Just go to Home Depot or Menards, they'll lie to you on the phone and say they have things in stock without ever getting eyes on it. Wasted many trips just to have to go to a big box store. Save your time & gas money in this economy, this place isn't worth it!

I don’t want to give you my phone number so tell your cashier to not give me attitude when I tell her I don’t need it. Also tell her to stop having conversations with customers she knows, it makes the line longer when cashing out. Times have changed and so should she.

Big Ace hardware in a strip mall. Bought some ice melt and they had plenty in stock. I went back and bought plastic tray for wet shoes. Good prices and helpful staff.

Website said an item was in stock that we needed. Went in. First person said "Oh, that's the corporate website" implying the numbers are never right and made no attempt to help us. Next tried three people behind the register. One told us if it shows in stock, they have it. Go look in aisles xyz. Which we already did, but we looked again. No item. Went back to him. He then went to go get some device to show whether there's stock or not. Showed there was stock. But there wasn't.Anyway...after 20 minutes of back and forth and searching, we left and found what we needed....at a competing store.We have been at this Ace only 2-3 times over the past 10 years, mainly because their prices are significantly more than HD and Menards. The one time in recent memory we wanted something there and were willing to pay was a complete failure.No reason to ever go back.

Called to see if they had something in stock. Showed up 3 minutes later. They did not. Told the manager to advise her people to just go check instead of just saying yes. Because it's frustrating as a customer. She told me she wasn't a "dog trainer". If you're not there to train your employees, what the hell are you managing?

Need a specific anchor, so I ran to Ace. Like usual walked in asked the first person I saw and like magic they knew exactly what I wanted and where it was. Love all my Aces!!!!!!

I am so happy I decided to stop in to buy some sidewalk salt a few weeks ago! I was greeted with such a warm welcome from all of your employees, and then Tom noticed that I was eyeing the Weber grills for my husband. He came over to see if I had any questions, and was patient in telling me about the perks of each grill. He told me the sale price, and I left with a quote for the make and model I liked best in my hand. Once I convinced my husband that we needed the grill, I went back to purchase it, and Tom and Cheryl both went above and beyond to make sure I got the grill we wanted and I was happy with my purchase! It was delivered SO quickly (Thank you to John "Krez" who did such an amazing job getting it onto our back deck!) We are super excited to be able to make New Year's steaks on our new Weber!I had given up on the past ownership of this store-- never felt like they were helpful. TOTALLY different experience now. We'll be back for sure! Thank you Tom and Cheryl, and everyone else who is so helpful at Len's Ace Hardware!! Happy Holidays!

I came in the other day and needed help finding certain things for a DIY project I'm doing with my daughter. A young man named Greg helped me find all of the supplies I needed, he was so helpful, patient and nice. A few weeks ago my wife and I were in and we got flowers the lady who's always outside tending to the flowers was so nice and helpful as well she had so much knowledge. It was truly a pleasure coming in and getting everything we needed both times.

For the record, it's hard to give the staff anything less than 5 stars. They are always helpful when I need something. Additionally, the store has a beautiful selection of plants out front, and I can always get what I need inside. HOWEVER Can I respectfully request a seasonal outdoor register for plants and bagged garden items like mulch? Even though all three registers were going, one look at the 10 people ahead of me made me wonder why there wasn't a garden register. I get that the owner probably wants to generate some additional sales of the indoor stuff, but an additional register would go a long way toward customer service. Again, the people that work here are great and they get 5 stars!

Terrible, Terrible, Rude Service!!I had a worker at my house doing an all day job. He needed more nails, so he gave me one and I went to Mutual Ace to get some. The customer assistant walked me to the nail section, looked at the wall for a minute and said that he would look it up on the computer. He never came back- just left me there. After 15 minutes, I grabbed something I thought might work and left.About an hour later, my worker needed specific screws with anchors. A different assistant seemed agitated that he had to help me find them, and told me that "the "A******" that was doing my work should haul his A** to the store himself." After I got the screws, as I walked away, he again said, "Don't forget to tell the A****** not to send his little helper." I have never been treated so rudely at any store.

this place has the absolute worst customer service i have ever witnessed. not to mention rude and disrespectful. i called this store to see if the screen door was ready for pick up after the 10 days was up. (said it would be done in 10 days) the man who i spoke with on the phone simply said its not done and would be a few more days. i tried to explain im doing a job for someone and today was my last day on this job and i would not be back here but this man refused to listen and then screamed over me said i dont know what to tell you and hung up the phone. with the prices being at least double compared to what things cost at home depot i personally will never shop in this store again

Good clean store. Every time i need something i always get good advice.they fixed my window screen. i fixed my own toilet with their help. good price on water softer salt and i put an extra bag in my trunk for Ice if i get stuck too..

