She knows her inventory like the back of her hand. A "must stop" place if you are a quilter going through Bloomington, IL!

I visited this quilt shop, which offers a large selection of fabrics, but I would never return. When I arrived, I noticed a lot of fabric on tables outside near the door. After about 10 minutes of browsing through panels, the clerk came out and begin collecting material from the tables and putting them indoors. I kept looking because I didn't want to believe she thought I was going to steal anything and was seeking an excuse to come outdoors. When I walked into the store, there was a political show on the radio that was spewing hate speech. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and listened carefully so I didn't make any wrong assumptions. No, I was right. Because I had selected a few panels, the clerk asked whether I was ready to check out. I declined and told her I found her station disrespectful. She dismissed my remark, saying, "Oh well, it's on all the time." I handed her the fabric, told her it shouldn't be on, and walked out! Never, ever again! There is already much too much hatred in the world to justify supporting a store like this!

CASH ONLY. We took a detour in a long trip to arrive at this store. Very disappointed after I started to shop to find out it is cash only. Should be noted on website along side hours and location.

This was an experience that every quilters should experience at least once. Did have some current li es of fabric but I am sure some has been in store for YEARS. So much fabric on floor in isles I saw one customer too large to fit through. Don't understand why I fire marshal has never visited this store. Or has he?

Had every fabric imaginable. Was very busy, she does give a 20% discount if you pay in cash. Didn't realize till I got home that I did not get mine, so watch your receipt. 4 hours away. But I will go back when I'm back out that way looking for fabric

Great place! So many unique fabrics there. I found lots of great animal eyes and noses there as well. The only thing I wish is that an aisle was big enough for two people. Still, a fun store to wander around in! I moved few years ago and miss this place, compared to the big fabric stores.

This is not a place to quickly run in for fabric. Be prepared to spend sometime. They have LOTS and LOTS of fabric but you just need to explore. They lady who owns the shop is friendly and very knowledgeable, she knows where every little thing is! Nice fabrics, notions etc. When I was there she had a huge sales going on. That shop is closed on Mondays. I will return. Oh parking is good also.

I have been going into the Treadle on and off for 30+ years. It is a unique experience. Fabrics and notions are everywhere in every color imagineable but a word of warning, the place is very crowded with stuff everywhere but the owner has a wealth of knowledge. SHE ONLY TAKES CASH so, Be Prepared! She's a a wonderfully eccentric person and it's fun to talk with her. You'll learn a lot if you give her a try. She probably has what you're looking for, whatever it is.

Absolutely LOVE this place, because it is a treasure hunt!!! Found it on my way to Chicago one Sunday. Just passing through Bloomington and it was the only quilt/fabric store open. Been back several times, even though it is a 2 1/2 hour drive. It is an experience, and I just can't get enough!!!

Yes the aisles are cluttered, the lighting bad, the place is small, but it is an adventure shopping there. I can always find a bargain and the quality of the fabric is very good. And if you can't find some you just need to ask.

I am still amazed that The Treadle exists in a place like Bloomington-Normal! The shop is awesome and carries the best designer fabrics you can find at a pretty decent price. The shop is small and cramped but the owner literally knows where EVERY PIECE of fabric is in her shop. I have called before and asked about a designer and line and she has been able to tell me if she has it and pull it aside for me. I always end up spending more than I planned and always end up with an armful of great fabrics.

Way over packed but fun to meander or squeeze thru checking out all the beautiful fabrics. Owners knows where most everything is! ! Hard to find pieces are usually there. Good sales. If you don't like small spaces, beware. Take cash for extra discount!

If you go with a specific need in mind, you can find some great deals at this store. She knows her stock! Lots of new precuts, lovely bolt fabric and an aisle of sale fabric. If you just go to look, you might get overwhelmed.

The Treadle is a shop witha lot of material in a tight place. The lighting is bad, and the aisles are cluttered. If you are prone to claustrophobia, you won't like this store. But it has more quiltinf fabric than any other place within 50 miles. The fabric is organized by type, manufacturer and color. Also, the owner can tell you when you come in, where to find something. She keeps the Christmas fabric in the front of the store, across from the desk. She keeps flannel down one of the rows. She keeps fabric lines together. If you bring in a piece of fabric, she can tell you who the manufacturer is and if she has any of it in her store. She does have a woman who helps her out occasionally, who isn't as helpful. But that woman also has health problems, so give her a break. I'd be grumpy also if I wasn't feeling well. The owner also provides a 20% discount if you pay in cash. I've asked her to help me find shades of the same color, for French Braid quilts, and she knew right where I needed to go. I've asked her why she doesn't expand her store so there is more room to walk and look for fabric and she said the rent is too high. That, I can understand. While it isn't my favorite store because of the crowded aisle, it is my go-to store when I'm looking for quality quilting fabric that I can't find at other stores close by.

Went in with emotional support dog. Before I could look the owner said is that a service dog? Really ADA says you can't ask. And yes he's my service dogI won't be going back. I'm surprised the fire Marshall hasn't shut the place down.

I have always found whatever it is I'm looking for! Great quality fabric. So many choices. Even though the store is packed with fabric, the owner always seems to know exactly what she has and where it is located.

So much that I like about this fabric and quilting store. BUT, if you have ever been there you know how crowded it is. Just take an aisle of fabric out! It isn't safe! Fire hazard.
