Abell is wonderful. We’ve been to a few other vets and have never received this level of care and compassion for our pet! Their knowledge is impressive, and they always listen and never try to oversell. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Highly recommend Dr Gaber and Dr Singh, they have treated so many of our dogs over the years, including Yeti, Hans, Juniper, Wyatt and many of our fosters. When we said goodbye to June after doing everything we could, they gave us the most comforting experience. They also know when to make referrals to specialists which is so important. Not every vet is created equally and this one is one of the best in the city.

Dr. Singh and the team take such great care of Messi and Nicholas! They treat them as if they are their own dogs. We are very well cared for and appreciate it!

Our dog began experiencing GI issues and chronic diarrhea in November so we brought him to get checked out. During our initial visit the doctor had asked if there were any changes in diet or lifestyle. While the diet had not changed, we have a toddler and were expecting a new born. We were told the changes around the house were a likely cause and to continue monitoring. After no improvement, we brought him back in to test for parasites. It was identified that he had a tape worm and we were prescribed medication for that. The cycle of medication ran its course and we had seen no improvement so we came back for further testing as we were told the tapeworm test was likely a false positive. From there we were told that our dog had developed an allergic reaction to his food and would have to switch to a specialized diet. The specialized diet treating for the allergy then ran its course with no significant improvements. Our dog hovers around 33 lbs and was down almost 20% of his body weight at this point. After that, the doctor had called back and said they realized now that he had a pancreatic issue and prescribed a new medication to put on top of his food. Because an allergy was not the issue and the specialized diet was extremely expensive, we switched back to his original food with the pancreatic medication. We had slight improvement so it was advised we increase the dosage to the point which has brought him back to a healthy weight and limited diarrhea. This all spanned the course of over 4 months and the numerous visits, testing, prescriptions led to thousands of dollars in charges. Since the proper treatment spanned that long, it also delayed our dogs yearly wellness check, preventing us from bringing him to daycare to socialize with other dogs.He was approved for his wellness check last week and my wife took him in for that today. When she came back she told me how much the visit cost and I had called the office as I had concerns. I was told that Cheryl, the Practice Manager, would call back to discuss. When she called she asked me to outline what occurred to which I mentioned all the above as well as my displeasure with Abell’s transparency regarding pricing on treatment plans. She assured me that Abells policy is to always provide itemized cost for every treatment plan a doctor recommends and that my wife must have misunderstood. As a result of that call, I spoke with my wife and she mentioned she was given no written or emailed treatment plan, just a baggie with paperwork regarding teeth cleaning and his vaccination status, then an emailed receipt after she paid. I immediately called Cheryl back to let her know that my wife’s “misunderstanding” was not a misunderstanding at all, we received no treatment plan. Cheryl put me on hold and confirmed that what my wife said was true despite Cheryl’s initial accusation of her being incorrect. We’ve now looked back and this was not the first time we lacked an itemized treatment plan before payment. Our dog is 4 years old and Abell has been the Animal Hospital we’ve taken him too since adoption. He’s not had medical issues up until November so we had not experienced any issues with Abell until then either. Since then, the lack of transparency, the extended length of time and money it took to get an accurate diagnosis has us questioning whether Abell ever had our pets best interest in mind.

This is the best vet clinic that I have ever been to! If I could, I would give this vet clinic 10+ stars. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and they have always been super accommodating with appointments and treatments. They are very professional and are great with wait times as I have had a terrible experience at my previous vet. There is no other place I would take my pets. The doctors are always thorough with their exams and explanations. They recommend a variety of treatments that best fit your pet. The technicians are so loving and do the best they can to make sure my pets are comfortable through out their visits. I recommend this vet to anyone in the Chicago land area. We love Abell!

Such a great vet office! The vets here are very knowledgeable and sweet. They take their time with their patients and ask a lot of good questions. I am so impressed with the quality of service here. Everyone moves seamlessly to put you in the room and to transport their patients to the back when necessary. All in all, a great place!

I cannot recommend this place enough. High quality care, great staff. The doctor was super detailed in our conversation, gave me great recommendations on cat care and diet and was very patient with my injured cat. From check in to check out was a breeze. So happy we found this place for our pet care.

I got a new puppy and my friends and family recommended different vets. I found Abell online and read really good reviews. Had my first visit and i can say hands down that the staff and the doctors are the best. We will continue to bring Sir moving forward.

Cute little welcome sign on the door for my pup. Great and kind service from everyone(front desk, tech, vet). No vet is cheap but I felt comfortable with all the testing and medications that were recommended. Feeling relieved to have found a new vet given our old vet passed away.

We received poor care from Abell - not just in regular appointments, but especially when seeking emergency care. They were dismissive and deeply unhelpful - we went elsewhere for care, and won't be coming back!

