Though the animals aren't in the best environment, the staff is extremely kind and always willing to help! They strive to answer questions or be of aid in any way. The puppies here are all sooo cute and the staff seems to love them just as much as the next person! I wish they were in better condition, as do the staff I'm sure!

TO NO FAULT OF THE STAFF (who was very knowledgeable, kind, helpful, and hard working) this place is not up to standards. Already selling puppies that are from mills is enough, but the dogs should not be in small, overstocked glass cages STANDING ON WIRE. This is a lazy way to try and keep the cages “cleaner” whereas it actually creates more of a smell and teaches the puppies poor potty habits from the start. Please take better care of these sweet babies

The employees here are very helpful and polite. The only positive experience I had here was with the staff.Something I wish I knew before purchasing my yorkie is that - The dogs are not fecal tested before you bring them home which means there is a chance you may get a dog with a parasite infection which unfortunately happened to me…along with him being sick with respiratory issues within the first month. The AKC insurance only covers so much which didn’t include the illness that was found just after 21 days by my vet. Luckily we love our puppy and can afford the medical bills we’ve acquired since then.Won’t get another dog from any pet store, I’ll stick to a breeder next time. As a first time pet owner I was naive.

This place is gross! .... the people that work here are awsome ..... but every dog is over priced by 3x.... they told me that they leave the dogs in these little places until they r sold.... also they are from puppy mills.....which they try and make u feel special when u pay 7k for a dog they got for like 400 bux... they say th3y are from legit places but just get the actual info from where they were born it is a smoke and mirror.... I feel bad for the dogs in here cause they have no interaction once the store closes either.... what I would do is pay then boycott.... wetland is a joke.... not the employees ..... only the owners ... because the ones that work r not wise enough to understand

First time buying a dog from a pet store.Best experience, ever very friendly Staff Willing to work with you every step of the way. And when you buy a Puppy from them you get four hundred and fifty dollars worth of stuff for free It is such a shame that they only have one location that sells dogs and insists location. And they also give your pet AKC insurance too. I would like to see though a pet land that just sells cats. That would be interesting too. Hopefully soon they will be able to do that. Thank you, petland.

I can’t express enough how sad it was. They had dogs and mulitple dogs in the same cages. Cramped on top of each other. The dogs are drinking out of hamster watering jugs.. how are they suppose to get water from a water spout like that… also the golden retriever we saw was covered in poop… we couldn’t even play with it since it was covered in poop and smelled so badThe one employee in the back we saw her throw the puppy back in the cage..I feel so bad for all the puppies there. I wish I could save them all. I feel so bad the animals are not even being respected there or taking care of properly..

It is illegal to sell dogs at pet stores in IL for a very good reason, yet this store continues to do so. These ill-bred puppies come from puppy mills where dogs are kept in tiny cages with no regard for their health or comfort. Anyone who buys a puppy from a pet store is contributing to the abuse and neglect of dogs. Shame on this store, and shame on anyone who buys a puppy from a pet store instead of adopting or buying a dog from an ethical breeder.

This place is inhumane and horrible to all the animals there. Dirty and cramped. Some of the dogs eat their own poop which tells use they aren’t being fed enough. Idk why Batavia gets to dodge the no animals in petstores law but they really shouldn’t. So many of these animals are sick or get sick soon after being bought (bought not adopted, let’s not confuse those). Stop supporting this! The more dogs you buy from them the more dogs they buy from who knows where. If you want a puppy, shelters and rescues are full of puppies!

$4,000 for a puppy. Stay clear from this place. Tiny cages, no proper care, and their "warranty" is a joke. Go to a local shelter or a reliable breeder. Better yet, let's shed light on this hell hole so no animals have to suffer.

This location is much nicer then the one in Naperville and the dogs didnt look sick here. Plenty of staff was there willing to help if we needed it. Lots of cute pups to look at, plus kitties, bunnies, hamsters, ferrets, and much more. Yalls large bird was definitely a hit with our son. He loved the fact he kept saying hello. All in all we will definitely be back to this location over the Naperville one which is much closer to us. Thank you!

