The nightly rates are cheap but that doesn’t remotely justify how dirty our room was. The fridge had weird stains, There was a hole in the wall like someone punched it. No hot water. Cigarette burns on the bed. Weird stains on the carpet. I slept with my clothes on including my jacket on top of the covers. The whole damn place should be demolished honestly. There is nothing going for this motel and the outside lobby looks like it’s last renovation was in 1983 and it was downhill from there

Great place to stay whilst working in the area. Clean and no bugs. Excellent friendly service. Excellent price. I stay here frequently when traveling for work and it is quiet, no matter what shift I happen to be working. I have many options on where to stay when I travel in this area but I always choose the Sun because of the friendly owners and the affordable rates for the room that I rent for an extended stay.

The only reason I did not give a 5 is due to the second room my friends were in. My room was GREAT!!!! My traveling partners had a stank in their room like stale smoke. Of course they are smokers and may not have smelled it. The management is trying to correct it. Smoke lingers. They show you the room before you pay!!!! AWESOME!!!!! A little hard to find due to no lit signs but for sure a place to stay. No bed bugs!!!!! Bathroom is by looks no bueno but sanitized non the less. Not top of the line but worth the pay. Friendly service!!! YOU NEED A LIT SIGN!!!!

The hotel itself was great! Unfortunately my roommate turned out to be really messy and annoying. I woke up to him cuddling me! We were also robbed by the pizza delivery boy while we slept so that sucked. Lastly our Uber driver showed up late and wasn’t what we expected. He even made is wife load our luggage! She was short and skinny, but she was Strong… 😳 If you’re ever in the area you should stay here if for nothing else because you’d be staying where cinematic history was made. 👍🏻

The staff was very nice when I was checking in but as soon as I got into the room there was a big hole in the wall. Water pressure was low. Also the hot water would take 30+ mins just to warm up. I had to complain 4 times in order for the manager to do anything. I've asked about fixing the TV and didn't get a response. I am sadly here for a week and would highly not recommend coming here. Avoid at all cost. Bed stains, holes in covers and very flithy room. The tub was also dirty and hair inside the drain when I wanted to shower.

The gentleman who checked me in at 12:30 am was very nice and quite helpful. Unfortunately, that is about the only positive thing I can say about this place. The furnishings and hotel overall need renovation, badly. They have flat-screens in the rooms, but that money would have been better spent on getting the hotel up to snuff. Everything seems to have a stain, and my room had a used pair of stained panties on the floor when I walked in. The AC works at least, but if I wasn't desperate for somewhere to stay, I would have passed this place in a heartbeat.

I'm a chaser of movie filming locations & that's the reason I landed here! Planes, Trains, and Automobiles! It's here where John Candy & Steve Martin abandoned the Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country and summon for a ride to catch a train. That's when Owen and his very tough pregnant wife come to pick them up. She loads their luggage as Del & Neal wonder what they got themselves into

I stayed there a while. Sammy and Rose are nice people. Nice and big rooms. The one I had can exercise and sit and watch tv. And nice big bed. Would recommend. Sorry for the late review. Better late then never.

Very awesome place. Got peaceful sleep no any disturbance. Beside l-55 location is very helpful. Clean rooms, clean hallway big open space marvelous loan, good view, and odorless atmosphere, cooperative staff and lovely behavior. It’s HISTORICAL PLACE as PLAIN, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES. Many people come here to take photos of the MOTEL and feel like they stayed here. Recommend to stay here to be proudest part of the life.

The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff and specially "Sam" was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting here for stay.

Even for the 3-4 hours we slept there it was uncomfortable and not worth the $49. Stained sheets and covers, unclean bathroom, cold & low water pressure in the sink, heat took 2 1/2 Hrs to kick in, and the bed was uncomfortable and low. I slept in my clothes and coat until I left to get back on the highway.... The manager didn't sound pleased on the phone when we stopped in, but she did a good job of covering it up when she saw us in person. Her son was nice

The price was low, but you certainly got what you were paying for! I mean, WOW, these rooms were so small you would have to go outside to change your mind. If you brought more than 1 piece of luggage, you would not have room to put it anywhere. In the room we were in, we were able to watch no more than 6 channels clearly. Any other channels that we were supposed to get, were either not coming g in at all or were so fuzzy, it was like watching g TV in the 1980's w/ a rabbit ear antenna on top of it!

The good;Friendly, even when I checked in at 2am. Comfortable bed. Quiet, even with room that faced the highway.The bad;Stained sheets and towels. Low water pressure and slivers of soap stuck to shower curtain. Parts of shower looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Whole place had a dated/dirty, in need to remodel feel to it.

Del Griffith told me he enjoyed the vibrating bed there, but accidently left some cans of beer on it and the next can "exploded" when he opened it on the bed making it wet all night.

The staff were really nice people. You have to feel for the staff. They are such sweet hearted people. The sun motel is a place to make friends. It feels like your a family with everybody in motel.

Hell is better than this place. I am surprised it hasnt been shut down with all the fire violations and local police and fire just turn their heads the other way. It stinks badly, a know drug place, this is where the city sends people and govt. When people are displaced. I would rather take my chances with coyotes in the wild. Well over charged at 600.00 monthly with no shower pressure, no amenities whatsoever, appears to be mold on the bathroom floors. Just 7nbelievable considering it was the motel filmed in TRAINS, PLANES AND AUTOMOBILES. Aviid this if possible and stay on the highway 30 minutes in either direction for a much better choice of places to stay.

PLANES TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES! Stop here! They accept discount credit cards but they'll have to charge you for a double... Be careful where your other hand is.... It'll sometimes land between 2 pillows.... Free Pick up motel shuttle to Stubville.... The pick up drivers wife will load up your luggage for free! A great place!
