Great weekend getaway. The trail is not scary and manageable for beginners. Crossing the creek was exciting. We went at the end of March so it was a bit chilly.

My college aged daughter and I came on a Monday after hiking in starved rock, we stayed in the Teepee. It was so much fun. We made a fire and s’mores enjoyed our glass of wine and bonded. The teepee was awestruck me. The two futon couches convert to a full bed and square twinish. Paul the ranch owner/manager was so accommodating. The next day we helped wrangle our horses for a trail ride with Abby. She was an excellent guide. We will definitively come back with a larger party and experiment the tent and chuckwagon. Thank you for making fall break a blast.

Worth the time and money spent.Friendly and helpful staff.Quality horseback rides.My parents and I wanted to ride horses. This place was recommended, so I called to book a trail ride on a Saturday. By the time we were done and on our way home, my family and I were buzzing about how much fun we had.If you’re planning to visit Starved Rock or Matthiessen State Park, add Cedar Creek Ranch to your schedule. You’ll be glad you did!

We went on their gator cruise and horseback riding and they were super fun!! The owner and staff were very nice and knowledgeable about their land and horses. Highly recommended!

I’ve been here a few times now and it’s always been very enjoyable. Fun for the whole family. No experience needed. The tour is guided and you'll walk along a trail in the woods and wade through a few areas of water. It's a peaceful and scenic ride. We also tipped one of the staff to use our camera and take a few photos along the way. They did a great job. Well worth the money

I've been on horses before and my boyfriend hasn't. We took a mini vacation to Starved Rock and this is about one of the only things open due to the weather and Covid. It was a great experience for both of us! The creek was frozen so we couldn't walk through with the horses so we got a voucher for next time! Everyone was very friendly!

My husband & I came here to the petting zoo with our kids & it was an amazing experience. The owners are very kind & made us feel welcomed. My kids enjoyed feeding the animals. We will definitely visit again. Thank you! 🙂

My wife surprised me with a trip this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We honeymooned in Ireland and did a horseback tour there, so she is trying to make it a tradition. The property was beautiful and the tour itself didn't feel like it was over too soon. My opinion is It is a great ride for most any age, and while you aren't riding at a full canter, it is nice to have some variety with hills and riding through water. The price is reasonable and the staff is very cordial. I would recommend it to anyone.

Really enjoyed it. Took my son on trail ride and my younger boy got kids ride. $45 for trail $20 for kids. Both boys enjoyed it. They also got to feed goats etc for $5. It's old school but staff etc very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back and would recommend anyone looking a fun afternoon

Looking for a phenomenal time? This place is the real deal! From the welcoming staff, petting zoo, volleyball, fishing, then to hop on a horse.. what more can you ask for? I’ve been to many places and taken a “Trail Ride” thats not what this is! Down hill, up hill, across the valleys, through the creeks. The views are simply breathtaking! Then to see the the horses run wild in the valley… I have no words. SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE .. I can’t wait to go back!

My sister, and I spent a day at Cedar Ranch and went Horse Back riding. I have been to many horse back riding trails over the years, up to including riding on a private beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C. last year. My experience at Cedar Creek Ranch by far was my best experience ever. We also had lunch and the burger was outstanding. We were even given instructions on how to ride our horses which made my ride more enjoyable. I will now make sure my toes and ball of my feet remain in the stir-ups in a "V" position. Thanks to the tour folks that even went as far as taking our photos with our cell phone cameras. You guys run an incredible ranch and it was a privilege to have this experience at Cedar Creek Ranch. I will definitely come back next year.

Omg. It was just fun. I was on Big Jack and he was a "good boy". The guides will be around to make sure no one is derailing. They'll also take pictures for you and we got some decent collage of them. The horses are healthy and you get to treat them after the ride.

We had reservations for 12:30 very prompt with signing in went over by the horses and had a safety meeting about riding the horses. The trail was well maintained all the horses did a great job on the trail. Guides Abby and Ashley were very friendly and informative about the horses and the area. After the ride we had lunch and it was amazing! We definitely will be back! Thank you for the great day!!

