Cairo, IL is a sketchy little town, making the exterior steps to the second floor without lighting even more concerning. Aside from safety of not being able to see the black painted steps at night, that are slippery when wet, the landing at the top of the steps is only large enough for a person to stand at to open the door, making it annoying while carrying luggage.The room itself was dirty. The shower was so gross we didn't shower in it. And the toilet wasn't bolted to the ground. I was afraid toilet water would flood the bathroom during a flush. Thankfully we were there only one night.And the wifi didn't work. Of course.Do not stay here. Drive a few more minutes to find a better place.

Honest review: Friendly staff. Location is hidden; off the beaten path. Not much space and especially if you have a Straight Truck but I called ahead and confirmed first if I could park there and was given the green light. That's a plus.Rooms aren't large but they're decent for a nights rest. TV works perfect. 5 starts overall.

I normally don’t give older hotels 4 stars but this one Was quite a surprise. I expected the worst but ended up having a pleasant stay. The room smelled great, the towels were so soft, loved that! Need and pillows comfy, it was clean, no pet hair, the windows were pretty clean, I had brand new locks on my door, the coffee in the lobby was delicious, the lobby was very organized and clean, it was decorated pretty. The female manager was sweet, kind and funny! My only complaint which has more to do with a cheap owner is the old paired chipped bathtub. The exterior entry keypad wasn’t working, considering it’s an older property almost hidden the manager is doing a great job at making improvements and I could tell that she cares. Slept well and I would return!

After reading the other reviews, we wondered whether staying here would be a mistake. However, we had a pleasant stay. The room was clean, beds were very comfy, and the bedding was clean and looked new. The room itself was nicely decorated, flat screen tv, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. My only negative was the size of the bathroom - small. The outside of the motel needs a bit of TLC and cosmetic improvements. I would stay here again. Regarding the physical location, there are very limited food options. This area of IL has seen better times, but I didn't feel like I had to worry about safety. I believe the motel has been a Days Inn in the past, but it was a Quality Inn when we were there.

I would not recommend staying in the rooms here. This hotel smelt so bad, and was literally FALLING apart. I made my husband get air fresheners across the road at Dollar general because of how bad it smelt like cigarettes. The bathroom ceiling had a huge leaking hole, the window was spray painted and molded. The AC had a terrible leak with a musty smell.On a positive note- the Staff was friendly, and the lobby was only thing clean about this hotel.

The room was nice size except for the bathroom which is very small. The bathroom door look like somebody kicked it in got a hole in it. He betting seem to be not thoroughly cleaned, do you air conditioner doesn't work during a day to cool off but at night after the sun goes down it works fine, if you want to partake in the breakfast you have to get up when it first open up they run out quickly, but the front desk lady is very very nice and helpful.

Absolutely horrifying. The exterior doors to the building did not lock and there was a worker smoking a joint at the entrance. Room was FILTHY and that's an understatement. One mattress was stained brown, the chair was stained, the window was so stained it was impossible to see through, and even the lamp shade was stained. The headboards hadn't been dusted in weeks and there were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. There was hair in the sheets so we slept on top of the covers. The hallway smelled of weed and the room smelled musty as if it hadn't been opened in years. I took photos will be reporting this place.

It wasn't the worst place I've stayed. It was fine for a night on the way to someplace else. The room smelled strongly of air freshener. The beds were uncomfortable. Breakfast was nearly nonexistent. But it was relatively clean. The room had a fridge and microwave. It was affordably priced. The pool area looked nice, though we didn't have time to swim. The staff was friendly.

The room was fine. What I did not care for was the lack of security. None of the the doors to the building with motel rooms locked. Had I known this before paying for the room, I would have gone elsewhere. Breakfast was not good. Then things got worse. We went back to the room to shower and the fire alarm is going off to the point where we packed up and left because they couldn't get the fire department there fast enough to turn off the fire alarm

Good small motel. Its was clean and quite with reasonable rates. Hotel staff were friendly. Not much around the hotel except a few abandoned buildings but don't let that freak you out. Cairo has been hit hard economically. Area was safe and quite. We were hungry so we headed over to the dollar general store which is is a quartet mile away and got a couple microwave dinners since there weren't many food options around. Comfortable beds, we slept well.

Set up reservation. Very reasonably priced. Rooms were not bad, but plumbing was a no go. I had small children with me and there was like this weird stuff peeling from the tub almost like paint, and the drain wouldn't plug. Didn't have a chance to check out the pool or breakfast , but staff was great. I ended up not staying the night because the tub issue was in two other rooms as well. Gave a full refund with no problem. I'd give them another shot in the future after a little updating in the bathroom.

Front desk smelled like cigarettes. Lady was very nice. She gave us room was good and clean, looked good only problem was sink didn't drain. We got another room, it was not clean. People on 2nd floor was running around in room till 3am. Some wild kids runnings in 1st floor, trashing place. That is not hotel but other people's creatures.

