Fair prices. Union chain grocery store. Deli selection is pretty decent for the area. Okay selection of organic produce, but it's pricey. Sushi bar. Starbucks. Increased automation of the labor process, which usually means you are going to do free labor for the store by checking out yourself because they are only paying one cashier to handle the lanes.

The Deli is pretty slow. Gotta wait like 15 minutes for your ham, so u walk around till it’s ready. Also the deli meat cooler is pretty much only turkey and brown sugar ham.

Order a cake 3 days before I needed it . I needed it ready honestly around 9 am however that was apparently impossible for them so we agreed to 10:30 am . They had me waiting g around 11:11 before the cake was actually "ready" It was horrible and the lady on the phone was extremely rude cut me off talking multiple times saying " well do you want the cake or not" when I was trying to discuss why the cake wasn't ready when we agreed to a set time . The quality of the cake was horrible. Icing wasn't flat it was messed up in many places and it was lopsided. Picture want i wanted verse what I got .

I have noticed meats sitting out well under temp. We don't buy meats from kroger for that reason. We come here for dry goods. Also their app never works in their stores.... so getting the advertised price is always a hassle.

When ordering online for pick up, certain common items are not available for pick. Like milk or pop. They are only available for delivery. Really, how is this right. If the product is in the store, then it should be available for all modes of shopping. Done with Kroger.

Kroger should close it's doors. Don't carry things people want. Went in yesterday to get donuts, they decided not to make them that day. Unbelievable!! I live in Florida and Publix is a fantastic grocery store,has everything, they even make subs to order and donuts the have plenty. I know this!! Kroger does not care about their customer base. Stay out of Florida! you should be ashamed!!!

I will not shop here any longer the store manager Nolan I believe is his name is very rude I watched an interaction he had with one of the coworkers and he belittled them and it was so embarrassing 😳 🤦. I hope the employee complained to corporate about this matter!

While shopping in person is fine, the online order and delivery service is dreadful. They attempted to refund 8 of my 12 items and when I said that please just try to substitute whatever you can, they still excluded 5 of the items and gave me 5 apples to substitute for 1 avocado. If you need online order and delivery, use Walmart, their online orders are leagues better and will actually give you your order.

Tried to make a quick run to get a bag of dog food for my hungry doggies, walked up to store & employees standing outside of door stated that store was closed. Mind you that I parked my car at 9:42pm when I returned to my car I confirmed time was 9:44pm. So this store doesn't abide by there posted hours & closed early. Not happy and may not return!!!

This place is great if you love rotten produce and terrible working conditions. Their produce cooler has been a temperature reading of 82 degrees to where their strawberries all got moldy. Their corn smells of vinegar from fermentation. Oh not to mention, most things are never in stock. If you’re a worker, you will be treated next to nothing. The store manager will berate employees as well as mock them. She will laugh at you and gaslight you if you try to speak up about her behavior. I’m not a worker, but am friends with several workers. I would recommend literally any other place than this Kroger.

Most of the items here seem to be priced higher than other stores in the area. Also a lot of food seems to be out of stock. Particularly the plant based options.

