing about fish. Everything was great until Eric Golden (owners son) steeped in very rudely i purchased my items he didn’t bag something i really needed got all the way home he was rude and sarcastic and when i came in he continued i will be calling to talk to owner.

Been going there for years....raised my kids and grandkids now I'm starting on my great grandkids giving them a tank and fish to take care of also. Love the place and the staff is so helpful especially the little lady....she is the sweetest

The people are very friendly black owned business. Very professional, the prices are reasonable. Way better than Petco. I live in Calumet City and I'm willing to take the ride and do my business with Golden's Tropical World. One thing I noticed that whenever I buy a fish from there they last a very long time. I have bought three fish from Petco and they died the next day. So I took them back and they told me I need my water sample. So I went home and got a water sample and it was perfect . My water was perfect. So they refunded me my money. Lesson learn take my dollars to Golden's.

Very good staff. They have very good healthy big fish. Prices are great and a good variety of fish. They even have great prices on fish tanks and fish supplies. I will come back another day!