For too many years to count, I have brought all my cats do Dr. Singh. From babies to seniors. He is the most genuine, kind and caring veterinarian that I have ever met. My cat, Samantha, lived to be 27 years under his care. He kept her content and happy through cancer, blindness and loss of hearing. I didn't know what to do. He said, dont put her down. She will let you know when she’s ready. Im so glad that i took his advice because she did. Once again, he cared for the rescue that i have now. At 3 months old, she had been drugged, beaten and thrown against the wall bt. 6-foot, 209-pound man. Even though she endured hell, she loved Dr. Singh from the moment that she saw him. He has a way with animals like no one else. The only time that i put her in a carrier is to go for a visit. She gets ecstatic when she sees him. He could do anything to her snd she stands there like a statue. Due to the beatings she endured, Doctor did special blood work to ensure she didnt have cancer. She’s 10 years old this month. We are late on an annual checkup due to my own health problems. She will be one very happy kitty soon!

We made an emergency visit to Abell with our dog Effa. Dr. Singh and Cheryl were amazing during a difficult situation. Both were compassionate, caring and took the time to explain everything.

Let me start this clear and simple. My cat, Chewy was misdiagnosed by Abell Hospital. They did not perform their due diligence as doctors in performing the correct tests in diagnosing my cat's condition.I was out of state on Christmas, my mom was watching Chewy and noticed that there was blood in his urine. She contacted Abell and they did a great job of accommodating her the very next morning to have a look at Chewy (the only thing that they were accommodating on) To preface this my mom's English is not great (first generation Ukrainian immigrants). They conducted the appointment with me on speaker and were accommodating in that manner as well (I guess). Essentially they took X-rays of Chewy and found that he had a considerable amount of bladder stones. They tried to perform a urinalysis but were unable too because his bladder was simply not full enough. They sent my mom home with a urine test kit. Now, upon talking to several vets that I visited after the fact... an at home test kit is HIGHLY inaccurate to test for the PH of what stones Chewy has. It's best to get a urinalysis done in house. The urine sample we brought in turned out to be not sufficient enough. They charged my mom for this analysis. I do believe they took advantage of the language barrier when they first charged her for the test in not explaining the accuracy in determining his condition. They also did not go through this with me while having me on the phone. That was just slipped onto the bill. I did have the office manager call me and offer to refund this test AFTER a bad review written by my boyfriend was written. AFTER.Dr. Singh called me the next day to go over Chewy's X-ray results. Based on his findings of the stones not looking rounded and a bit blurry in the images, his professional diagnosis that is was Oxalate stones and that they would have to be surgically removed. Because Abell does not perform these procedures he was quick to brush me off onto a specialist. His delivery was robotic and nothing short of lacking compassion.Once I got back home I made the decision to take Chewy to the emergency Vet the next morning (Medvet). PSA Medvet was fantastic and my bill for an emergency visit was half the cost of Abell. That included two analysis's that were performed as well as pain meds. End result was I could wait to see if diet would work or to be safe, get the surgery. Since their test results were more aligned with Struvite stones that can be diluted with a veterinary diet.I made the executive decision to take my cat across state borders to my new second home in upstate New York. There we went to a veterinary clinic that also performed common procedures such as cystotomy. Advice for anyone who has to get this surgery for their pet... try to get out of Chicago. It is half the cost everywhere else.Chewy is recovering as well as I could hope for... and I just received the lab results of the kind of stones Chewy had. They were Struvite stones. They could have been fixed with diet. I'm glad I got the surgery because he is out of the red, but it could have been avoided. So Dr. Singh, perhaps before you make a diagnosis, perform a urinalysis maybe some blood work and not snap some X-rays and go based off of blurry image results. I normally would never talk down to anyone, but the anxiety that this has caused, while out of state, and the amount of money it has cost me, it is my due diligence.Due to a previous negative review written I was contacted by the office manager. She was kind in wanting to refund a part of the bill, but at the end of the day it comes down to negative reviews and how they can hurt a small business. I had an extremely NEGATIVE experience here, I was hurt by how Chewy was treated, by how I was treated, alongside my mother. So Abell, I am sorry that my negative review may hurt you, but at the same time I have zero remorse in writing it. If it can help even one person in not coming here and getting the treatment my pet received I am happy to make several gmail accounts and do it over and over again.

I cannot say enough good things about the care and professionalism of Abell Animal Hospital. The care shown in their correspondence with me while preparing for Sunny's final sleep and arranging his cremation and paw prints has made a huge difference while I've been grieving his passing. Thank you!

The doctor that saw my cat Regis was awesome. I think Regis liked her to. The tech was great in keeping me informed of needed to be done and the cost. Regis liked her too. I definitely recommend Abell Animal Hospital as my pet's second best friend.

I won’t name the doctor but I experienced the worst treatment in the vet world. I asked why my pets seem sicker after going to the vet and doc said “then don’t go to the vet.”Ok, I won’t return to Abel but I will find a more professional and compassionate clinic.
