Peerless started out great. Very responsive and streamlined process of getting an appointment. Chuck was great and very personable! Didn’t take long to get him out to get a quote.After the contract was signed, however, this project went off the rails. The 7-9 week lead time was not met and any updates provided on this project was due to me reaching out to the company asking for updates.I was finally given an installation date but come the day of installation the Peerless crew came out, decided it was too cold, and left. I had heard multiple times from office staff that as long as the weather was 10 degrees or higher the crews worked. When I inquired with Katie, she informed me hours later that there would be a crew the following day first thing.The ‘new’ crew assigned to my project didn’t show until 4pm the following day. They came back the following morning and completed the job (6 hours total). The new crew was subcontracted out from Chicago. No issues with that, however, it’d be nice to be provided a heads up that a job is sub-contracted out instead of having trucks show up with no visible company markings.The fence installation had multiple careless issues. The Amigos Fencing crew put all trash in posts, installed broken, dented, and scratched pieces, and installed the handles on the double gate an inch off of one another.Getting anyone to respond from Peerless after this install was nearly impossible. Weeks later after no communication fromKatie a different subcontracted crew randomly showed up at my house. Nothing was fixed correctly or at all.I continued to inquire with Katie at the Bloomington office and never heard back. After I had communicated I would pay for the remaining half of the project after the fence was fixed, I received over 3 calls and emails.It wasn’t until Nola from accounting reached out to a regional manager (Kristen) that ANYTHING got done. Once Kristen got involved I quickly had a crew out that was very thorough and fixed everything correctly.Overall, I have a fence now that I love but the process and communication was nothing but hand holding. This process took from August of 2023 until the end of February 2024 when the fence was finally fixed. If I had a do over, I’d likely not use this company again.

Everyone at Peerless was very responsive when I contacted them. We had an estimate withing 2 days of initial contact. I did find that texting was the best way to initialize contact after we received the quote; even if the text just said to call me. At one time, Chuck and I had a phone call about questions I had at 9:00 PM, because that was when I sent him a text with the questions.Chuck was easy to work with and honest about any questions we had. He gave us his personal cell number to call if we had questions or concerns. He broke the quote down into 4 parts; one for each side of the fence. This way we could go to the neighbors with pricing so they could pay half of their side. It made a huge difference for the overall cost.When I contacted the office manager for scheduling, she was responsive, but vague about timing. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I understand weather and a prior job taking longer than anticipated, but regular email updates would be great.Juan and his crew were amazing. He answered questions, was polite, friendly and they just kept working the entire time they were here. It was very hot and humid the entire time they were here. They did everything exactly how it is supposed to be done and did not cut any corners. They would not even pull in the driveway without asking permission first.We had problems with replacing one of the old fence posts because of buried power lines. Juan found a way to make that post sturdy, use the new posts to make the rest of the fence sturdy in case of a problem later with that post, and still make it look great. We cannot see the old post at all. If that old post fails, it will not effect the strength of the rest of the fence at all.The last day, they worked until 7:00 PM to finish the fence. Juan and his crew cleaned up the mess you always get when doing construction at the end of the job. The only thing I had to do when they left was the new landscaping we had put off until we had a new fence.I can't say enough good things about Juan and his crew. Juan gave us his personal cell number as well.The only thing that could be better about the whole process is more communication on timing. Chuck said originally it could be 6 - 8 weeks before the fence was done due to their schedule and time to get the material. I would suggest that after 4 weeks, begin a weekly email update just for scheduling.The neighbors are happy with the fence as well; and you know how hard it is to please the neighbors sometimes. They said it was sturdy and looked great. I know we are no longer embarrassed about the look of our fence and we no longer worry about our dogs getting out. It is easily the best looking fence in the area.I recommend Peerless in Bloomington to anyone and everyone. We are extremely happy with them. We had a pretty large install across two yards.. Chuck and Andy and his team were awesome.. Install took time but they had alot to do and is was north of 90 degrees, regardless the team was always nice and answered any questions without fail. I would defiantly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a new fence.