I have read alot of horrific posts on here regarding buying a puppy from Petland. I can't speak for all of them but I will say Petland in Batavia was a very happy positive experience!! All the dogs seemed to be in proper size window boxes/cages. Very well maintained too. Don't believe everything you read. I honestly can say because of the so many NEGATIVE comments... that encouraged me even more, to buy my puppy from here!! And so far so good 🙏❤️🐶 Regardless of puppy mills, breeders, etc...ALL these animals have a right to a good and loving life!!

Illinois has a new law prohibiting pet stores from selling puppies and kittens.. not sure how this place is still doing that. ADOPT OR SHOP RESPONSIBLY (pet stores get dogs from backyard breeders and puppy mills)

Petland_Bativia is a great store when you need specialized animal food, and treats, great place to buy and socialise with puppies,. Visited on 6th Jan and the staffs were incredibly friendly. With short staffed on that day, a very nice Lady in the store and a Young man were extremely welcoming and friendly. (Sorry for my Bad memory I dont have their names.) Great Professional Service.

My wife came here in hope of meeting and adopting a service animal in time. What we saw was so saddening and frankly, utterly disgusting of Petland. To start off, the dogs are crammed into small cages with wire flooring with multiple dogs that are way too big. They are banging into walls just trying to turn around. Thats not even the worst of it. Each and every cage was covered in dog poop, on the wiring, I’m their food/water bowls, on their blankets that I watched one dog sleeping on a poop covered blanket. All of this happening while an employee is lecturing a family about keeping an eye on the dogs if they are about to have an accident, as this can create bad habits. How about take your own “advice” and take care of your own animals you’re to sell! If you can’t, you might as well shut down your business and this is animal abuse. If anyone is looking for an animal, please avoid this place.

This pet store needs to be closed down all the bird cages water was disgusting I was there at 12pm no way did the birds did this since they opened it has been like that since yesterday if not longer they don’t clean and give them fresh water in the morning one of the birds looked sick… and one conure was so scared of people like he’s abused and the workers 2 girls were just standing around talking laughing and petting a Guinea pig terrible treatment of their animals! The least you can do is give them fresh water this is house diseases spread among birds no wonder why someone else said their bird died 2 days after purchase

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the recent experience I had with Petland when purchasing a puppy back in February. From the outset, we were excited to welcome a new addition to our family. However, our joy turned into distress when we brought the puppy home and discovered he was unwell. Despite adhering to all the stipulations outlined in the contract, our puppy’s health has not improved, and we find ourselves still grappling with this unfortunate situation. The “warranty” that accompanied the puppy appears to hold little value, as the promised reimbursements have been repeatedly delayed by the respective company. Consequently, we had no choice but to seek treatment from a more competent veterinary clinic to find answers and help for our beloved companion.Throughout this ordeal, attempts to seek assistance from Petland have yielded no response, leaving us feeling isolated and unsupported in dealing with our puppy’s health challenges. The negative stigma surrounding pet store purchases has become a stark reality for us, and we can’t help but wonder how many others have silently endured similar hardships after purchasing animals from Petland. At this point, I feel compelled to explore legal avenues to address this distressing situation. I believe it is essential to hold those responsible accountable for the pain and financial strain we have endured. Our intent is not only to seek justice for our own situation but also to raise awareness and prevent others from facing similar heartaches.

