I've always been a loyal customer, spending like 10k each year in Costco. Most of the employees there are very friendly and helpful. However, a short-haired Karen just yelled at us today, saying some membership stuff and not letting us use self-checkout two orders. I know it’s a new policy, and they try to enforce it back. But there is no reason that Karen needs to yell at us. I can’t believe I spent 120 dollars on membership each year just being yelled at. I also had bad experiences with this Karen before, she wasn’t happy with the basic requests. I understand if you have a bad day or something, but it’s not a single incident. Really disappointed. Ruined the whole experience. However, most workers there are very nice. Just not that Karen.

Like any other Costco this branch is good. We shop regularly here. They rotate products on a regular basis. So it’s hard to keep shopping for one item that we like. You like one thing and next time they no loner carry it. Other that that it’s great.

I love Costco, amazing place. Workers are kind and it’s great. However this Costco in Champaign I’ve been to the service desk to return things many times, there is a woman with short grey hair who is always rude, and she has zero sense of urgency, as if the customer is always an inconvenience to her. Everyone else has been kind, but always a rough experience at the return service desk, I try to avoid.

The only thing I don’t like about this place is that recently they’re carding members at the entrance and at all registers. Maybe cracking down on non account holders? Idk. Everything else, including the rotisseries, is fine.

There was a heavy set woman at the register who was very unpleasant to the customer in front of me. The customer had a positive attitude, and handled it kinder than I would have. Though the cashier was nice to me, she wasted my time in the process of drawing out the transaction for the person in front of me. I was only a guest, but the incident made me decide against a membership. It would be foolish to think it wouldn't happen to me at some point if the staff feels this emboldened to act like this.

I love the store. That said I will never order large items from them again that need to be delivered to my home. I purchased a refrigerator (I love it). However, they use a 3rd party that left large ruts down the entire side of my yard. Rather than Costco dealing with the issue they made me go through the 3rd party. They wanted to give me a $30.00 gift card for the damage they caused. So never ever again will I order anything large from them to be delivered.

My family went to this Costco and some of employees are rude. We purchased stuffs separately because we wanted to use two cards. They did not let us use one Costco membership card. We had to use two DIFFERENT memberships to buy two times. They glanced at us also when I couldn’t find my membership card in my purse, so I asked them if I could use my husband’s again. They said it’s hard to keep track for the return. That’s ridiculous!!! 😂

Always friendly and easy to navigate. I feel like the rooster chickens at this location are always a bit undercooked whereas the cinnamon rolls are always a bit too brown.I’m bummed they’ve reduced the cheese selection lately too, they moved it to a smaller space and there is less variety—bring back the aged havsrti!

Costco Champaign is boring and not great compared to other states with Costco. Variety of selection is bland, inconsistent and eh…. I expect them to maintain their standards throughout nation equally. Will I continue going there, sure until the next best thing. Definitely not Walmart Sam’s 😂

Costco has made an impact on my life in so many ways. I don't know what my childhood would've been like without it. My family life couldn't have gone as well without the rotisserie chicken. I can't imagine not having a Costco cake for every occasion. Some days, I would just be there for the samples. Costco is more than just a store, Costco is a feeling. The feeling you get when your chicken bake is ready. They say home is where the Costco is.

After 2 happy years of membership, the Champaign location decided that my wife was no longer able to make purchases with my membership card. She has gone solo dozens of times without any hassle. I don’t know if a rule changed or if they only enforce unspoken rules 3% of the time. I definitely would have addressed this if it had been an issue before. I’m not sure I recommend the executive membership. The treatment doesn’t live up to “executive” expectations.

Costco *does* sell to non-members on their website. They charge an extra 5%. Please teach this to your employees. It took an hour just to pick up my tires (pick up, not install), which mostly included waiting for another employee or manager to come (& another, & another) and have me explain the situation again. Each one I talked to was surprised that it was possible for me to purchase without a membership. All I wanted were my tires that I already paid for.

Costco rocks. I'm so happy Champaign has a Costco finally. Excellent products. I've never purchased a product from Costco I wasn't happy with. Clothing is very good and very affordable. The food is unique and a great value. We're big fans!

Have been pleased with all Costco purchases, and customer service. My biggest complaint is that there is no general directive or signage--when asked about this, I was told "Costco wants it to be like a scavenger hunt." I don't always have time for a scavenger hunt!

All kind staff except one person. The receipt checker wearing a skull shirt button down, was really freaking rude and judgmental about the amount of stuff we had. That behavior is very unprofessional and action should be taken. That was not ok. He was making really rude comments on the amount of stuff we had. What a shame. I never want to go there again. I’d give a lesser rating if I could. I hope he gets fired.

There’s a lot of things I really like about Costco. However, the service of the tire department is so slow that it drove me to go renew my old Sams membership. The last time I had my tires rotated I had scheduled an appt and it still took them and hour and 20 minutes to look at my car and provide a reason why they couldn’t rotate them that day. It was a helpful reason but beyond me why it took so long to just get my scheduled car in the door. Generally I find the tire team friendly and helpful so I assume they are coached to systemically slow down rotations. From my experience it usually takes them 1.5-2 hrs which is ridiculous when you schedule an appt and it’s short job. All in all, I will still shop some at Costco but they just lost part of my business due to the painfully slow tire service.As an aside, I’ve also learned that Sams has a larger variety of name brand tires at substantially better price points.

This is a wholesale club, so there is a membership fee. Great prices on a lot of high quality products. Usually have a great stock and selection. The Kirkland brand is at or above any top name product. Beware that some things you really like might get canceled, or only stocked at other locations. Meat, vegetable, fruit, fish, dairy all high quality and in good supply. Great price on gas, wish they carried diesel. They treat their employees well, and it shows. Fun shopping experience.

Finally we have a costco in Champaign. This is not as big as the ones that are located in Chicago area but worth going. We became a member since 2016 and had to drive all the way to either Indianapolis or Chicago before this local costco opened. It definitely saves us so much time if we want some regulars. However I take one star off because imo they should better trained their employees. Obviously they were not familiar with costco and are new to their job. We had bad experience in the customer service center. I was waiting for over 20 min with my two little kids(1yr old and 3 yr old) when there were less than 3 customer in front of me in a none-busy time. The employee had no idea what they should do and how to do typical things like how to process a return from online/other costco purchases.

You're better off at Sam's. Particularly when it comes to the liquor department. If getting lied to repeatedly by employees when it comes to stock in your idea of good customer service, then this store is for you. First it was all of the Weller 12 "broken in shipment". And now it was "Those were all stolen and we don't have them" with the Sam Adams Utopias. Saw a picture online of one on the shelf today you liars. These people ought to run for public office. The lack of integrity would make them ideal politicians.

I usually stop at this Costco if I’m heading to centra Illinois. It’s decently convenient off the freeway but I wouldn’t stop just to get gas on a trip. It’s usually pretty busy and that’s the only downside.

I wanted to compare the prices to Sam's club. For the most part items that we regularly get, were a penny lower or higher. So we are going to stay with Sam's club. Other items much higher
