Best place to visit if you love Popeye like we do!!! They had probably every Popeye thing ever made! Great place to stop in and take a look around! The owners are super nice and willing to tell you about the items they have collected o er the years! Plenty of Popeye stuff to buy as well!!! This is a place we will never forget and we will come back cause my kids loved it! Free parking as well!

Wonderful shop in a fun town dedicated to the Popeye comic strip and its history, characters and creator. This shop has the full range of Popeye collectibles and a museum that is stock full and will leave you smiling. The lady we met that day managing the shop was very sweet and helpful. Nice experience!

We would have loved to gone inside but it was closed on Sunday. this was a pleasant surprise to see that Popeye had a home place in Illinois. Outside this cute store was a statue of Wimpy, murals painted on the side of the buildings, and cute little Popeye and Olive oyl cutouts for picture taking. We have to mention the memorials for our veterans. Nicely done

If you love the Popeye cartoon, or just cartoons in general, you have got to stop here. It's a store and a museum, with information posted on the inside store walls about the history of the cartoons creator. There are thousands of items that you can look at, or purchase. And it's located in the old opera house where the creator of Popeye once worked. The owners are very knowledgeable about all things Popeye, and they're great to talk to. So go to Chester Illinois, find all the Popeye statues in town, and definitely stop at the Spinach Can Collection store. Jn316

OMG... What a find! If you grew up watching Popeye like I did this is a must stop. Proprietors Mike & Debbie Brooks will rekindle old memories and introduce you to new tidbits possibly missed years ago... Did you know that Olive Oyl was actually the main character for many years AND engaged to one Harold Hamgravy before a charming sailor was introduced to the series that eventually won her heart along with those of the viewers. You see... You learn something every day!Check out the Popeye paraphernalia at Spinach Can Collectibles, get a T-shirt or two, then hit the streets of Chester, IL to track down the life size statues of the Popeye cartoon characters. Oh yeah, did I mention? Chester, IL is the hometown of Popeye... So, get off of your patooty, mosey on down to southern Illinois and check out all that is Popeye!!!

Chester Illinois is the home of Popeye and this store promotes him and all his friends in the best way! Great museum section and awesome sales area with good selection of themed items. And you can get a free map of locations of the statues all around town.

Fascinating stop with a very informative shop owner who knows her stuff about Popeye and crew. Excellent museum full of Popeye collectibles, plus many more, like Betty Boop and other characters as well. We enjoyed finding the statues all over town!

Interesting little shop with some nice Popeye memorabilia on display as well as for sale. They also have other collectables for sale.Very friendly lady / owner....and her dog too...lol

Wow. I loved the owner and her husband. Great place to stop in and have a look about. She has tons of great information about the statues, Popeyes creator, and the stories about each statue too. She was great. We bought some Popeye playing cards. Nice museum too. She has collected so many things. WOW. A must stop in place before hunting down all the statues.

Cool, one-of-a-kind shop! Even if you aren't a big Popeye fan it is worth stopping in to see all of their interesting and unique collectibles. The couple who own it are very fun to talk to.

My wife and I visited there with my brother and his family back in 2008, and it was perfect timing since the Popeye Festival was already in full swing that weekend. It was really cool seeing the collectible items there in the store, and we also met Denne Kornechuk (from Canada), a Popeye impersonator and he looked just like Popeye! Interesting fact: Denne was born in 1929, the very same year Popeye was created! Very nice guy, and we got to pose for a picture with him. We also saw a guy and a woman impersonating Bluto and Olive Oyl but they were not very good likenesses (I don't think anyone can out-Bluto the actor Paul Smith or beat Shelly Duvall as Olive Oyl in the Popeye movie). Go check out the store. Really neat!

We always stop in when traveling through Chester. Popeye and characters were created in Chester. Wonderful displays of collectable items and wide choice of items for sale. Owners are a pleasure to visit with.

Worth a stop if you're coming to the area. They have some old school Popeye toys that are made of tin! Authentic, vintage, toys! The gift shop is pretty cool, if you or your family/friends are fans on Popeye. They also have a map to locate the character trail of statues throughout Chester. Go see them all! They are well crafted and displayed beautifully!* It's important to mention that you will need a vehicle to visit the character trail. They are spread out among several miles. I don't even think I could ride my bicycle through the character trail. It would probably take me over 4 hours to ride my bike to see all the characters. Just make it easy on yourself and ride a vehicle!

Me being a popeye fan yhe store is wonderful and the owners are very nice and kind . The store opened up at noon i got there at 11 and she opened up the store an hour early. I love the store and the people. I highly recommend stopping.

They have all sorts of things to buy shirts, toy's, comic books. The woman that worked there was so knowledgeable and very kind. I would definitely suggest going in there.

Was interesting to see especially if you like roadside America attractions. Cool gifts and neat history originating from the town of Chester. Owners do a good job promoting the theme which the town has adopted.

A small town that is the birth place of Poppye's creator. Spinach Can collectable is a delightful store. Nostalgia abound with Popeye and his friends. The town has sculptures throughout the town.
