Well, I'll just say if they tell you your room is on the back side of the motel, keep going.l! its like bates motel. No joke our room should have not been rented out the comforter was ripped there was burn marks in the carpet and if the room was clean there was no way to tell it was so dark in there even with the light on .they was lucky to be the only motel in that town. I will never stay there again .

The couple that runs the place were very nice. We had a big group of us on a trip. They gave us our own space as to not bother anyone else and have our privacy. Place was a bit outdated but added to the nostalgia. We got free refreshments and cookies on arrival. Would highly recommend staying here in this cute little middle American city!

Clean, neat, complete with microwave and mini fridge. Staff is very friendly, cleaned my room daily even though they didn't have to. Reasonable price for what you get. Its an older place, as long as you're ok with that, you'll be fine.

Roomy, very clean rooms. Great coffee and muffins in the morning. Extremely friendly staff. We called a few hours before we arrived. The owner turned on our air conditioning for us so it would be nice and cool after a hot day on the road. Phenomenal prices. We were given adjoining rooms with refrigerators and microwaves as well. I highly recommend this awesome stop on historic Route 66!

My daughter and I and her boyfriend stayed there for 5 and a half weeks. They charged us $350.00 a week. They got mad when we used their towels to clean the bathroom floor which was disgusting, and tried to charge us a 50$ towel fee. They were rude every time we had contact with them. We were literally homeless. My daughter and I had an argument and they put a no trespass on me and said it stemmed from an incident from 2 years before that had to do with completely different people, who they said was my ex. But it wasn't I actually know the family whom it really concerned. I wouldn't recommend this place for anything. Even the soda machine stayed out of soda. It was pretty low end. No pool either.

Stayed in room 255, February 24, 2021. Worst experience of my life. Filthy room, asked for room with king size bed, was a full sized bed. Hot water took 10 minutes. Tub, walls etc in room filthy. Lamp shades had enough dust on them to plant corn in. Will NEVER stay there again!!! Disgusting!! No coffee either anytime. Definitely not worth even one star, but we did survive!!! Never again!!!!

The Carlin Villa Motel holds a lot of great childhood memories for me. The place is kept up well, but you can tell it is a struggle, since it isn't on the main path. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Outside of free WiFi, you're not getting many frills. That said, there is a microwave and a fridge in the room, which I've discovered doesn't happen at many hotels anymore. And, the fridge isn't a tiny one, more like a dorm room fridge, so you can fit a 12 pack of soda and a few sandwiches in it. Sadly, the pool is closed because Illinois passed a stupid law about using propane or gas to heat a pool rather than solar panels and an inspector wouldn't allow an exception. If you have a chance to stay here, do it. You'll save a few bucks and have a nice experience. The rooms are large, the beds are comfortable. The three rooms I've been in this weekend all have working TVs, a rocking chair, desk and large comfy chair. Yeah, the bathroom is small and the place needs a paint job, but the charm is worth it.

The hotel is in horrible shape, the trim on the door was falling apart as I closed the door behind me. The rooms are small and the beds are uncomfortable. Not to mention the fact that the bed frames are pallets. The management forced me to leave my room for two hours so they could clean it even though I didn't request it. I took anything worth stealing and moved it into my vehicle (which you should always do, regardless of the hotel) because it seemed very sketchy that they would tell me to leave the hotel for TWO HOURS so that they could clean a room the size of most people's bathrooms.

Stayed here during a trip down Rt. 66. It is a basic motel, but very clean & comfortable. The owners are very nice and accommodating. It was like a flash from the past which is just what we were looking for on our trip. I forgot a pair of earrings in our room. The owners found them and graciously sent them to me -- at their expense, wrapped in bubble wrap, in a bubble wrap envelope. Now that's awesome customer service! If you don't need the frills, I highly recommend the CarlinVilla Motel!

Decent rooms and prices. Not the most modern looking motel - sort of a 70's vibe actually 😂, but the staff is very kind and courteous and the rooms are nice. Some rooms are accessible from the parking lot, some are accessible from the inside. They also have a common area if that's your thing. Overall VERY pleased with our stay!!

I stayed at the Carlinvilla for 4 nights this past week. My son's wedding was happening across the field from the hotel. Not only was it convenient, they were lovely hosts. They couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. My room was clean and ready. Much of my family and many attendees of the wedding stayed there too and had compliments for the owners.I would highly recommend staying there if you are passing through.We say thank you!!

Average marks for a low cost hotel. A little run down, but clean. Continental breakfast was very sparse, and I'm an early riser. Slept there for a night with the kids and split in the morning. Staff was nice.

Don't be fooled by the facade the website gives. Happy to stay at budget motels with expectations to match. This place was not priced accordingly. The bathroom door had a huge hole at the bottom of it, from a dog trying to get out. I am a Engineering Supervisor for a hotel. When we have problems like this we put the rooms out of order until repaired. The room I was given should be condemned.

Best little Sweep-You-Back-In-Time-Motel! Oh goodness what an absolutely charming place. CLEAN. SMALL ROOMS. MODEST. ADORABLE. VINTAGE 60S-70S-80S-90S decor. Fireplace in the main room. Nicest owners. Low price. REAL ACTUAL ROOM KEYS. I'll stay there every year from here on out when we set up for the Carlinville Winter Market.Go see these nice people. Go. For those of us who relish the experience of staying in a well kept vintage motor court, the Carlinvilla is about as good as it gets. it is mpeccably clean and tidy inside and out. This is the only motor court I've ever visited that has a lobby that I actually would not mind spending some time in It is very quiet and serene here. No noise from the neighbors and the in-room heat (presumably hot water type but totally concealed) is silent. This is my third time staying here and I would highly recommend it to anyone who desires the genuine Route 66 experience.

Carlinvilla is an older motel, but the owners keep it clean and well maintained. Very convenient to all points in Carlinville. I've stayed here for 1-2 weeks every year for about 10 years on business. I wish all the older (less expensive ) motels were as nice as this one!

Ok... Good things to say... Staff is nice...ummm...Staff is nice... So starting off, grabbed up remote and almost barfed. 😝 Turned on the heater-a/c and the smell was bad. Unit has NOT BEEN CLEANED IN 5 YRS.😧 Over all this place could be nice but I'm afraid you get what you pay for here. Hey, no bugs tho. So there's that. 😓🤞🚫🤢😱

Small town motel. Reasonable rates. I've stayed here several times now and like it. Microwave and mini fridge/freezer in room. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast is minimal, but I don't mind.
