This store is wonderful. The staff is polite, conversational and are always on the move. I can get in, get what I want, and get out without a single hassle. My only true gripe with the store is the selective lack of certain items, and while that's no ill will upon the employees themselves, it's very convenient when said items can only be obtained 30-45 minutes further away. All in all a great place to do some light grocery shopping or pick up some essentials, because you'll do it fast and you'll do it well.

I've been in the Ava DG hundreds of times. Every time I've been there, the store is always clean and tidy. All the employees are very friendly and helpful. Rob is a great guy all around.

The register here moves faster than any other dollar general I've. At the speed of still, that's not the hardest race to win. Bought some yoga/toning equipped here at 50%. Deals most times I stop by.

The store is close to home, but they're getting as bad as Walmart. There is 3 in of snow and ice on the ground and they have no salt for the sidewalks, but they have Easter and spring things filling the the shelves.. stores need to start carrying what's needed when it's needed not 3 months in advance!!!

Always find awesome idea's for way cheaper price's than other stores I'm a BIG shopping fanatic love saving money for holiday"s and I do alot of art's@craft's and home decor.. Plus fashion .so definitely a winner for me💞😁❤😜

I don't understand how two dollar generals stores less than 5 miles apart prices vary so much.for instant banquet mega bowl buffalo chicken and Mac and cheese 225 in Murphysboro I'll and same product in Ava I'll 300 these town's are only a few miles apart. I would like to hear an explanation.i noticed other products as well.confused

Before today I have always had a good experiences at this store but today was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in any store!!Hey I normally don't do this and am very understanding of things but I just had the worst customer service in ever ! Ava IL store ! I just spent almost 70 dollars and asked the cashier about a sale on a phone that is In the weekly add and she said it was her first week give her a second and she would go ask her boss I said that's fine so she checked out the next person behind me and I was fine with that even though I had ice cream that I just paid for in cart ! She left register and was gone for about 3 or 4 mins ! Comes back up and looks at the guy behind me and says I can help you here acted like I wasn't waiting on her for a answer and acted like I wasn't standing there ! I asked her politely if she found out anyone she says yeah I said ok what? She then tells me they told her they didn't know and she couldn't scan it to find out because she doesn't have the manager code ! I said that is what your boss is for she tells me that If I want she will ring it out and I can pay for it and if its not right to bring it back with the recipe tomorrow to get money back ! I kept my cool and said this is crazy and I was going to contact management! She says this is my first week I said I understand that but you have a boss here that should have came up here a long time ago in my eyes! I took the things I had already paid for and left! This was all in front of other customers! If they didn't know that's ok really but to act like I am not standing there waiting on her and she just try's to go to the next person in line and for the other employee to not come up and try anything is crazy I am just in shock people can treat paying cupboard this way !

So happy Dollar General is popping up in small towns. You can tell when they're probably overdue for a shipment though. The shelves are bare at times.