We are super happy with our experience with Peerless Fence! Everyone we worked with was great and the prices we were quoted beat the other area companies. We had a simple job of a small side yard fence for our dog. Mike and Landon got the job done in one day and went above and beyond to take care of everything we asked. They are very friendly, helpful, and understanding, and the quality of the work is excellent. Would absolutely recommend; in fact my husband is planning to use them for a larger project at work. Overall, I am very pleased with my fence! Chuck was helpful and efficient throughout the quoting process. Katie was very helpful in squaring away install details and assisted me in obtaining the permit required for my fence, which I was grateful for her guidance and willingness to help. Tony did a beautiful job installing my fence completely on his own in a day and a half. What I appreciated the most was the honesty and integrity of Peerless; despite unforeseen issues on their end regarding the crew, Tony, who is a manager, took it upon himself to complete the project in its entirety and did so in a kind and courteous manner. Other professional companies I have worked with in the past have not demonstrated anywhere near the dedication. My wife and I reached out to 3 companies to get quotes. Peerless seemed to be the most reasonable, and we admittedly felt like we were doing some guessing at first, as we've never purchased a fence and installation before.Chuck Ift came to do the assessment after the initial call, and his jovial and confident personality made us instantly comfortable with our decision. He explained how long he has been doing this and the type of feedback he has received from it. His son now helps run the business, and coming from a line of tradesmen who pass down the trade through generations, I know that you cant have a multigenerational successful business unless you do great work and have great integrity.It was clear from the moment his workers, Tony and Gabe, then came onto the scene of the job that they were upright and were good at what they did. Through some unforeseen circumstances, they ended up having to come back and adjust a couple of things twice. They came back within a couple days to install a wheel on my swinging gate and to make sure our other gate was locking properly. Both trips back to our residential property, 45 minutes away, were done with the utmost promptitude and it was clear that they were not only un-complaining about it...they were glad to be back.Because of this COVID situation, I had the free time to watch them from start to finish, chatting with them the whole time. They were cool with that and did not cut a single corner. They were desiring to hear me out about preferences and concerns I had throughout the process, and I would feel guilty and wrong to not give them the highest recommendation. Chuck worked with me to make the fence I wanted a reality and my neighbors can't say enough about it either - they love it. He custom designed every detail. Alex and Gage did a great job, too. The worksite was cleaned every day before they left, like they had never been there. I will definitely recommend them to my clients and friends. Excellent job!

Seek a different fence company if you want someone responsive and quality customer service. We requested a quote on 4/4 for removing and replacing a section of our existing fence. 2 months later we still do not have an estimate. It took 20 days for the installer came out to review the job to build an estimate. After no contact, I followed up to discover he had no notes or pictures from the appointment. I sent pictures and notes to avoid another appointment. After no contact again, I followed up with a phone conversation where I was promised an estimate that I didn’t receive. I contacted corporate to see if there was another installer in the region - there’s not. They escalated to a regional manager and I still haven’t heard back. Only reason I put in this much work for an estimate with one company was because I had an existing fence that needed a certain brand of post to be ordered to replace damaged posts.Update: The installer did call to apologize and offer to come out a second time to put together an estimate. I’ve already taken my business somewhere else. I do not want to waste any more time.

Unfortunately, my experience with Peerless Fence was not a great one.Zero communication from them after we put our deposit down. We were given a 4 - 7 week window and at the 8 week mark, after not hearing anything from them, I called customer service to check-in. I was promised someone would be in touch the next week to schedule our fence date. When that week came and went, it took 4 more calls to customer service to get a hold of the project manager in charge of scheduling us. I voiced my frustration about the poor service we received and was promised a call back after checking with their “higher-ups”, which we never received.I understand that things happen and businesses get busy but it was very frustrating to invest all of this money upfront and then get ghosted for almost 3 months.At the end of the day, we have a fence, but if we were to do it over, we would not be using Peerless Fence and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.Service: Aluminum fence installation

Peerless installed a privacy fence at our new home. I requested a horizontal fence. Chuck (owner) took specs and took my money. Fence was installed and the installers were very nice but not knowledgeable at all of how to install the horizontal fence. I had to show them pictures of exactly how we wanted it. They were gracious enough to redo some work to make it look okay, but since they installed the posts incorrecctly, it isn’t perfect. Chuck never came to check on them or inspect their work. They were also typically hours later than they planned each work day because the installers had to go get wood and deal with problems, and there were always problems! Some of the fence boards are now bowing so we need to have someone else come out and correct the problem or add braces ourselves. When we hired Peerless originally we mentioned that we wanted them to come back to close off the yard (once our landscaping project was complete). I’ve been trying to get Chuck to call/email/text me back since late fall regarding the warped boards and finishing the project, but he won’t call me back. I would NOT recommend this fencing company. I wish I would’ve looked at the reviews before hiring them!Service: Wood fence installation

Worst experience with a company I’ve ever had. They were hired to replace 4 damaged fence panels. Not only did it take almost a year, they ordered the wrong fence 3 separate times and the “finished” job still isn’t even right. They left screws all over my driveway which ended up with me getting a new tire as well. I expressed my frustrations and all I got was “I’m sorry, please pay us in full within the next 30 days.”. I will never use this company again and I won’t recommend them to anyone.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Paid for 2 fences ( wood privacy & aluminum fence for my dogs) . Wood fence installed in 1 day however many boards are shorter than others my 8 pound dog is able to crawl under the fence in certain spots. Unable to open the gate doors on the fence..They cut my cable line twice and never mentioned it. So xfinity has been out twice to repair the cable line. As of today (4 days later) the aluminum fence hasn’t even been installed. $17,000 is a lot of money to me and I feel I just wasted my money‼️‼️ I tried to contact the guy Austin who was on site the first day and the cell number he given me isn’t even his number… Never Again‼️‼️‼️Service: Fence installation

Our neighbor got a fence installed and beforehand Julie came out and located the telecommunications lines which were in the way of the fence they wanted to install. They dug the posts with an auger right on top of the Julie lines cutting our internet. We asked the worker to not set the post until they could come out and fix it next day.. He argued with us and told us they do it ALL the time and that his boss wanted it done today.He set the posts and now we have had a temporary line to an internet box down the road for a month because he couldn’t bother to wait or care about the line he cut. They just wanted to get it done as fast as possible without regard for anyone else. I hope they got a hefty bill from the telecommunications company.Service: Wood fence installation