Went on a horseback ride here & it was awesome! Our guide, Paul was great! He explained everything we needed to know very simply, clearly & had a good personality. On our ride he made sure everyone was safe & knew all the horses very well & what they would do. He helped guide the rider to steer the horse. Very well trained and nice horses! The ride was awesome. Learned some history along the way & went through a couple creeks, down & up some hills. Nothing too treacherous but perfect for a wonderful experience. Had a great time!!

My 9 year old daughter and I had a wonderful horseback trail riding experience here! Everyone was kind and informative - we felt safe and well prepared on our horses. During the actual ride, there was a gorgeous meadow. We rode through a creek, and into the forest. Would definitely do it again!

We found ourselves with a blown truck motor with a load of horses. Paul was kind enough to put us up for the night. A place to part campers and a barn for our horses. Thank you for your generosity.

This was my first time at the Ranch. We went on an awesome horse ride throughout the property. Cassidy and Abby were our guides and they did such a great job showing us how to ride properly and guide us on our tour. The horses were very well behaved and so easy and enjoyable to ride! Best horse ride I've ever had! We had lunch at the restaurant on site. It was a very good lunch! There was something on the menu for everyone! Our server was Pam and she did such a great job of keeping the drinks and food flowing. The guys in our group watched the Bears game at the restaurant while we girls rode the horses. Such a beautiful area and they take really good care of their horses. I will be coming back again for sure! Whenever we travel with my sister in law, I would always beg to take a horseback ride. And she would always say "let's wait til we get home - I know a GREAT place to ride horses". Let me tell you, she was right!! Cedar Creek Ranch is THE place to ride horses and so much more!!

Amazing place! All the animals are well groomed and happy! Felt super safe and comfortable with the guides. The trail is a nice distance with plenty of verity to keep it interesting. My only complaint would be the photos that the guild took didn’t turn out as nice as I would have liked. Some of them cut off our faces and I could tell he wasn’t really focused when taking them. I did get a couple good ones tho! Just would have liked 2 more. Anyway thank you for a great experience!

We spent our 14 year anniversary riding horses! It was an amazing expierence! The petting zoo was a plus. Donkeys, roosters, yacks, goats, sheep, we got to feed them! Beautiful scenery! Wonderful horses. Worth every penny, will be back for more fun!

My sister and I visited May 10th. Our guide was T-Bone and he was great. We weren't able to do the entire trail, due to flooding. The manager let us know that up from and discounted us $5 each rider and gave us a coupon to come back. The part of the trail that we saw was really nice. It was really slow, and we got to ride alone. They accommodated us even though we didn't call to make a reservation. They were so nice. Maria took pictures for us and sent them, because I left my phone in the car. I can't wait to go back - I plan to return when the waters dry up and the weather gets nice. Such a beautiful day and a great experience.

So the horse trail was decent I just thought when they said tour ride the person would talk to us but it was quiet the entire time made it awkward to just be there I really felt like I may have been annoying the tourist with questions... some of the horses also looked very malnourished.... and maybe because they were old I'm not a horse expert. But our horses constantly stopped to get food along the trail and we were told not to worry because they fed them a whole bucket before.The toir guide was very sweet though both girls-But the kitchen got me to have a bad experience I ordered a chicken sandwich and I know 100 percent it was still raw. When I ate it it was so chewy. The waitress reassured me her husband and her both ate it and said it was not. I apologized because I know I'm the last one to complain about food. But what got me upset was a member from the kitchen staff walked out and sat down and starred my husband and I down like we were the problem. He then began to mumble words under his voice to his friend and continued to give my husband a dirty look. I forced myself to eat the hamburger that they gave me instead so I wouldn't offend the lady. The waitress was sweet but i threw everything up when i got home. I don't think my family will ever recommend this place to anybody.

Took my adult (Autistic) 24 year old son to an event that IVCIL offered; horseback riding at Cedar Creek Ranch. He had a fantastic time!The owners and staff were very nice and extremely patient with our small, special needs group.The group started by feeding small farm animals, which they all enjoyed; had their turn on a horse - wearing a supplied helmet for safety - led slowly around a large, partially fenced in outside arena.Beautiful piece of property.Would be nice to go back as a family.
