Worst pet experience either. We paid for a rope fish they new we where picking it up later. If in a bag on a cart and an employee resold it. When to pick it up and it was gone we wanted for months to get one and waited a month for this one to get healthy. The lack of communication is mind blowing..then they returned the money on a totally different card which was my fiance. And said next one is half off hummmm how about free. Refund or not that's horrible horrible business. Thank God they only sell fish. I adopted my cat from a privately owned pet place I couldn't Imagine going in and they resold him and it was my father's day gift to him and he has terminal brain cancer. I'm going bad to get my free fish because in my eyes they absolutely screwed up. That's awful and heart breaking.

A truly local pet store with a staff who are experts at what they do. Prices are also shockingly comparable to other options, especially with their frequent buyer card program. I've been buying all my pet supplies here for twenty plus years.

I recommend anyone that has not taken care of fish before to go to these people.. they will fill you with knowledge and any question you need answered about your fish.. I never have and I am now raising North and south American cichlids!

Absolutely wonderful place! We come here to get all things aquatic: fish, tanks, filters, food, lights... They have it all. Monte (in the fish cave) is super knowledgeable and cares about his customers. They ask questions to help you find the right fit for you. In addition to the best fish selection we've found in central Illinois (and honestly, anywhere in Illinois to date), they also have tons of adorable things for furry friends and reptiles too. They have bakery items, unique toys and treats, and your standard and specialty foods as well. I can't recommend it enough.

I paid for 4 male Congo Tera. I got 3 femails and one male. I bought from the tank that was clearly marked males and was assured that they would get theis long beautiful fins and spectacular color. I ended up with one pretty fined fish and the rest are not the same! Also I had one die 3 days later. Ok this happens but most stores will recognize when you have been in there store alot that week. When I went to return the fish to get another $14.99 fish. I feel I was treated like I had 3 heads and I had never been in there! Long story short I will never waist my time in this business ever agian!!

Absolutely amazing store. Ton of aquarium supplies. Filters of every kind, HOB, internal, and canisters. Great selection of fish that looked really good. The Aqua Cave alone is worth the trip. Ton of live and plastic aquarium plants. Huge selection of aquarium decor. It's a family owned business with very competitive prices to the box store. I seen stuff there today that I have only found online. They have a great staff that's very friendly and helpful

Most of the staff here are fantastic. If in doubt with the feedback you're given... double check with another staff member.One staff member spewed rubbish at me about tank cycling that disagreed with all information online but "knew what he was doing as he's done it for 15 years". He tried to tell me that nitrates would go down without water changes, and then the tank was ready to be stocked. Which is completely false.He also recommended fish-in cycling for beginners because "it's easier" - depends on your definition of easy. To me, filling a tank, running a filter and adding small amounts of ammonia over the course of a few weeks before adding fish is easier than doing 50% water changes daily until cycled.All in all, fantastic store and staff, apart from that one bloke.

The only place in town I would trust for advice and guidance on fish. They care about taking good care of the fish and are happy to answer questions. I also appreciate that they look out to make sure I’m taking proper care of the fish I’m buying. Good people!

if you want to get questioned for 45 minutes before being able to buy a fish this is the pet store for you. My experience was not good here and I won’t be back. Was repeatedly asked the same questions over and over again before letting me buy a fish. Even asked for me to call my parents, made me show them a photo of what my parents look like, etc. I’m over 18 and was made to feel like I was 12 trying to buy a fish.

I would usually give 5 stars because of the variety of fish they carry, but as of late, their tanks have been filthy and alot of fish are loaded with ich. I made the mistake and got a fish out of one of their "clean" tanks and now my blue acaras and clown loaches are showing white spots. I would avoid their fish until they get the ich problem under control.

If you want a better place for your fish tank, stop here first. They know, care, and love the fish you are taking home. Don't go to the chain store. Go here.However, if you want anything to add to your tank, it's a full interrogation and you will never any fish for your tank.Very annoyed that they forced me to buy fish I didn't want (goldfish) and now refuse to allow me to buy anything else because they aren't compatible with any of the fish I wanted in the first place.

Super knowledgable people. Ask anyone about fish and they’ll tell you all you need to know. Great success with their fish and plants too. Also a great variety from easy to care for to exotic fish for experienced people. Not just fish but sometimes they have aquatic frogs, axolotls, shrimp, and crayfish. Always my first choice for fish!

I came into the store today honestly to bring in some fish cuz they were fighting and i dont want fights. And went to look for something else. And the selection was low this time around. And i dont know everyone seemed off. They even tossed my Tupperware container around threw four people and to the garbage before it came back to me. And i asked for the plants back too. Im someone that cares for my tank. And fish. The kids that have been working their dont know what they are doing. Maybe not all family-owned places should be kept around. I wont be back here after this experience

Super friendly staff, nice selection of fish as well. Didn't feel rushed or ignored during my visit. Went in for snails and shrimp for our existing tanks and ended up leaving with those and a Fahaka Pufferfish. Did I need him, probably not. Did I want him after he tried to bite my fingers through the glass, absolutely.Lots of unique and fun aquatic species, would recommend their shop to anyone looking for something fun.

Helpful staff!! Locally owned. They offer a wide selection for cat and dog foods that you can't find at other big box pet food stores. Excellent selection of fish, all tanks are clean and fish look healthy. Pricing isn't competitive but they offer frequent purchasing cards, which earns a discount after so many items are purchased of the same item. The staff are knowledgeable about their product's and care about your pets. I appreciate there concern for my animals.

The guys in here are always so knowledgable and patient. They have a pretty awesome selection of fish in their badass aquatic "cave". The store is always super clean, and I always leave here feeling super confident about my aquatic purchases. (They'll also test water samples if you bring them in)

Staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. My dog is a bit of an odd shape so buying harnesses online wasn’t practical. They let me bring him in and try the different options until we found one that fit. Food selection is great. Seems like anything I need they already have on hand in the store.Coupled with the fact it’s local and family owned, I don’t think I’ll be going anywhere else from now on.

If you like overpriced fish and not getting anything back when you take fish in for store credit this is the place for you. I took fish on multiple occasions and they always under bid you so bad if you take a 30 dollar fish you'll be lucky if you get 10 bucks. The employees act like you dont know anything and were super rude they simply dont care about the hobby. Dog food wise they have some decent stuff a little on the high end.

We are FOREVER LOYAL to this LOCALLY OWNED business! We have purchased food and all other supplies from Premium Pet Supply for our dogs, cat, guinea pig, and beta fish for several years now. (Note: the pig and fish were also purchased here and have lived long healthy lives.) If we have any health or grooming concerns with any of our pets, we discuss with their staff and always get some advice we had not considered. Their dog and cat foods are VERY high quality and I'd swear the Fromm Family Foods helped saved my cat's life after he developed serious urinary tract problems due to a stressful situation last year. When the vet wanted to give him Prozac, I went to PPS and we added canned food to Louie's diet so he was getting extra water. Louie is healthy again (without any Prozac), and I am eternally grateful for their advice! As some other reviewers stated, their food may be a bit more expensive, but there is a deep discount for every 7th purchase, and the quality is well worth it. More recently, my fish tank filter pump went out and Monty advised how to take it apart and clean it instead of buying another pump... my problem was solved! Finally, the staff at PPS are always quick to help and to get us checked out, saving me a lot of time! We are VERY HAPPY with this business's service and products!!
