I’ve been going to this Ace for over ten years and will continue to do so. Always had very helpful employees assist me there and competitive pricesRecently I bought a hose in the fall. I opened it in the spring and realized it came defective. Went to return it without a receipt so they pulled up the purchase info from my card membership and found it, so i exchanged it for a new one. They were very helpful and understanding. Very nice local hardware store. Maybe not the full selection of the big box stores, but they really have almost everything you will need for most jobs. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the manager/owner is almost always on site. The few times I had to return something it was no hassle very easy.

I love this store! It is great not to have to drive out to the big box stores every time I need something around the house. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Just like the hardware store in my little town growing up.If you live in the neighborhood, please stop by and pick something up next time you are thinking of going out to lowes or one of the others. It's a great resource to have in the neighborhood.

Everyone of the employees were very helpful. They took the time to understand our needs and help us find the correct item. During the process they were very kind to any customer that came up, offering assistance without stopping to assist us. I think that is a very hard thing to do, and they executed perfectly. We will definitely make this are go to hardware store in the future as service like this is priceless.

Been shopping here for years. Employees have always been friendly. Store is clean and well organized. If you need screws and such, this is a much better place to go then Lowe's or Home Depot. Handy that the location also has the pet store and grocery store in the same lot.

I needed several car keys and remotes. It required a knowledgeable person to accomplish. Michael was very patient and professional! I also had the pleasure of working with another gentleman but I failed to get his name. He went out to the car a number of times to confirm that everything was working correctly. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful (Randy was great and so was the other guy with the beard and hat!), I always have a positive experience when I come in. Prices are a little higher, but it's definitely worth it especially if you don't know what you're looking for and need the extra assistance.

The Kirby Ave store is first rate.Employees friendly and helpful.The same was true about the Neil Str store until this morning at 11:30 am. I was there to purchase 14 bags of Ace Organic Topsoil and clearly indicated that to the employee.Apparently, Dane either did not understand my request or lacked knowledge of the material. I repeated my request and Dane, for reasons I do not know, became rude and surely. I lowered the state required mask briefly, to repeat my request. HUGE MISTAKE. Dane became quite aggressive toward me. I was standing at the state required 6ft distance. We agreed it would be best to have a different employee assist me.Scott was also having a bad day.Having explained the situation to him, Scott told me to leave the store and threatened to call the police🤪. So much for the'Helpful Hardware Store'

While they have odds and ends, employees never seem to be very helpful. I understand being busy, but to literally run away from me because someone says you're being slammed up front is not good customer service. I should have just left the items I had and took my business elsewhere.Another customer mentioned that "The Charleston ACE carries this.." and the employee responded, "well good for them."

Often gave us the wrong items for a plumbing job. Just wish they would say they didn't know rather than give the wrong item and have to keep coming back. There were a couple people that seemed very knowledgeable so that was good.

I'm glad to see a trio of Ace Hardware stores have cropped up in town. I realize they're a subsidiary of Niemann Foods, so they aren't exactly "small-town," but the smaller scale and more personal nature of the stores is a welcome respite from the gargantuan box stores. The Ace at Kirby has always been especially good. Many of there staffpeople have worked there for years and they're always helpful and friendly.

Great place of you need something quick but for better discounts and wider selection you may be better off driving across town to a larger store. Staff here is always very friendly

Have been shopping at this store since it opened and have made several large purchases and lots of small ones. I have been satisfied with the service till today.I went in to have them cut 2 transponder keys that I purchased online. I did not need them programmed, just cut. They wanted to charge $20.00 when they charge about $2.00 to buy and cut one of their keys. Cutting a transponder key is exactly the same procedure if they do not do the programming. The programming is very simple and anyone can do it in less than a minute.I WENT TO LOWE'S, HAD THEM CUT FOR 2.29 AND PROGRAMMED THEM IN THE LOT.Bottom line, while closer to me, I will not be giving any more business to a Merchant that overcharges there customers this much. I understand that smaller retailers have proportially larger expenses and are more expensive than the big box stores, but this much of an overcharge is ridiculous.

Went here to have a key cut. Rude employee said they weren't "allowed" to cut keys not purchased there. Sure is funny that Ace hardware in Champaign had no problem doing it for me. This place is worthless and they will never receive any of my business!

Was looking for half gallon canning jars. It said on their website they were available for pickup today. There were two employees in the store and no customers other than me. When I asked about the jars, they told me they are in the back and on a shelf and they were not for sale at this time. So why did it say available for pick up??? Guess those "kids" were just too busy to help me. No wonder they're all closing in this town!! They just don't want to sell any products I guess. One thing for sure, they've lost this customer.
