GIVE QUEENIE A BETTER HOME! The only reason i’m rating 2 stars is due to the housing of the large Puffer in the center tank and the Queen Triggerfish. Both of which are highly intelligent fish and are clearly bored in their habitats. I’ve been going to this store for years and love the fish selection, but these two beauties always make my heart hurt a bit. The puffer deserves a change in its environment for enrichment purposes. He just swims in circles :( The queen triggerfish even more so. She’s beautiful and paces back and forth in her small tank. PLEASE, if you cannot provide her with a larger home, at least change up the decor in the tank and provide her some enrichment. This beauty is meant to swim hundreds of miles across the atlantic. If you’re going to keep a triggerfish in captivity, they need 500 gallons MINIMUM and live food/crustaceans for enrichment (which it does seem they give her). Apart from that I love this store and the employees seem to genuinely care & are very passionate. On all other accounts the animals are well taken care of and even though the handling can be stressful; it’s good for the animals to be socialized early.

Good place for my experience. I bought my reptile enclosure, and had some decor or items that were required that were given at a decently fair price for where this town is located at. Staff were friendly and very helpful with picking and showing me what I needed, and even used a cart to get the tank to get it into the back of the trunk. Even got my Bearded Dragon there, was a steal for what kind of morph he is and these Bearded Dragons are sourced from a registered breeder. Would buy from here again!Also wanted to note that I had a vet check-up with my Bearded Dragon and he was entirely healthy as well with no medical issues!

We were looking for a bigger tank for our betta fish and Chris was such a big help! We are new to the aquarium hobby and Chris walked us through what products we needed and gave us helpful advice. He was very patient with us as we decided what products to get. If you ever need help or friendly advice, I highly recommend talking to Chris.

Besides you can bring little plague snails and water fleas on their plants, the store is amazing and ginormous ! Excellent aquarium supplies and aquarium display tanks, looks like the shedd aquarium! Beautiful animals, I loooove Queenie she's gorgeous and big! Staff are knowledgeable and very helpful when you need something. And I'm happy to hear they accept fish donations if my fish have lots of babies 🙈😅 plants are super vibrant and green Recommend getting your fish here!

I have been shopping here for fish and fish supplies for years. I had an issue with one of the fish we got and asked to see if there was any way I could get an exchange. I was denied an exchange for a $30 crayfish that unfortunately ate one of my fish and one of my frogs even after being promised by staff that these three in one tank would not be an issue. I understand the exchange policy and respect that but the way I was treated by the manager of the fish department there was completely unprofessional. He never once even stopped to actually talk to me or even look me in the face. Don’t know, he may need more training because he definitely lacks customer service skills. I hope this review reaches the store manager and they can provide this individual with some additional training. Adding two stars because I enjoy shopping here .

Brought plants home and apparently brought ram snails and water fleas home as well. There fish are almost double the price as anywhere else and policy is only to guarantee a fish for two days. Fish should be guaranteed for the full 30 day quarantine if you’re gonna charger those prices. No way of me knowing it may have something wrong till it’s to late and now I wasted money and time and now I don’t have the fish I wanted.

Awesome variety of live plants and layout! The fish selection is solid, and there is good mojo here. However, there is 1 specific employee here that makes this place stink worse than rotting fish (the red-headed douchebag kid). His arrogance & bro-like attitude is obnoxious to say the least. He also eerily sounds like Donald Trump, and it's absolutely hilarious. The other fish employees are fantastic, but this guy is a chump!

We bought our conure sweet pea from this location. She was constantly handled by the staff and was very socialized when we adopted her. They always have a huge assortment of exotic birds, amongst other animals. They also offer all the supplies needed when you buy a pet, and free nail trimmings for life which is awesome.

Always one of our favorites to go spots whenever we're in the area. We enjoy all the different aquariums with the variety of fishes, bird's, chinchillas, and different types of pets and supplies as well. Friendly employees.

The staff was very kind as opposed to other times I have been there. I have 2 well established tanks. I bought 6 fish of 3 varieties and dispersed them in my tanks. None being of the same variety in different tanks. Within a few days many of my fish had disease and died quite quickly. When I bought the clown pleco I noticed 3 dead clown plecos in their tanks. I said to the girl, I'm not so sure about this purchase because I can clearly see 3 dead plecos in your tank. She said that's common to have a few fish die upon delivery. Ok, that makes sense. I asked if I should be worried about the fish I'm buying being sick. She said no as long as she picks one attached to the glass. Well, in both of my tanks I suddenly had fish loosing scales and dying despite adding pimafix in an attempt to save them. I'm really sad to loose fish that I've had for years just bc I bought fish from this establishment. I will not be purchasing fish from them again. I bought 1 clown pleco, 3 otocinclus and 2 mickey mouse platy. The pleco went in 1 tank and the other 5 in a different tank.

Great one stop shop if you want to check out fish while grabbing dog food.Fish range in price from very affordable to over priced depending on species, but being a member of their fish club helps.They have a good selection of aquatic plants and driftwood which frequently go on sale so it’s a good place to swing by if you’re in the area!

