Do not order cupcakes from Hopscotch Bakery. My cupcakes for a birthday party were burned (see photo). They had too much salt which was located/pooled at the bottom of the cupcakes. The cupcakes should have tasted much better given their appearance. They were pleasing to the eyes; however, not to the taste & it was disappointing. In other words, they tasted nasty! The cake itself was dense; similar to corn muffins, & were not light & fluffy like cake. The cake tasted like corn muffins & most of the kids at our party would not eat them - at all. Comments such as, "I don't like these," was common & I agree. If I made cupcakes this way at home, I would have thrown them all away & started over. The frosting was thick & there was far too much of it on such a small cake. The cost was roughly $3.00 per cupcake & most of them were waisted. Customer service is problematic as well to me. They do not answer the phone & only want customers to text them for bakery questions. They give short answers via text & send mostly automated responses. They just are not very helpful with your order. No options to tailor your order to your personal specifications which frustrated me. No allergy options. In person, they were just as impersonal. I do not recommend this bakery. I really like shopping & purchasing orders from local companies, but I will not order again with this bakery.

I’m surprised by the ratings honestly. Based on my experience this bakery is 5star. The coffee is delicious, even the decaf espresso! I had the Spinach, Feta +Za'atar Scroll and it was pretty amazing. The pastry dough flavor and texture really shines with these flavors. And they always have vegan and GF options. I’ll definitely come back.

Don't waste your money on Hopescotch cakes! I got an 8inch vanilla cake with matcha buttercream icing from Hopscotch. The cake looked great but it was THE worst experience in terms of flavor and texture. the cake sponge was clearly stale, very dense, and smelled really bad. The icing on the top was also so stiff that it fell apart when cutting the cake. I specifically asked the lady at the cashier that I want a fresh cake and this was far from being fresh. I didn’t expect Hopscotch to sell this quality of cake. I felt really embarrassed in the party seeing everyone finding their way to the trash can to get rid of their slice. I have contacted the store and nobody responded, next step is to take the leftover cake to the store and ask the owner to try it out!Update: I stopped by the store and explained the problem; the manager was very rude and said she choose to refuse a refund because of my review! Customer service on par with cake quality! Interesting fact, when I was there to complain, the other two cakes from yesterday were still there waiting for the next poor customer. My party was ruined and I’m not getting a refund but I hope at least this review helps the next person.

Very tucked away, but special place. I came here with a friend to have macaroons, tea, breakfast sandwich, and tomato soup. I felt like every other sentence I said while eating my breakfast sandwich is "this is so good". Very flavorful. Very cute place with some cute gifts throughout the store. A bit on the pricey side for a cafe, but I knew that going into it. Nice vibe on the inside, too. Overall lovely experience!

Very cute place. I got the coconut Thai tea. It was delicious and sweet. Just what I needed on a hot summer day. I walked in and I loved the atmosphere. They have flowers everywhere and it makes it seem lively. Staff was friendly. They have reusable straws and cups. I was pleased to see that.

Bought a birthday cake because of the high reviews end up sad disappointed. Above average price for under average cake you could find around. It says chiffon cake but it is more like a oily dry cornbread with oil flavor. The icing tasted and textured like soild palm oil with some suger and food coloring. I am fine with sugarless but only flavor form the whole cake is soildfied oil and lemon from the yellow paste layer in the center. Wish there would be at least some sense of milky or buttery in it to make it edible. Hope there is a place I can submit a piece of the cake right now as evidence of what I have experienced.