May not be as cheap as the big box stores, but it makes up for it in employee knowledge and service. They are easy to find and happy to help. It's much easier for a quick visit/purchase here, than at its larger competitors. I can be in and out in under 5 minutes vs 30 minutes at a Home Depot/ Lowe's

I don't know what to say, I went into ace for picture hangers, I've already been through 3 stores and was loosing steam, I asked where the hangers were, they showed me where, went up to the cashier and left, THE BEST COSTOMER SERVICE! After having a horrible day, they actually brightened my day. I will go to ace hardware buffalo grove for all of my hardware needs.

Service is great. I got assisted right away when I needed it. I just came in for license plate screws, but I wasn't able to find screws that fit. My car's screw sockets are probably stripped so that might be a reason. Anyway, I didn't put 5 stars because it also might be their inventory. Usually I go online and find exactly what I want so inventory is not too much of a problem. Inventory and variety of that inventory are something I always look for when reviewing a store. For the small store that it is, it's great but nothing extraordinary.

I thought the draw of a locally owned hardware store franchise was that the people were a little nicer and more helpful.Instead, I waited around for 10 minutes at the paint counter, ignored, until an employee pointed to someone walking by with a coffee and said "he'll help you."I told him what I needed and he told me that I still needed a mask to be inside (I guess he doesn't believe in science, especially because he was wearing a cheap polyester gaiter, which the cdc does not and has never recommended). I went to my car to get my mask. When I came in, he had walked away. He didn't start making the paint I told him I was there for. Nope. He heard me say what I needed, then asked me to get a mask, and did something else. He waited for me to come back with a mask to start the thing I needed him to make. I mean, I had already waited 15 minutes to be acknowledged and spoken to, so what's another few minutes of making me wait?I told him why I needed the paint, and unlike a local hardware store person might consider doing, he offered no suggestions, no tips, no pointers, no products. We didn't discuss it any further. Dude wanted me to take my paint and run.I even had to ask for stir sticks.Not sure I'll be going back. Paid more for the other stuff I needed to buy than I would elsewhere and got nothing for the experience, other than the paint I came in for. I'm pretty sure the big box stores can treat me exactly the same way. The difference is that I'll pay a little less and my expectations will be met.

Len's Ace hardware is awesome. Killer selection, organized, clean, and the staff is super helpful. They do law mower/ snow blower repairs as well. Great selection of grills, smokers, and pizza ovens priced the same as online, and I believe they offer delivery/setup.

I have going there for more than 25 years whenever I have a problem with any home related issue. Same people serving me for very long time are very helpful and creative. For example today Frank spent lot of time with me helping me to get the parts for broken vacuum cleaner and assisted with replacing them. He helped me and my wife multiple times before.You get professional advice and help from these people for your plumbing, electrical and small project solutions. Tom is another excellent example of outstanding service.

The staff always goes above and beyond what they need to do.The store is pretty big for an Ace hardware and has very nice selection. Add broken the key to my car and it has a chip in it. The gentleman not only helped me figure out how to reprogram the key explain the whole process to me before we did it. It went very smooth and saved me over $200 instead of the dealership.Every experience I've had at this store has been amazing.

I am not planning to return. The staff is not knowledgeable of their products or friendly. The most experienced guys are the most confused how to stick with one customer at a time, very irritating when they kept allowing themselves to be interrupted by pushy customers and other staff members.I guess doing your own on line research for home repairs is taking the place of the hardware store's friendly and experienced staff they used to have that could help you.

Today my husband went to this location for assistance in purchasing glue. He asked the employee for a recommendation, and that employee said I don't know you have to read the packages. In the mean time the manager was in another aisle and heard this interaction. He did nothing to correct this lack if assistance and provide guest service. We lived in California and ACE was know for there level of assistance and going above and beyond to help a customer. This is not true for the.the Buffalo Grove location.

I never write reviews but today was different, I came in today. I was met with a greeting by a current employee named Vlad. I was unsure of a DIY project, but after speaking to him. I gained so much motivation , confidence, and excitement to work on my bench that he helped me size screws up for. I truly admire that this store has amazing employees and the owner seems to be doing everything correct.... I am now a loyal customer to this Ace! Thank you Vlad!

Nice locally-owned outfit. The Store looks great been vastly improved and the staff is very helpful and friendly. By the way... It's now Len's Ace. Way back it was Zimmerman True Value. So of the original folks are still around. I like this place.