Appalling. Discriminatory. Abusive.I have nothing, and I mean nothing, but bad things to say about this pet store. My fiancée and I went in to look at dogs, as I am disabled, and wanted to find a puppy who could become a trained service dog in the future.First impressions are nothing but accurate here. The puppies are kept together, not spayed/neutered, without any gendered separation. They are also kept on wired floors that are not good for their paws, and within the first three minutes of being within the store, we watched one of their dogs (the one we went to see) a white German Shepherd pup have liquid diarrhea in the small “kennel” if you could call it that at all, and then proceed to eat it along with the other pups. It wasn’t until we mentioned it that a worker ran to try and stop them from eating their own poop.Once in one of the small cubicles with the puppy, we were then not left alone even in the slightest in order to interact with the puppy to get to know their personality. Then, when the puppy peed on the floor, and we actually needed the attention of this worker, they were nowhere to be found.Financing was asked about in the event we wanted to take home one of these pups, and I had a clipboard basically shoved down my throat. The worker kept coming back to ask about the paperwork before I had even gotten to read the German Shepherd’s paperwork and look at their pedigree much less getting to see his personality. We asked to switch out to a different dog, and I felt completely and utterly shamed when the dog (to no fault of her own) just wasn’t a good fit for us. She didn’t care that we were sitting right there, she wanted to play only with toys, and was more focused on Anthony, the worker, who was clearly just trying to make a sale on one of these dogs. Finally, the last dog we looked at was a sweet little Husky pup, who we absolutely fell in love with! She was sweet, smart, and extremely affectionate, despite peeing on the floor. She was a jumping bean, and so curious about everything. I would have brought her home in an absolute heartbeat had my dog and my brother gotten to meet her despite the fact that Anthony wanted to do nothing but talk down on her.He kept insisting we place a hold with him, or buy her outright, despite me telling him on a multitude of occasions that my dog and my brother NEEDED to meet any dog before I purchase them. I was not willing to spend $2,900 on this Husky pup, no matter what her pedigree, before the rest of my family got the chance to meet her. You just don’t bring a new dog into your current dog’s home, without knowing if the two would get along, especially after he told me multiple times that if I had to return the dog there would be a non-refundable $250 cash penalty.Common sense, please. There was one final dog we wanted to look at, seeing as we drove more than an hour to come see their dogs, however were unable to due to a rude comment made by one of the workers in the back behind the kennels that seemed to think we were not serious about buying. We were, in fact, quite serious about bringing home one of these dogs but, after seeing the prices of their dogs paired with how we (and the dogs) were treated, as well as the way they were kept, I could not justify giving them my business. We would give zero stars if we could.Anthony asked that we specifically mention his name when placing a hold, we're mentioning his name alright. Also that he decided to brag, to someone who is visibly and physically disabled that he could- and I quote- "easily bench press 250lbs."Anthony, your people skills leave much to be desired.Petland, do better, not all disabilities are visible. Even if they were, the way you kept those dogs was an atrocity.

Love spending time with puppies on a stressful day! Though, the prices for them are OUTRAGEOUS. Almost took home this little girl, but even with a discount she would have been 4k. 3 times the amount of the breeder my husband and I picked out. Ridiculous.

The puppy I looked at had balding patches all over his face and muzzle as well as scratch marks. He also had umbilical hernia. He was over 5 months old, and still sitting in those tiny cages for several months. When i pointed out my observations to my sales rep, she ran for her manager although i did not request fir one. The manager was a young lady, all as she was an employee of some expansive law firm, not a pet store. It looked like she had never touched a puppy. There was not a single dog hair on her. She immediately denied everything I was concerned about. She also said that umbilical hernia is a normal thing in many puppies. I could not believe what kind of BS was coming out of her mouth !! She had absolutely no compassion to that puppy. She would not even touch the puppy to take a close look at him. Her sole goal was to convince me that there is nothing wrong with the dog, and to make that sale. The store was not busy. I was the only customer there. Bunch of employees were casually socializing with each other, while they could attend these desperate dogs, locked in tiny cages for weeks and months waiting for someone to take them away.Alexandra B.

Paid over $700 For a chihuahua/pomeranian mix. I love animals, but this worthless dog must have been mentally impaired. Couldn't teach it anything. Ended up giving it away to family who still couldn't housebreak him. Still $#!+$ in their house - 🤦‍♀️ - Paid $90 to adopt a purebred American Eskimo from the Aurora Animal Shelter. He ended up being the best dog I ever owned.

Well 1st of all I want to say that my husband and I bought a beautiful female lhasa apso in 2016. She is sooo, soooo smart and we love her to pieces. We named her Emma. This year we decided to buy Emma a friend . Since we had such a wonderful experience with her we decided to go back to this Petland. We purchased a female Jack Russell. When we took her to the clinic for her check up the vet told us she had an ear infection and ear mites. Had to buy meds. We took them her fecal sample and that came back that she has an intestinal parasite. Spent some money. We have spent over $300.00 and we've only had her 3 weeks. We love her to pieces and we will get her healthy, but I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS PETLAND AGAIN.