This review is for the store only, not the pharmacy. The pharmacy here is AWFUL. Complete pharmacy review is on the pharmacy page.On to the store:Pros: Comparatively clean (this is Carbondale after all). Higher quality store brands. Most store staff (outside the pharmacy, bakery and gas station) try hard even though the management very obviously doesn't.Cons: Prices can be higher than other stores in town. VERY limited, poor quality bakery with little made on site and nasty employees. Produce section has narrow aisles, a funky layout and is difficult to maneuver. Many produce items are seemingly perpetually out of stock.Big annoyances: If you need a manager for any reason you will not have a pleasant experience. Aisles generally are often blocked by employees, people talking on their phones, displays, etc. Few if any cashiers working at the times I shop, but beware: Most of the self checkouts don't work properly.Update: I switched to curbside pickup for health/mobility issues. (The store like almost everything in the area is not disability friendly and I've been frequently hassled in store by customer and employee alike, although not as bad as WalMart.) Also if ordering multiples of an item they have a nasty habit of only including one, ESPECIALLY if it's a special price for multiple items or a BOGO. Anything to skin the customer seems to be Management's motto! However, the curbside employees I've actually been in contact with are fast, efficient and friendly.Re: substitutions for products that aren't available. Be sure to make detailed notes and designate acceptable alternative products ahead of time or you will end up with stuff that's really bizarre and random.***Just to drive it home if you've read this far: This is the store only. From my experience that this store happens to be one of the nicest Krogers in Southern Illinois they have far more items to choose from and the staff seems incredibly friendly I have witnessed a couple things but I'm pretty for sure that might have been resolved of an employee not being so nice to a customer that was part of the LGBTQ but that's the only negative thing I've seen and that was just by one employee Other than that I come to the store quite frequently because of always had a nice experience and there's some things you can find here that you cannot find in any store in Carbondale . Another thing is that the store is always so busy that it's always hard to find parking that hasn't mean it's good people are always shopping there and sometimes you find a great deal on canned goods and meat sometimes you might find something that you never had that you like and you only can get it at that Kroger

Slow customer service. No help in customer service. You are to be expected to wait 30 mins for service. As the line got longer no help was called. When asked if help was available, the employee said no sorry. I will not be back

I try to go when they aren't busy and I find the experience easy. The staff is really friendly and try their best to help out. They have accepted my item request several times and it wasn't too long before the shelves were stocked with what I wanted! I hope Kroger moves towards whole foods and vegan options in the future!

I really like the remodel, Starbucks, and specialty food areas (cheese & olives). It never fails though that SOMETHING ALWAYS RINGS UP AT THE WRONG PRICE!! This has been ongoing for a few years on nearly every shopping trip. This Kroger has definitely gotten a reputation for pricing errors. WATCH YOUR RECEIPTS! Today I was peeved because they are remodeling and the public restrooms are out. In the back of the store there are restrooms but i was told by the self check clerk that those were 'out of order' and had signs on the door. I was told that we had to go out to their gas station restroom. 2 other employees told me that the bathrooms weren't really out of order & work just fine. Not sure why they didn't want their customers using the washroom, but we left and went to the grocery store up the road to shop. The employees are usually very nice but today the attitudes and scowls on the employees faces was a downer. Maybe the entire store was told that they are getting pay cuts?? Lol.

The store has been mostly good after the renovations. Olive bar is decent. I hate waiting for the self check employee to check my ID, or what have you. They can be a little slow, especially at night. Same for the olive bar employees. Had to wait for lids, and then when I asked for one the ladies acted like their world was caving in on them. I was one of two customers, and the olive bar is self-service. Calm down ladies, and pay a little bit closer attention to detail.

My favorite Kroger around to shop at, large array of items you won't find at the smaller kroger stores and they have a full deli, sushi station, cheese station and a Starbucks. My only problem with this Kroger is the lack of cashiers and baggers. When I go and I have a full cart I'm not going to use the self checkout because that would take forever plus it's meant for people with only a few items not a whole cart full. So when I go to the find an open cashier lane , typically there's maybe 2 and the line is pretty long, and I swear it almost never fails that when I go to checkout there's no bagger. So the cashier is having to do double the work and then I have bag alot of it as well.

Ordered a marble cake for my daughter's highschool graduation 1 week in advance intold them i wanted graduation theme and red and yellowI was told it would be ready at 10am Sunday the 29thAt 10:24 they called to say they didn't have marble seriously 24 minutes after the fact of picking it up you don't have marble.Then I have to ask how much longer, I was told 30 minutes so inlick the cake up. Itd not the right color, the graduation theme was pathetic, then the cashier can't greet me or say that you. I won't be back

I love the selection at my local Kroger store! So many gluten free/dairy free options, and the prices are much more reasonable than my local grocery store is! It's always clean and the staff from the stock persons, to the persons working the check out counter, they always make me feel welcome!