The staff , Amanda, Cindy,Georgia is the best.Very helpful and very caring for our situation that we were in.They went way above to help us.Our room was nice and very clean.The maid was very helpful as well.if we ever come this way again we will definitely come to this location to stay(cairo). We actually feel like we made friends with the staff! Thanks again for the care and making us feel at home!Lorie and Tim

I do enjoy staying at this hotel, as everyone knows all hotels have good and bad the only issue we had was the tub. Upon trying to give my daughter a bath found out only the shower part worked and paint was coming off the tub. Contacted the man at front desk and was immediately placed in another room. That was the ONLY issue we had. The staff was amazing and customer service was the best we had ever received from any hotel. Room was very clean and the beds were very soft, we will be staying at this hotel every time we visit family.

This place is very run down. The maintenance people here Are not too bright. Even the non smoking section smelt like a carton of Marlboro's have been smoked in in every day since 1981. This place looks like somebody had a house there and put up a quality sign put up a quality sign and made a whole bunch of rooms in the back. Also the complimentary breakfast only had enough out for the maintenance people's kids to eat Just don't come to this place

NO HOT BREAKFAST! Check in was easy and the room was cozy and comfortable. Thats where the good review stops. Upon entry to the floor, the hallway had a distinct mildew/old smell. The room itself smelled and looked clean and fresh. Throughout the night, patrons were yelling and running through the halls. Our car alarm went off and when I looked out the window, a person was stumbling through the parking lot. They advertise on their page a fresh hot breakfast. This is Covid time, so I was expecting a diminished breakfast, but there was literally only prepackaged sweet rolls, juice, coffee and yogurt. There were sections with a toaster and a waffle bar, but nothing to make.

Eww is the first word I can think of to describe this motel. We just needed a place to sleep from midnight until 8am so for that it sufficed but the place smelled heavily of cigarettes, pot, and moisture, the paint was peeling in the shower, the walls really needed some TLC, and head end of the beds was lower than the feet causing us to have the feeling of blood rushing to our heads. The supposedly secure door on the building didn't lock and the staff was all but non-existent as there was no one at the desk when we went to leave. It was not a good experience but like I said, there were beds so it sufficed. It was not the "quality" I expect from choice hotels

Run! Run faster! I had to wait 30 minutes for someone to wake up and check me in then the room has a horrible smoke presents. Paint is pealing off the walls. The mirror looks like it was whipped down with oily rag. Shower curtain rod is ripped out of the wall at both ends. Towels are ( I'm telling myself) stained. Lousy water pressure. However the A/C is awesome

This hotel was one of the worst I've ever stayed at. The tub was chipped and filthy, there were hairs all in the tub. The room and hallways smelled of cigarettes and weed. There were people hanging out in the hallway at night being super loud and disrespectful, banging on doors, running up and down, stomping, acting twacked out. The place was very sketchy. They gave us the room right beside the entry door, which was super loud. Very thin walls. Advertised free breakfast, there was none. Also mentioned premium wifi, it sucked.red roof in is 10 dollars cheaper and nicer, go the extra 30 miles to avoid this dump.

Horrible didn't get the room I booked. Check in attendant had attitude when I called him on it . If I'm paying for a certain room give me the room I'm paying for plan and simple . No real breakfast snack cakes is all . Bring a truck driver some of us rely on hotels having a full breakfast . And when a hot breakfast is advertised and all they have is the sweet cakes is in acceptable.just horrible

This place is really old and has not been taken care of. Our key card didn't work, desk clerk told us the door key box battery was going dead. WELL FIX IT! We got in our room and it smelled of cigarette smoke - we asked for a non smoking room. The bathroom was gross, chipped paint in the tub and the overhead light had no cover. Of the three lights over the sink only 2 were working. Easy enough FIX IT! The couch had a big stain on it and so did the floor. Clean it and FIX IT! When leaving the next morning my husband went in the lobby to tell them about all the things we found and the woman desk clerk basically said she knows but the management won't do anything about it!! My husband said she became defensive and she started yelling at him. I could hear her yelling as he walked back to the car. DO NOT GO To this hotel. It is very sketchy, and the people who run the place are sketchy too.

I stayed at this hotel earlier in the year on a visit to my daughter and did not have the best experience. However, I went recently and they are under new management as the service is much better and my experience much more pleasant. I Would recommend this hotel very clean rooms and friendly professional service at the front desk, Amanda the front desk clerk was very helpful and nice .

For a place that states it has wheelchair accessible rooms, this is not true. My husband is not able to reach the toilet in his wheelchair and the "support railing" is not even attached to the wall. ADA is going to love to hear about this. Absolutely terrible. Room was not clean, sink clearly had spit dried in it from someone brushing their teeth.