So incredibly sad…was in the area for the reptile expo and stopped by and this store almost brought tears to my eyes especially the reptile section the setups were terrible some things that stood out even more then the others the baby cresties tank had disgusting stagnant water at the bottom from the dirt flooding and them not cleaning it to the point the substrate was almost all the way under water and I took a vid it even had parasite worms coming out of one of the crickets in the tank from all the dead crickets in the tank that also looked to big for them let alone all the feces that was in that enclosure and on the walls another one was one of the ball python had a absolute ton of stuck shed on them layers and layers of it so incredibly sad to see the conditions they are housing these living animals in and doing it proudly there was also some rehoming leopard geckos one being 2 in the same tank the enclosure selling them in wasn’t proper either but they were also recommending that they go together which is so incredibly false information and dangerous to be giving out info like that they are solitary animals and known to attack each and even kill each other one per tank max and the “cuddling” that was put on there that they like to do is them competing for resources not wanting to cuddle each other…Now for the small animal part…all the tanks r open for ppl to touch and grab etc any of them there were kids ripping hides off animals to take them out of their enclosures while their sleeping or trying to get away from the craziness and handling them so rough and just stressing them out let alone the fact that small animals ESPECIALLY ferrets can contract sickness from humans it takes one person with a simple cold to make all those poor ferrets sick that is so incredibly irresponsible to put your animals health at risk like that there was also no push for hand sanitizer or anything inbetween each animal species or different tank which is even more baffling it’s like they want their animal to get sick and spread sickness to other aroundThis petstore is beyond a shame just as bad if not worse then petco/petsmart idk how someone could work at a place like that animal health and husbandry should always come first and they are not doing that..

This place is amazing! It has any type of fish,decor, supplies and everything else you may need for your fish tank.They even have eels and stingrays! Prices are very reasonable as well. They also have a lot of different things for all types of pets. They have a lot of puppies that you can play and buy,kittens,birds,all types of rodents, hermit crabs and fish. I highly recommend this place.

My family and I have come here a couple times as we recently started a small fish aquarium in our house. Their fish selection is amazing, and we have found their staff to be very knowledgeable about fish care and very friendly. They also have a huge selection of aquariums and decor. Maybe you pay slightly less at the local big box pet store, but this place is worth any extra cost for their selection and expertise. We also picked up a handful of ember tetras today and were pleasantly surprised they were on sale for half off (and CHEAPER than the big box stores, most of which don't have ember tetras). Highly recommend.

Well I have shopped at aquarium adventure before. it's an okay place. I think some of their livestock on both saltwater and freshwater are a bit overpriced. I don't go to Hoffman estates that often and you can save if you get a membership about 20%. On livestock aquarium supplies, fish food etc. It seems like they are up in maintaining their fish tanks and keeping their fish and livestock healthy even their aquatic plants as well as their saltwater fish and corals and amenities. It's just that I've been to other fish places that are much better than this in the Chicagoland and suburban areas that I can think of. Other than that, it's not bad but it's nothing spectacular or excellent. Do come here if you are in the Hoffman estates area or the northwest suburbs near Schaumburg, IL if you are going to get into the hobby of aquarium fish keeping both saltwater and freshwater. I have been in the hobby for the past 8 years. prior to that as a kid it was on and off with this hobby since my folks didn't have enough money to spend on the equipment the food and the supplies of maintenance.

A pretty good place with friendly staff. They have a large selection of fish, and a better selection of care equipment than most places nearby. Their big downfall is price. They are more expensive than most places nearby, and without joining their fish club, their prices would be downright nuts. They're only ok ish at the fish club rate. The conditions for their animals also seem better than average.

I have been coming to Aquarium Adventure for just over 2 years now and have been keeping freshwater fish. After starting to get the itch to start a saltwater tank to learn. I came to be very confused and overwhelmed very quick with all the different parameters, water condition, and all of the "rules" that come with owning a successful saltwater tank. After walking into the store yesterday and I began talking with an employee named Brian. He immediately went over the different type of tanks you can create with saltwater and how each one of the works and the requirements for each. Brian went beyond the extra step and helped me map out what the required steps are for starting and as well as maintaining a healthy and successful saltwater aquarium. Explained the benefits of live rock and how to properly organize the tank to maximize the filtration and for proper aeration. We then moved to talk about what types of fish I would like to stock my 55 gallon with. I proceeded to tell Brian I honestly have done minimal research and starting going down a list I had created of different fish. Brian went fish by fish and knew ALL of the facts about the fish I was inquiring and truthfully relieved a huge part of the confusion I was having with the communities you can build! Just knowing that Brian cared enough to talk out and build the tank while showing me around the saltwater side of the store with compatibilities of fish, I was even asking about corals and there was not one question that was left unanswered, Brian is the reason I will be coming back to the store and his knowledge of both Saltwater and Freshwater is outstanding. The amount of care he takes with wanting to learn about the customer's tank and wants the best for the fish along with making sure we as the hobbyists can enjoy the most of our tank. Now I know my tank is not much to the veteran hobbyists but this for a start I could not be happier. Knowing I did all the steps correct to ensure healthy fish along with a happy tank thanks to Brian.

I used to have this as a 4 star rating but the invasive snails I got from the plants here are too much. I have shed many tears dealing with these bladder snails and I am unable to purchase a snail-eating loach since I have a male betta currently in the tank. Didn't even get a warning from the worker, even called and just got told to get a loach even though my betta cannot be with other fish. If you are reading this review please do not buy their plants. Waste of time and money. Also do not let kids hold the pets here. These kids do not know how to hold an animal and that shouldn't be up to the parent to keep their kid from doing that, It's an easy fix just don't have an open lid so kids cant squeeze the life out of these animals. Terrible store and won't be purchasing from again.

Very good selection of fish and plants. Very good selection of accessories and tanks. It seems like most of the time I go there, though, I have to ask for help. Otherwise it's my first choice in fish stores.
