Celeste- Nastiest manager you could imagine. Thanks to Celeste at Home Depot Alton I will never be stepping foot in that store ever again. We just did a 4,000$ house purchase too and I regret every penny spent. Home Depot needs to work on better customer service and making a customer feel like a respected human!! Nasty attitude horrible approach! Wow wow wow.

Absolutely horrible customer service. I was never greeted by anyone when entering or leaving the store. I walked around looking for what I needed for about 10 minutes, walking by multiple emplayees standing around not talking to customers, a couple on their phones or talking to each other. Their self checkout isles are down, and that would be ok, if it’s not a Saturday morning and they only have two isles open. No tap to pay is offered at this store, and will refuse manual card entry. I politely asked if I might be able to pay for my two items by entering the card manually, I was flat out told “No.”, after which the employee turned around, cancelled the purchase and didn’t say another word to me. A lady in glasses at the checkout counter. Lowe’s is right across the street and Harbor Freight is just up the road. Save your time(and money,as well, probably).

I went in for lumber in September. I wanted it custom cut. There saw was broken. Middle December it is still broken. That is unacceptable. I was told that if the manager would get off his a$$ it could be fixed in less than a week.

Scheduled a auger rental appointment. Waited a week for the tool to be available. Arrived to pick it up and was offered a post hole digger instead. The rental “professional “ wanted to argue that it was what was reserved instead of solving a very minor problem. We left without the necessary tool although it was sitting in the tool coral and won’t be using Homedepot anymore. Mistakes are common. Having the critical thinking skills to overcome mistakes not at this store…..

It takes 1 second to acknowledge a customer if you are busy. Why is that such a hard concept for people to grasp. They just find it easier to ignore you instead. Then get loud with me cause I say something. I'm no Karen, I just worked with the public most of my life and found it to be good manners to let people know you see them . The girls at the desk need to get it together.

Edited with new information:Dropped by an additional star. A few days ago the brand new dishwasher that we had gotten installed the same day as the refrigerator flooded our kitchen. We tried calling in and were redirected to a Home Depot repair line who told us that they don't send teams out to inspect issues with install and the best they could offer was to sell me a replacement part once we figured out the cause of the flooding. We called again to the store and we were told that we should've still been under warranty and that we'd have to call the manufacturer directly. We didn't have that kind of time, given that our kitchen was flooding faster than we could dry it up. We called an emergency plumber who came out and inspected the issue. Turned out the Home Depot installers didn't include a required rubber washer onto the water line connection so the water line was pouring water out. We put a rubber washer on it and the problem was fixed and hasn't leaked again since. We wouldn't have had this issue if the dishwasher water line had been installed correctly.-My brand new refrigerator was about $3,700 and arrived with three dents, one with damage to the stainless steel gloss. We were put in a difficult situation and told that the only options were to either accept it as is with the dent with no discount for the damaged product, wait an indefinite amount of time for a brand new fridge to be delivered and set up a new install date (which doesn't work since we already moved out our old fridge ourselves yesterday since the sales rep forgot to add the old appliance haul away into the fridge delivery request) and even at that they couldn't guarantee the next fridge would be perfect either since the drivers said every fridge they delivered today had dents, or to request a replacement door but that the issue with doing so was that replacement doors couldn't be requested by color so our black stainless fridge could end up with a single regular silver stainless door, which looks a lot worse than just a dent. So we had to accept it as is, which means our brand new fridge is damaged on day one and we've been given no real option to seek compensation or a fix if we want a fridge in our kitchen for the next who-knows-how-long. Then, during install, they scratched up the side of the fridge along the cabinet. What gets me the most is that originally we had planned to buy the fridge store model because it was 20% off, but they refused to deliver it and install it for us because "they don't deliver store models" and we had no way of transporting the fridge to our house. At this point maybe we should've just gotten a U-Haul rental and moved the 20% off store model ourselves. If we're getting damaged "brand new" product anyway it would've been nice to get the discount we wanted out of it.

And at the kitchen department is very unprofessional was rude . We were going to use Home Depot for the kitchen but now we’re gonna go with another company just because the lack of communication and the way they treat the customers disrespectfully unprofessionally and very rude.

Greg Ellette in Millwork at the Alton Home Depot is seriously the best! We are a general contractor and use him for large door and window orders. It's with a heavy heart that I write this review for Home Depot, as my experience over the past year has been nothing short of a nightmare. My family and I have spent nearly $30,000 at this store, and the troubles we've encountered have left us utterly frustrated.Our first issue arose when we tried to order appliances online using gift cards. To our dismay, Home Depot charged us double the amount, and resolving the situation proved to be an ordeal that took far too long. When our appliances were finally delivered, we discovered that they had sent us an electric range instead of the gas range we had specifically requested. This led to another couple weeks of waiting for the correct appliance to arrive.Our next endeavor was to have two custom doors ordered and installed by Home Depot. Unfortunately, this process was riddled with problems. Firstly, Home Depot failed to pay the contractor for both doors, which resulted in only one door being installed. To make matters worse, when the contractor arrived to install the back door, we discovered that it wasn't even the correct door. Now, we find ourselves waiting for a call from Customer Order Specialist (COS) to sort out this fiasco.Throughout this entire experience, we have been let down by Home Depot's lack of organization, poor communication, and unfulfilled promises. I sincerely hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for others who may be considering making large purchases from this store. Until significant improvements are made, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Home Depot for any major home improvement projects.

