Our Riccar vacuum roller bar stopped spinning so we took it to a local repair shop in Peoria. They were unable to fix it, so we decided to drive to Bloomington and get a second opinion. After some troubleshooting, Nybakke was able to fix it for us. They were very communicative and determined to fix our vacuum for us. It was definitely worth the drive to be able to get it repaired. Thank you!!!

My experience with Nybakke has been extremely disappointing. My husband & I stopped by to see what vacuums they had that were a better height for me. I am under 5 ft tall and my current vacuum was awkward for me to use. They showed us a cordless Riccar Roam which was shorter. The salesman told us how much better it was to buy from them because they were able to repair and stood behind their products. So, after spending $467.61 we excitedly took home our new vacuum. The vacuum seemed to work well but after 1 year it needed a new battery. You cannot order and install this yourself so it must be taken to the dealer. After 1 more year the same thing happened. My husband passed away, and dealing with this vacuum was set aside.A few weeks ago I finally took it to the store. This vacuum was only 4 yrs. old and they told me it was unrepairable, they couldn't get parts.So, this "quality" piece of equipment that they would "stand behind", as compared to something I could purchase at a discount department store for half the price, was now a piece of junk! When I went to pick it up there was no apology, no regret, just an offer to throw it out for me. I will never go back!

Very nice folks to work with and shop with. Needed a not for a 1970s era eureka vacuum sweeper. They sold me four different ones for a dollar. They worked great! Can't get a deal like that anywhere else!

I have been to Nybakke several times to repair components of our whole house vacuum system. They are always upfront about repairs needed and the cost, and don’t try to sell me on unnecessary repairs. They also have given me options for repairing versus replacement and I appreciate that. I HIGHLY recommend them!

I dropped off my vacuum to get the cord replaced because my dog had chewed through it. I also wanted a new roller because we had bought it used and it was worn.I was told that it should take about a week. After a week I had to call to see how things are were going. I was told they should be getting to it soon. A day later, I was called and told that my vacuum, a Dyson Animal, specifically made for pet hair on all surfaces was not meant for carpet. It works wonderful on carpet. I love my vacuum and it has worked perfectly on carpet. It picks up everything! I responded that I really didn’t have any other options to use on the carpet (I have no idea what I was suppose to do with that knowledge other than buy a vacuum from them?) It took a total of 3 1/2 weeks for them to repair it. I had to borrow a vacuum serveral times from a friend. I have 2 small children and a dog, so it was difficult to arrange this. When I went in to pay the bill, the cost was $30 more than they had originally quoted. I was told they would give me a call if it was over that amount, but I don’t remember being told it was over, only that I was not suppose to use the vacuum on carpet.I love local businesses and want to support them. However, I was disappointed with the service I received as well as the higher price than was originally quoted.

This place has been serving Bloomington-Normal for many many years. At Nybakke you get excellent American made products and they have real service! They repaired my vacuum that I thought was junk. They are not cheap but the repair they did on my 30 year old Kirby made it run like it was new!

The staff are always very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. They are not pushy, but there to help the customer. I always feel comfortable walking into their shop, and I know I will receive excellent service for my vacuum.

Horrible Customer Service! Called ahead to ask about replacing my brush bar. They had one in stock but sold it before I could make it into the store a week later - which was my fault. However, when I went into the store the person up front couldn't tell me what part I needed - he told me to go home and get the model #. Should have used my brain and asked how he knew what part it was over the phone but needed the model # now. But I was busy running errands (I ride the bus or get a taxi) OK - so I go home and get the model #. Called the store to give the model #, was put on hold for 5 minutes and then told I would have to pre-pay for any special order items. That would have meant another trip to the store. I tried to explain that I do not have a debit card and I had to get a ride because I do not have a car. Before I could even finish my sentence the man cut me off and yelled at me that he wasn't the one who waited on me. The man offered to order it anyway but he was very rude about it and even hung up on me before I could even finish my sentence to say thank you. I was so upset by the ordeal I got on my tablet - found and ordered the part I needed in 5 minutes and $10 cheaper. I called back to let them know I wouldn't be needing the part and of course I got the answering machine. I told them I was offended by the terrible customer service and would not do business there ever again. After all is said and done - why couldn't the employee help me find what I needed if they had already held a brush back for me. I even brought my old brush to the store with me to be sure I got the right one. Or why didn't the guy tell me to get the model # when I called? Maybe they didn't even hold one back - but then why lie. All I know is I won't be back and if you are reading this save yourself some time & money by looking up the parts and ordering yourself. :-)

I brought my Hoover in to be serviced and paid the $20.00 service fee. I explained that I would like for a clip to be repaired that releases the main handle from the power head.The service guy called me to explain that the problem was the vacuum was clogged with hair and it needed a new belt. He said the cost would be $79.00. The issue I had was he never mentioned repairing the clip. When I explained to him that I brought it in for the clip to be repaired he put me on hold and when he came back he told me it would be $110.00 for everything to be repaired and un-clogged or with my $20.00 credit from the bench check it would be $49.00 for just the clip repair.They were basically going to charge me like $79.00 to unclog my vacuum and put a new belt on it which seems kinda fair if you can't do it yourself. So anyhow I picked the vacuum up and brought it home and took it apart. Guess what? The power head really wasn't clogged like they said it was and the belt was absolutely fine. I disconnected the hose from the cannister and vacuumed it out (with my awesome new Shark vacuum) and she works like a champ! I ordered the part (clip) $19.00 and will repair it myself.In conclusion. The shop manager told me I had it wrong with how it was explained to me by his service guy. I gave him the benefit of the doubt (to prevent arguing with him) and then went home and checked my notes from my conversation with his service guy. It came to a total of $110.00 to unclog a "not-so clogged vacuum" and replace a belt that actually is in great shape! My family has been using Nybakke for over 40 years, I wonder how many times we really didn't need some of those repairs? Shameful.

The absolute best place to go to buy a new vacuum or Meile appliance. We have purchase various items from Nybakke over the years and you won't find better product knowledge along with service and support. With their on-site repair facility, this locally owned business is one you can count on.

Dropped by for a vacuum repair today. Have been in before. The salesman was with another customer, but no acknowledgement that I was there. Simple, "be right with you" would have been nice. Waited 10 minutes. Left. Poor way to run a small business.

I have bought vacuums from Nybakkes for 20 years. It is fantastic family owned business, and the family members all still work in the store. I like that they are very honest about what vacs will really do the job - they do not try to upsell. They also carry brands that the targets and walmarts do not carry, but are much higher rated, and are priced at the same level. Another thing that is missing from businesses these days is service - I have had Nybakkes repair vacs throughout the years, where motors finally give out or belts break, and within a day my vac is ready for pick up. Support a 75 year old family business like Nybakkes.

They know everything about vacuum sweepers. They can explain them, guarantee them, maintain them, fix them, sell them, and give great service. Not a cheap purchase at the time, but economical in the long run figuring in the expenses and hassles you would have had shopping for sweepers elsewhere.

My wife and I have done business with Nybakke Vacuum Shop for around 5 years. It is our opinion that they offer the BEST vacuum/carpet care products and the BEST service around the Bloomington/Normal area. Our church (Bloomington Baptist Church) also uses their products. Not only are their products FABULOUS, they are ONE OF THE MOST, if not the MOST, honest and reliable people anyone could ever ask for. I HIGHLY recommend anyone looking for a company that knows vacuums (individual units, as well as, whole house units) and carpet care to shop at NYBAKKE VACUUM SHOP.