Peerless did an amazing job on the aluminum fence at my new house! The contractor was L&J Construction and they were on time, professional, and courteous. We ended up having to change the dog pen area because it looked much smaller in real life than in our plans, but we caught it early and the guys were very good about changing the plans on the fly. Fortunately it did not require any additional materials. The guys were very accommodating. They got it all done in one day which was even better. The fence looks wonderful! From start to finish this has been a great experience! We called Peerless fence and they came out within one day to look at our yard and provided a quote same day. Peerless Fence assigned a project manager that kept us up to date when our fence was being installed which was within the original timeframe we were given. Installers came out, reviewed the plan to ensure they had all the details right and then got to work! Installers were extremely professional and had the fence up in one day. These guys are the best! I had my fence installed 2 1/2 years ago. I’m writing my review today because one of the hinges on our gate was broken by our lawn company. I contacted Andy on a Saturday, not sure if he’d remember me and the fence he installed for us, but he responded to me immediately!! He came out personally on Monday with a hinge and fixed our gate in a few minutes! I’m so grateful for customer service like this. Nowadays you just don’t get that kind of service. But these guys go above and beyond for their clients!We absolutely love our fence! After 2 1/2 years it’s been amazing for our family, our dogs and my daycare business. It’s been maintenance free and looks fantastic. I highly recommend this company!!! Thank you again.

I have nothing bad to say about this company. Chuck Ifft showed up on time and did everything that needed to be done to fix a problem a different fence company in town caused. I had to have my fence moved after the city showed up and said it was 16 inches over my property line on new construction properties. What a headache! Do your research on a certain fence company in town. And make sure they put it on your property. Because they won’t help you out if they didn’t. Had fence put in 1 and 1/2 years ago, had some damage happen so I called the 800 customer service number in September. I have called them 3 times now and can't get them to look at my fence and I also sent pictures of damage to them. So I called chuck ifft because he is in charge but I have also called him 3times and can't get him to call back either. I have been trying for months now. so they have terrible customer service. If I could give 0 stars I would. LONG REVIEW. In short, I do NOT recommend this company because of these reasons - lack of communication, unable to meet promised deadlines, no-call-no-show when scheduled, cut internet cables while drilling in ground, did not contact JULIE to come out again after pushing back my scheduled date by 2 weeks, informed me that I did NOT need a permit for the installation because the new fence was essentially the same as the current fence (same height, type, perimeter, everything) and failed to keep me informed. Now, the city of Bloomington has sent me a letter stating that I am in code violation for not obtaining a permit. Peerless started the work REGARDLESS that I did not submit a permit to them (according to them, I didn’t need to) and did not inform me that it was necessary to begin work.Here’s my entire review:Chuck came out to my house for a quote on April 14TH. I was told my fence installation would be started in 4-6 weeks so I signed a contract. Chuck TOLD ME (so I have no proof in writing) that I do NOT need to obtain a permit from the city because the new fence is essentially the exact same as my current fence - same boundaries, same type of fence (6ft wood privacy). Here’s everything that went wrong:- I was told 4-6 weeks but ended up being scheduled for June 1st. Then, it was pushed back to June 15th.- June 15th came, they were supposed to arrive by 9am. NO ONE SHOWED UP-—10am, I texted Austin asking what was going on because no one showed up. He replied saying that the guy coming to my house had issues with his truck that had to be fixed and that he would be out to begin my current fence tear-out afterward. But, still no-show.—12pm, I texted Austin that 2 hours had gone by and he didn’t reply to me. An hour later, I had to call Peerless main office to get any information. The woman I spoke with contacted Austin for me and he finally reached out to say that they were on the way. Still no-show.—5pm, I texted again as I was fed up and threatened to cancel the contract. I wanted out. And he replied that everything he was telling me was being relayed to him by another person in the office as he was not actually in-office and didn’t know what was going on. Terrible, terrible communication.— 6pm-7pm, the branch manager (Tony) randomly showed up at my house and offered to begin the tearout of my fence himself right then and there.June 16th (next day):- The contractor was a one-man team so my fence installation took about a week instead of the 2-3 days that I was promised. I understand that it took so long because he was working by himself and it was extremely hot outside. But I was still disappointed that Peerless could not keep their word.- the utility markings from JULIE were already mostly faded by the 16th. Our internet went out and the contractor actually hit 2 of our Comcast lines - the one feeding to our house AND the main service line so it knocked out service for both of our neighbors, too. I don’t know if the contractor knew he did it or not, but he didn’t tell me about it or apologize.Now:- I have a letter from the City that I violated safety code by not obtaining a permit. While I should have gotten a permit, Chuck telling me that I did not need one was misleading and I’m disappointed that Peerless as a whole was so unprofessional.Service: Fence installation

Peerless fence sent L & J construction to put our fence up and I have nothing but great things to say about them. They were wonderful to work with. Professional, on time and delivered a great quality product in a timely manner. All our expectations were met and we had a great experience overall. I would definitely recommend them.
