Aisles usually blocked up with things going in and out - employees walk by items/clothing on floor, but make sure to play lots of loud & often vulgar music when they get around to shelves. Usually drama but last straw today with register girl on phone making bday party plans whole time she rang me up-only pausing to shove 4 heavy rubber backed floor mats at me & say I don't have no bag for that - to top it off her shirt read FU2-really?! Couldn't read all the tattoos covering her arms but probably had similar sentiments-I won't be back even though it is close-not worth the unpleasant experience every single time. Oh yes & the time I accidentally bought expired lunch meat-when I got home saw it was wks past date!! If I could I would give 0 stars!

Poor customer service from the managers. The light skinned black lady with the big eyes look at you and speak to you very disrespectful then you got the black manager with the braids or dreads which ever talk to you and treat you the same way or worse both of them need to be gone from this location. I have been shopping there for 15yrs I am elderly and I need this store close to my home they make you don't want to go in there and shop. I feel they are part of the problem with something violent always going wrong with this store. They need to be removed for not respecting the customers and not doing a good job with stocking the store and displaying the correct pricing of items on the shelves. I want to contact the owner of this store on 71st Paxton and report these incidents to the ALDERMAN we deserve better service and the community is going to get it.

Definitely a no frills retail establishment with a budget conscious shopper in mind. This trip was to get some art supplies that a competitor didn't have available and I ended up not buying those but AAA batteries instead and some food items.Great place to find grocery deals and usually art supplies.

On Friday, May 20th, 2022, at 11:54am I was disrespected profusely by an employee of yours at the South Shore location at 2159 E. 71st Street, Chicago, IL 60649. I was leaving from a nearby meeting in the area and stopped in the store to grab a bottled water. When I entered the store, I was told by a guy in plain clothes who I didn't know was an employee that I would have to check my bookbag in. I then stated to him that I was just grabbing a water (he was right next to the coolers) and not going down any aisles, plus I have a code that needs to be entered for me to get in my bookbag (which I did not state to him). He told me that I was good, and I proceeded to the checkout line with my water. While in the line, the person working the register started saying disrespectful things about me but to another customer. I asked was she referring to me and she stated that she was and then asked if I assumed that she was going to bite her tongue. She then continued to be disrespectful to me and even started to use profanity towards me. I then asked for a manager because I didn't appreciate how she was talking to me, and that's when I found out that not only was the guy in plain clothes a manager, but he was lost and prevention. This wasn't mentioned until I asked for the manager, and she came to the front to see what the issue was. The manager apologized for what I experienced but the employee continued with the insults as she left from the register. I would like for you guys to do a complete overhaul of the employees there at that location. It's bad enough what people are experiencing on a regular since the pandemic, but to have a person continuously being insulted and disrespected by one of your employees is ridiculous! Then, once you've done that, please provide your new employees with adequate customer service training when it comes to dealing with the public.

Went to buy some Christmas decorations but that aisle looked like a bomb hit it.I did find some gift bows. I also got a cool box set of bath gel and lotion. Very well run. The staff working their butts off.

Unorganized store, only one employee with customer service skills. She's a cashier, but the rest of the staff is terrible. Never been at ANY other store that makes you reach across the counter to get your own receipt. Instead of using headphones like most people, employees play their personal music on their phones speakers while working. Meaning you shop and listen to profane music and cursing.. unfortunately there's no other stores close and i hate going out my way for a pack of pull ups or a gallon of milk. I

Hate coming here. But when need tissue and other fast items IF they have it in stock I have to come here since its walking distance. Prices are not put up right or items placed wrong. Manager doesn't know much either on how to check or ring up a price or over ride I was in line and he couldn't or didn't want to. Other to help me anymore when an item wouldnt ring up so he sent me to the other line, she couldn't do it so she says u have to go back to him I said just forget the item. She then wanted to help me again. Thanks "Manager" great customer service, (sarcastically).

I was in there for the last time! Everyone is nice except the cashier alerted me that they ran out of receipt paper! Who does that!? Management apparently didn't order any! Only in black neighborhoods! Also I am leaving South Shore period after 17 years as I would like to shop places where I don't need to check in my bags when I enter! Clear folks certainly don't have that problem! Good day!

The personnel here are lacking in customer service. I was accused of stealing by a clerk and pockets checked by the manager. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. Especially to be 56yrs old. Then the manager asked if I wanted to purchase the items that I had in my hand. I'll never go to this store ever again. Hate it.

Small, cramped, and rather disorganized. Of all the family dollars I've been to, this one is the worst. The atmosphere isn't all the great, and the store itself looks rather worn. The mood hasn't change from any of my visits, and the employees are very comfortable as opposed to moderately professional in front of customers. It's a bit of a pain coming to this family dollar, as it just doesn't feel all too great.They usually don't have everything I'm looking for, compared to other family dollars, but it does get the job done for your basic needs.

You have rude females who talk unprofessional and used a maximum of slang . I’m afraid to ask questions because the responses don’t be any help just smacking lips and rolled eyes . The cashier has a problem with couples who come in together because she controls customer’s preferences. She also use profanity and lie to customers about stock shipment times.

The cashier was professional. The store however, was not well stocked, floor had water puddles on floor. This would be a wonderful place to shop it's convenient, close to home. But needs improvement.

The most unprofessional people ever! This place only survives because it's the only option in this area. Lyiesha is crazy, loud, combative and will threaten customers. Just avoid this place at all cost! FYI I don't have to give you my backpack or any bag! Family Dollar in Schaumburg has never requested this. I don't like being accused of theft before I even shop! Learn the law family Dollar. Trash!

This location is closed! Don't waste your time or call before coming. I waited 10 dollars in a Lyft ride. Whoever is the manager at this location needs to update the voicemail and Google maps ASAP. This is the most basic and polite thing to do especially in neighborhoods where there's not a lot of options.

Not many things in stock, open candy packaging on the floors. The cashier's are disrespectful and lazy. Once a saw an employee sneak a frozen burrito in his pocket while restocking. So glad it is under new management.

Large selection of the typical dollar store stuff. Good for paper goods. The food section is 98% junk. NO DIET SODAS! Unbelievable. This corner is definitely much calmer than the madness to be found at the Walgreens on Jeffrey.

DO NOT GO HERE! GHETTO MANAGER! Walked in store and was literally shoved out because the system was down. Instead of explaining to people what was happening, store manager Marcus was very rude, and belligerent. No customer service skills. Even in difficult times you treat people with respect and NO RESPECT WAS GIVEN. I don't expect this store to be open very long. Will never shop here again.

I went to this store today only for some products to help my family deal with this extreme cold. The store was closed for a couple of months and was supposed to be opening, according to a manager that worked there. I Googled it and it said open. I took a Uber there for them to be closed. The employees inside came running out saying they can't control what Family Dollar is reporting online. So unprofessional.

This is the worst Family Dollar I’ve ever been in, staff is very unprofessional and GHETTO, we really need to do better, being that South Shore doesn’t have a lot of options when it comes to convince you’re forced to come here. Please train your staff on customer service or you will no longer have a business.

The place is supposed to be open at 7am. I showed up at the store at 7:45 and they were not open. Staff is very rude and they never have anything in stock. If you don’t want to work then don’t come in. If your hours are wrong then fix it.
