We have used this groomer shop for 15plus years. I had placed a positive review last year but just removed it.I always hesitate before being negative to a business. However this is a matter of animal abuse and cruelty to my dog.Kizzy is an aging Old English Sheepdog. Melissa at Barker Shoppe groomed her for years. Melissa is no longer working there. We met a new groomer introduced by Peg the shop owner. When we came to pick up Kizzy a bump on her back had been shaved and lanced. This lump was being watched by our vet the last few years. It was benign so the Vet decided it should be left alone because surgery wasn't appropriate at her age. However Peggy the owner decided along with the groomer that they should shave and lance the bump with no anesthesia or pain meds. They ARE NOT VETS.We took Kizzy to the Vet the next day where she had it cleaned out for infection and was given oral antibiotics and other treatments. The Vet and her staff made us aware that the person opening Kizzys bump at the groomer actually did something illegal. They said they should never be allowed to groom another dog.When I called the owner to tell her how upsetting this had all been and what our Vet said her reply was that she had done this herself and would do it again to any dog. That it was "a hot spot" ( not) and they do this all the timeThen she hung up on meDon't endanger your animals at this shop.My dog is sadly paying a high price.Also note: this is the next day after the Vet surgically shaved and cleaned out the infection.

Pros: Dogs are allowed to roam and aren’t kept in cages. Our 6 month old puppy was very, very happy to be there.Cons: The haircut has been ridiculously ugly two times in a row. The first time I brought her back to fix it…they tried, but it still looked like a toupee. The second time, I explicitly asked for the same length all over and showed a picture of what I wanted, yet somehow she had bangs again and was trimmed on her face to look like she had bags under her eyes, in addition to an oddly shaped “mustache”. I asked them to fix it while I was still there, and the groomer acted very irritated.I’m glad others had great experiences here, but maybe it’s just not the right place for a golden doodle.

I was very impressed, very knowledgeable, caring and clean. So many varieties of dog in the shop at one time. Which tells me they are very busy and popular.

We have a 16 year old sheltie. The staff was excellent in their care of an older dog. They are kind and gentle. Our dog will now be comfortable for the summer.

Brought my 5 month old cockapoo in today for grooming, and a young groomer took such great care of her. She looks perfect with her new do! A wonderful shop, which I will return to for future grooming needs!

Spot on with the 1st 2 groomings. Pepino comes home a happy boy after his visit with his grooming friends and furry friends. Great friendly staff, and lots of puppy love for your fur baby!! Hope they can fit you all in. They get pretty busy and with good reason!!

I love this place, my dog is a rescue and has huge fear of getting her nails cut from whatever she previously. However, because we can drop by on a good day for her to the Barker Shoppe, just pop in and they get it done and over so fast! They also do the nicest thing, they don’t get her on a table or hold her by her head, instead - one person hugs her while the other trims her nails on the ground. This place is amazing. 10 stars if I could.

Always take us on, even with tough doggies. It smells like incense and feels like a fair price for how great my pups’ fur feels when I pick them up.

They are always able to get my dog tanner in and he is always excited to go! Tanner has always had issue with chewing his nails and licking his paws and they gave me great recommendations for products to help! Everyone is so welcoming and kind, especially Morgan and shanna! highly recommend!

I have 2 dogs I bring in there & I never worry when I drop them off that they will be well taken care of! The entire staff is friendly & always welcoming! I love that they are free to roam around with the other dogs & not created.

The staff at The Barker Shoppe is amazing. We have a rescue (Koda) and from day one, they've taken such amazing care of her. Koda's a German Shepherd Border Collie mix, shy when she gets in there but the greetings and love shown from the team towards her make her relax and she is always wagging and happy once I pick her up looking amazing. I recommend them to everyone I know.

They keep your dog all day. I have a small dog. They take her in at 930 and keep her till closing. Why take them so early. ? This is the last time I will take her there.
