Refused to sell alcohol to me because I look too young. Showed them two different types of ID (license and credit card). Offered to show more and they refused. Don’t recommend, weirdest experience I’ve ever had purchasing liquor

For a Local Grocery Store, this one is a Gem. Sam has really done an excellent job of providing a variety of the essentials and a whole lot more. While food is a bit more pricey than a major chain grocer, for convenience and for the essentials, we stop here regularly. Liquor prices are reasonable (on the liquor store side) and the Deli is a regular go to for lunches. The Subs are Large, Fresh, and reasonably priced! Blows the chain places out of the water!

Let me tell you! Went in for groceries and was surprised to see the deli has a subway like restaurant. The subs are huge! So delicious, the bread was thick, hearty and fresh.The guy running the place,had me try the chimmi churi sauce, I have a new favorite. What a nice dude too. I had the cheesy broccoli soup❤️so damn good! The cheesy garlic bread,the size of a pizza! The best part of all of this is....we thought he rang us up wrong, he didn't! Everything was so reasonably priced and large portions. We took home leftovers! So yes, I highly recommend this grocery store/restaurant! Also all the employees were friendly and helpful. That's a bonus ⭐

Wow! The deli area is awesome! 🍞 You can pick up sub sandwiches🥪, pizza🍕, burgers🍔, even breakfast items! 🍳🥓 I went to check out the roast for the holidays and they cut it to what I needed, 10 lbs. Really nice people. Very helpful. Love coming here.👍👍👍👍👍 Grocery items are on the pricey side but it's close.

Great selection for such a small town, and prices cheaper than stores that are not as close to Woodhaven Lakes…staff was very friendly and had smiles on their face which is rare these days..! Just one suggestion, please expand your vegetarian burger and breakfast items, but glad you had what you did…coming from florida I would think this area would be supporting more plant based food!? Thanks..!!

We spend half our year at Woodhaven Lakes, near Amboy...I feel it my responsibility to support local businesses. The owners and staff are lovely people. The prices reasonable, unlike most of the grocery stores near other resorts. Meat is priced as high as anywhere else.Overall I give Amboy Food and Liquors a 5 out of 5. Don't forget to order a freshly baked pizza before you shop.Hot and ready to go when you are. The deli sandwiches are a great value to share for two!

I came in for baby carrots to put in vegetable soup I was making. I checked their ad before I came & looked for blueberries, which stated they were 2 for $5.00; but gave no size. What they had were 6-oz containers, only; I wasn't going to pay that for only 12 ozs, so they stayed in the cooler!! If you don't know prices in bigger stores, you will overpay on some items, compared to larger stores.Spent a little time browsing and found a 6-pack of Diet Rite Cola for $4.99! Pleasantly surprised that they carried this soda! Staff is always busy, but friendly.

We were camping in the area and rather than take a 40 min drive to Wal-Mart, this little store was 15 mins away and was well stocked with everything and anything we would need.

The owners are some of the nicest people we've ever met. They came up and helped bag, and happily without asking posted the cart out and helped load. The store is small but had a great selection of food, office supplies, kids toys/outdoor fun and beer and liquor.

This place is the best little grocery store around. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They have a great assortment of items. From ingredients to cook with to snack foods to puff pastry to a great wine and liquor section. They have a walk in beer cooler and a huge deli that they just added. They aim to please and they truly hit the mark.

Amboy used to have another grocery store that was a complete pit. So, I did not have high expectations for this place. WOW! Was I impressed. The place is spotless, the prices are reasonable, and for a small town (very small) grocery store, the selection was not bad. Their liquor section is very comprehensive. Great wine choice and top shelf brands. Good job!

People are so friendly here I always stop when at Woodhaven. Reasonably priced they usually have what I'm looking for. I wish they would list ingredients on salads. You have to hold the container up and guess if green pieces are celery or pickle.

Decent grocery store that has a a very basic selection. The pricing did seem a bit high but considering they are the only grocery store withing 20 miles, seems fair. They have a subway type restaurant with fresh select of meats and veggies. Recommend, mostly for the convenience

Such a great store. Prices are fabulous for a small food and liquor store. Beats driving to Dixon. The staff is friendly and the owner Tommy and family are a class act. Liquor department rocks. Highly recommend and you're supporting local. Nice job Amboy Food and Liquor.

They have about everything you could possibly need! Service is excellent and the deli addition is a real added bonus! Rotisserie chicken, homemade pizza, deli meats and cheeses, and gigantic sub sandwiches made to order! A real treasure of a store. You can also purchase meat from country village meats. Full liquor/wine/beer selections. Amboy is certainly lucky to have this gem of a store! Shop local!!!!!

This is the closest grocery store to O'Connell Yogi Bear Campground. They have a deli and fresh meat market. For a small town grocery store there is pretty much everything you need.

I have lived in Amboy for over a year now, I love having a store in town to get necessary items. Unfortunately the last few times I bought frozen meat it was spoiled. I just had to throw out over $30 of ground beef and chicken. Their produce is always rotten too. There is mold on the peaches etc... Be careful when shopping there.