I love the pastries and many of the deserts and coffees at the John Street location. Some very nice rosés and wines and small plates at the downtown location. John st. Is a charming corner store boutique-like bakery with some unique gift items. I did however, order a birthday cake for my husband a week ago.. a $65 cake with added cost "exotic fruits and macarons" which I thought were going to include maybe star fruit slices and something unique on top. It was an absolutely beautiful cake but with common berries. I guess exotic fruit means a thin mango puree layer inside. the cake was so dense and dry and flavorless. Like very firm old pound cake. I was frankly embarrassed. Embarrassed that I spent so much on a cake and that my husband was not impressed. We ate a few bites of exactly two pieces out of this rather large cake. I feel guilty throwing it out.He knew the value of the cake because he and I are regular customers at both locations and enjoy other bakery items. I mentioned through Instagram messenger to Hopscotch about my thoughts. Someone read my comment with no response. I would respond through my business messenger. I also appreciate from my clients, their feedback, very much. No reply. At all.It very much matters to me, how things taste, and not just how they look. So back to the positive. The quiche - is fantastic!

I liked this place. It has a cozy atmosphere, and great items to choose from. The bakery is located in a residential area, so there isn't a lot of road noise. I was told the selection changes daily, with some staple items (like huge chocolate chip cookies). I had a coconut macaroon, which was delicious. I also tried a sweet potato garam masala scone, which was interesting and good. I plan to go back with my family.

My husband got a cake for me here and it was not only beautifully decorated it was so delicious! The cake part was moist and full of pumpkin flavor and the frosting was buttery and smooth. Most cakes, like from Costco or grocery stores, are so sweet that it makes me face tense up, and my eyeballs hurt. This cake does not do that. Feeds 8? If you want to share..

Always a really fun stop, whether you're a regular, or visiting for the first time.The plain drip coffee is great, and a lot of the bakery items are fantastic.Highly suggest the cinnamon rolls, fruit bars, and cakes.Lots of local makers, flowers, and products.

I paid $50 for a 6 inch birthday cake and no one ate it because it was so nasty. The frosting tastes freezer burnt and the cake itself was the texture of cornbread. This is the second time this happened. I assumed the first time was a fluke, so I tried again for next years cake, since it was so pretty on the outside. I definitely won’t be buying another one from here.

Ordered a wide variety of pastries, and all were dry. Some didn't hold together long enough to be eaten. The frosting had no flavor, it just tasted like straight up butter. I hope whoever buys the business knows how to bake. Everything looked like it was going to be delicious, though.

Hopscotch Bakery has a charming atmosphere. I wanted to like the bakery items I tried but I was disappointed. The carrot cake was bland and a bit dry. Other items were too sugary.

We ordered a cake from orland park bakery in Chicago,had a bad experience from the minute we walk in to pick up the cake,To make a long story short the cake that we spent 271.00 dollars on did not make it!Hopscotch bakery, saved the day and put together a cake in less then 30 minutes this was the cake that did not make itTHANK YALL SO SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP🙂🙃😉

I’m really sad that this happened because I loved going there but I bought a 6 inch cake for my daughter’s birthday and left two messages asking for the writing to be done in print not cursive since she’s 7. No one ever returned the messages. The cake came in cursive which… ok not a huge deal. But then the cake itself was inedible. It had a thick weird crumbly texture that was very dry and odd. Everyone at her party took one bite and all said what is wrong with this cake. We ended up throwing it all away. Afterward I emailed them and left another message to let them know what had happened and again no one reached out. It was a lot of money spent on something that was inedible

I would give this bakery zero stars if I could. I am a small business owner and rarely write reviews that are negative. I am one of those people that intentionally support small shops and drop $$$$ if the quality and service is positive, so I was excited to try this bakery out. But the service in this store was so terrible and unethical that I have to write this review. The two girls working the register were cold and got the order wrong and overcharged on the baked goods. Not only did they overcharge, but after it was pointed out instead of correcting it they recharged it again. Did you think I would not notice? Work on your manners and service. It’s a small town and it’s not funny to laugh at a honest customer that points out a mistake.

Cutest little bakery in Champaign Urbana! Tasty treats, great coffee, super cool gifts. Everything in the dang store is so pretty! I wish I could have stayed all afternoon. And bonus, they were super nice to my little kids (who made a bit of a mess). We'll be back!
