Everyone there is so kind and so great with my dogs! I have a dog who has stranger danger, and new doggie danger. They have worked with him for four months and he’s getting better every time he goes! He’s made it to daycare. I’m so happy. And he passed out when he got home from a full day. Highly recommended!

Shag Bark is amazing! We are so happy with their service. We adopted a dog with social anxiety, and after bringing her to Shag Bark, we have seen improvements in her being left alone. They make sure to post lots of pics for their daycare , and are super fast with pickups and drop offs. We just used their boarding and our dog was well taken care of so we could have a stress free vacation. They have improved our dogs life and ours. Highly recommend!

This was our first time boarding our German Shepard at Shag Bark and from day one the staff was helpful, informative and reassuring! They took great care of our girl for over a week. I would email and call for updates and they always responded and were very kindhearted. I would highly recommend Shag Bark for all your fur baby needs! Thank you to the wonderful staff you all made our trip to Malta more enjoyable!

We took our 3 yr old Bernedoodle here for the first time for grooming. Must say very impressed with everyone from start to finish. Never had to step out of the car, they had someone come to you, groomer came out and explained all steps, likes/dislikes, explained add on services. Our sweet Belle came out looking great and smelling so fresh and so clean clean! Even had a hand written note from the groomer, which I thought was a nice touch! We found our forever groomer!!

We use Shag Bark for grooming, lodging and daycare! The dogs always come home smelling fresh and clean after grooming! The groomers always do an amazing job. Our dogs wait at the door every morning to go play with their friends. The owners and staff care tremendously for each and every dog. They even recognize us and know the dogs by name. The facility is clean and friendly. I highly recommend Shag Bark to everyone!

This is the best place to bring your pet if you are in Illinois. The entire staff consist of great people who truly care for everyone’s pets. Our Aussie was there this past week. Our daughter was very upset when she realized he would not be with us on his birthday. Shag Bark threw him a party and sent awesome photos to us. It made our daughters week seeing him so happy and celebrated. We only use Shag Bark for this reason. Great people and great facility!

I took my old dog Bo here to be groomed and they did a fantastic job. They were very careful with his list of “issue areas” and didn’t do anything he wasn’t comfortable with. They did a great job monitoring his behavior and energy level throughout his groom. It can be very difficult to find someone that goes slow and careful with him at his age. He was very happy and cared for.

Our dog Tucker did so well at Shag Bark! I was nervous to drop him off for the first time and so was Tucker. The staff is so nice, comforting, great with our dog and reassuring. Tucker ended up loving his time there and got out so much energy. They even called me mid morning with an update which made me feel so much more relaxed and happy!

I take my dog a 9 month old puppy to Shagbark for doggie daycare 1-2 days a week and he seems to enjoy it!! Bonus that they will cut his nails or give him a bath if I request it while dropping off (for an additional charge).I haven't had any problems so far and have recommended them to others.

We boarded our 1 year old rescue Finn for a week and were nervous as we had not boarded him yet. There was no need as he was so well taken care of and had lots of activities. The staff were very nice with all of my questions - the reservation process went very smoothly as well. Will definitely use them again!!

We kenneled our two Golden's at Shag Bark, this past week. They had a WONDERFUL time. It took a couple days for them to acclimate themselves, but being Golden's, they were all in!!! They had a tremendous time. Playing, exercising, making new human and dog friends!!! Every day, Shag bark posted pics, and we went through all of the pics to see how all the guest were doing!!! Two of our previous Golden's had stayed at Shag Bark, Critter and Cody. Brian, the owner, enjoyed Cody so much, he brought him to their home to play with his children. That says a lot!!! Will kennel with them again and have recommended them to several dog owners!

We love Shag Bark!! Just recently picked our dog up from a boarding stay — They take such good care of our Mickey and I can tell they love him (even though he can be a lot)!! We are so lucky to have Shag Bark to send him to for both daycare and boarding! Love this local business!! Every single person I’ve interacted with there couldn’t be nicer, I feel so at peace leaving him there when we go on trips.

Rosco enjoys his home away fromhome. For a dog with a lot of attitude, he usually gets treated with the “discovery pup” package. He gets daily walks, play time, couch and cuddles, and lots of love! He comes back tired in the best way, and always extra handsome! Shout out to Emily for being an incredible groomer and taking care of my fluffy boy. Everyone at Shagbark is so nice! Reasonable pricing and amazing service.We’ve done puppy/STAR training here too with Franzi which instilled so much confidence in me as being a first time dog owner. Our loyalty lies in Shagbark!

We have taken Scout to Shagbark fairly consistently since he was just a puppy- almost 8 years ago now. He did all of his puppy training there and we continue to utilize them for Daycare and Boarding.He LOVES going to Daycare to see his friends, run around the playground, climb ramps and stand on tables :) I am able to check in on him throughout the day on their FB page where they share tons of photos of all the dogs having a blast.When we leave town we feel very comfortable leaving Scout at Shagbark knowing he is safe and well cared for.The staff is very friendly and they seem to know every dog well. I have no idea how they can tell all of the black dogs apart but they can!-Allie, Jay and Scout O'Connor

Brittany called me and i feel 100% better. She took the time to explain thoroughly the entire play day and again, feel much better and will be bringing our pup to shagbark again. Thank you Brittany. Right now we give Shagbark a 3 due to the fact we cannot get thru to a person with our concerns. We brought our 15 month old pup for an evaluation and play day and she is not the same dog. We are very concerned and until we can talk to a manager, we won't go into details. Will post again about our experience and will hopefully shed some light after our conversation with Shagbark.

I had a sudden job position change, which has caused me to put my dog in boarding for the last 3 weekends in a row. Shagbark has been an absolute pleasure! My dog comes home happy and tired. They post daily photos on their Facebook page, so you can see your fur babies playing with their little fur friends on a daily basis. They even send you home with a little “report card” letting you know how pup was for their time at camp. There’s really no other place I’d trust to bring my pup!

This was our dachshund, Otis' 2nd stay at Shag Bark. This time he stayed for a month. He came home happy, lively, playful, and as friendly as always! And especially important, he came home healthy - a shiny coat and no weight change!

The staff all seems very nice. The system they have for pick up and drop off is efficient. The cost is average-slightly above average for dog care. I feel my dog is in good hands. I am giving 4 stars because 4/5 times I call no one answers, I leave a message, and I still have to call again 2-3 times to get ahold of someone instead of them calling me back.

My Gus had a fantastic time here at Shag Bark! The people were extremely friendly and helpful, and the staff did an amazing job. Gus takes a lot of specialized care. I appreciate feeling comfortable leaving my guy here. He waits at the door to go back and see his friends!

Always a happy puppy when she visits Shag Bark Pet Spa & Kennel. Services range from day care to boarding for extended stays. Friendly staff and nice facilities. A big paws up from my pup!Post-pandemic some of the rules have changed but still a great place to take your dog for boarding, grooming, or a daycare break!