id like to start off with first they have gotten rid of the birds minus a cockatoo which i assume is the owners bird and i have owned a cockatiel for 3 years and have became very knowledgeable with.the birds that were here before (prior to being removed) were in boxes with a small glass pane that went to the top about table height for an adult, but low enough for children to see through and the birds standing at there height. the birds were in a box and didn't have proper food or water, it was very dirty. the birds had basic sticks which first off was an issue for birds feet which aren't mean to be on flat or perfectly round surfaces.the birds were unable to really do anything, they just sat there and its really terrible after you know how to take care of a bird and see them in this condition. Please DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE OR RETAIL PET STORES IN GENERAL!!!!! please get a bird from 'Bird is the Word' not to far from here and just by the river, they know a LOT about birds and know how to take very good care of them, unlike the staff at pet land who know absolutely nothing about birds except how to feed them. its very sad and please do not buy from them., birds are abused, Bird is the Word is a much better store and despite their prices, its worth it. plus the bird is tamed and trust humans unlike petland who just abuse birds.seriously, its not cool. its sad and abusive.

My family went in to Petland to look for a leash for our dog. While we were there, we decided to check out their puppies that they had. We have been in the market for a puppy after losing one of our dogs a few months ago. What we saw was absolutely NOT acceptable. Any animal lover would NEVER be OK with buying a puppy from here and supporting such a deplorable and filthy place.First of all, there were several employees in the store (probably 4-5). We visited in the late afternoon, and there was only one other customer in the store, so they were not busy. I would like to point out that the employees were very kind and were interested in helping us, but they weren’t actually “working” besides when they would come over and answer our questions. Besides that, they were standing in the middle of the store at the desk and chatting. I am not one who cares about employees standing around, because I usually prefer to shop without being bothered, but the employees definitely had a reason to be busy. They were clearly not doing a major part of their job, which is to keep the puppies healthy and make sure that their environment is clean. What we saw in this store was just beyond unacceptable. There were 2-3 puppies in each cage. Some of the cages are larger, but there were 2-3 puppies shoved in a 3x3 cage. There were feces in every single cage. The puppies were stepping on their feces and you could tell that the dogs were filthy. Do these people know what happens to dogs that are kept in cages with their own feces and urine? They develop open sores on their little paws and get infections. How do these people not care? Where are the managers? Where is corporate? That is extremely disturbing and borderline neglect. If officials came into this store, they would without a doubt be cited for these conditions. There are so many reviews on this particular location that explain the poor health of puppies that people have purchased. PLEASE listen to these reviews. They are not wrong. How can you expect a puppy to be healthy when they are literally living in their own fences and urine? You can expect infections and parasites. We decided to ask an employee to take a dog out of the cage and play with it because we felt so bad for it. When the girl got the dog out of the cage, she immediately put it on the table in the back to clean off his paws, hoping we wouldn’t notice how filthy his paws were after living in that 3x3 cage with another dog. She then placed the dog in a booth for us to play with him and grabbed toys for us to play with. She then tells us that this dog might not know how to play because he probably hasn’t played with people and hasn’t been socialized. WHAT???? Mind you, this puppy was already 9 weeks old. That is an essential part of a puppy’s upbringing, especially during their first 8 weeks. The owners of Petland buy puppy mill dogs for a very little amount and then sell them for a ridiculous price. A dog that costs $1,500 a reputable, registered breeder would sell for about $4,500 here. You are taking the risk of buying an extremely expensive puppy who could be very sick and have quite a few of psychological problems due to lack of socialization and spending weeks in a small cage. You could end up paying thousands more for medical bills. If you are in the market for a puppy, please research reputable breeders or even check shelters. At least you will know that these puppies have been vet checked and have all of their age appropriate vaccinations. Please do your research on Petland before supporting them. There are many articles posted about the conditions seen at these stores. You are only supporting puppy mills and allowing this place to keep running despite their inhumane treatment of sweet puppies. I know that some people think that they are “rescuing” these dogs from this horrible place when they buy them, but they are only adding to the demand for these puppies. This place has been open for many many years and it is time for them to shut down. Save your money and buy from a reputable breeder.

The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. I was able to see 3 new puppies English bulldog, Golden retriever and Great Pyrenees/blue healer mix. I decide to choose English bulldog, Maddie made the process super simple she was knowledgeable and though my dog should meet the new dog in the store. Thank you again for finding my fur baby.