THIS STORE DISCRIMINATES AGAINST FAMLIES WITH DISABLED CHILDREN 😳This store does not have a Caroline’s cart. For those of you that may not be familiar with this type of cart. It is a cart made to help disabled children travel throughout the store safely. It is not motorized and has a 5 point harness to ensure safety.Many Home Depot’s have these carts they are a supporter of the Caroline cart.I have a disabled child and asked the store if they had one, they did not. I told them what it was and spoke with the manager Mary. She stated that she thought it would be a great addition to the store and thought many customers could use this.I explained that it’s safer for kids than sitting in the back of the cart when they out grow the top of the cart.It’s also used for adults with disabilities not just children.Let me just say yes they have motorized carts, however some disabled people can’t use the controls , so the Caroline cart is a great safe alternative.I followed up a week later with several calls. Nobody returned my call. I called again and was unable to reach Mary the manager for the third time. Phillip stated he was one of the managers and stated that they did discuss the cart in a meeting and at this time it’s bout corporate not paying for the cart.This seemed unlikely to me so I called corporate and spoke with customer service on 1/26/23 the woman stated that absolutely not, corporate would not have stated that. She said she would call me back within 48 hours. No call back after a week I called and I was told by a customer service man named Louis that he would have the store manager reach out to me. He also said if the manager said no to the cart then that’s where it stands.I told him that it’s a safety issue. The hold message for Home Depot states” Do not let kids ride in the back of carts as it is unsafe. Home Depot cares about the safety of its customers and the next generation. “🤔 I thought how ironic is this message considering the safety of its disabled isn’t important.Alton LOWES does have a cart, as well as Target, and Walmart.I closed my Home Depot Account today. I encourage other family's that have disabled children or adults to voice your opinion and have a voice for those that may not. My child is nonverbal autistic and I am her voice.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Possibly, i didn't explain myself more clearly yet thought this person was a bit unorganized or my situation was too unique?! I have to interact with that person again, or her department. We'll see.

I am Absolutely disgusted with the service I’ve received in the last 3 months! I would give them zero stars if I could.I went in at the beginning of May to start our kitchen cabinets and countertops project. I fully expected 1-2 weeks for them to come measure my kitchen, put together a layout and price, finalize and order them. I started off working with Brandon, and was soon moved over to Kari for our project after a couple of weeks. Brandon had left and Kari took over my project. After Eric (installer) came out to do the first measurement, there was absolutely zero communication with me by phone, and Kari telling me she had sent me emails with the info (which I never received). I finally had enough and went into the store myself after 2 months of trying to simply get a price nailed down and a final layout. I wanted to try and talk to someone face to face. Of course, no one was available to assist me, and “someone would call me in the next 15-20 minutes”. Days went by and I never heard from anyone, so I called again and tried to get more answers. FINALLY after another month of fighting with Kari back and forth trying to get the layout corrected (a lot of missing info and incorrect parts and pieces) I was told they would be doing the finale measurements in preparation for getting them ordered. 4 weeks after Eric scheduled to come out, I finally heard back to go do the finalization and pay/order them.Today I went in, went over all the finalized info. I wrote out the check and went to the front to pay. After running my check and taking my drivers license, they were unable to process my payment because my address on my check didn’t match my drivers license (we literally JUST moved from out of state and there was nothing I could do). Instead of asking for a manager to help, Kari just told me they can’t take my payment. So I promptly left and let them know I was going to take my business elsewhere.I then went across the street to lowes, where I was very well taken care of. I showed the guy all our measurements from Home Depot for the kitchen layout that they had done, and he immediately found 2 major errors in their measurements which compromised the entire lower cabinets. Needless to say I won’t ever be shopping with Home Depot again. Do better!!

Bought a stove/oven and a dishwasher. Paid for installation for both. I removed old dishwasher to make sure the water shut-off valve was in good working order and disconnected. Installers lied to my wife and told her the water shut-off valve was leaking so they couldn't install the dishwasher. When I got home there was absolutely nothing wrong with the shut off valve and I did the install myself. If Home Depot is going to use contractors for installations like this, make sure they aren't lazy or liars. Now I no longer trust Home Depot to provide an honest contractor for simple installations. In conclusion, I will no longer spend money at Home Depot or through their website. I guess Lowes or RP lumber will get to make some money off the $20k remodeling job for the house I just purchased.
