Very enjoyable dinner. They offered two specials, a Gourmet Chef menu and the regular menu of salads and soup miscellaneous sandwiches casual food. I sat in the bar and had the fish special shown here and a very nice cab that was paired with my pork loin dinner. They also have a nice dining area inside and a garden area. Why am I telling you this....I don't know because I'd love to keep this my little secret, but you might enjoy it too. ;)Vegetarian options: Soup some salads and sandwich

Review #2, and it's just as great and even better than the 1st. This beautiful, amazing little restaurant is hands down the best place in Alton, IL, and the surrounding area. On Valentines Day, they offered a five course romantic reservation, only dinner experience. They offered 2 time slots 530 and 730 due to working and living an hr away. We chose the 730 and are glad we did. So the week and day prior, I was in contact with Terri and Melanie, asking questions out of excitement and wanting to elevate the experience even more for my lovely wife, and wow, did they help.I tried calling j g a few places to have flowers delivered, but all were took booked up, so I asked Melanie if she had any recommendations of anyone else. She did, but instead, she told me to order some andnshe would personally pick them up on her way to work. I was astonished. I wanted to turn down her offer, but I accepted. So that night, we got to get dressed up and head down to the restaurant Gem of Alton, IL "State Street. " When we got there, we were invited into the bar for beverages prior to seating. I had a whiskey on the rocks smoked, and the wife had their special valentines Day martini. Both drinks were great. At 7:25, they began seating. They escorted us to the table they had set up with the flowers Melanie, our server, and the hostess picked up for me sitting out. The wife asked, "Why are we the only table with a beautifully displayed vase of roses?" We sit down, and she sees the card in it with her name on it. Surprised and speechless asked, " How nm thank you."They quickly started the course menu of our selections.Amuse Bouvhe " beet brined develed eggs with pink filling topped with salmon roe.Starer Course-Pink Cauliflower Soup with Herb Crema & Chives. "delicious."2nd Course-Fried Burata Salad on Mixed greens, Mandarin Orange, Chive, Herb Citrus Vinaigrette.Main Course-Braised Bone-in BeefShort Re, Butternut Squash Puree, Sauteed GreensRed Wine'Glage - my choice-Scarlett Spaghetti, Fried Prawns Beets Anchovy Cream Sauce, Herb- Pistou, Salmon Roe - wife choiceDessertChocolate Strawberry Cheesecake TartietWas all absolutely devine the chef completely outdone himself. We enjoyed the rest of our cocktails, spoke with the owners, and our hostess explained how beautiful and tasteful the food/atmosphere was. Thank you. We then took some photos and obviously had to get a couple of owner Terri & Beau, and waitress/hostess Melanie. They were all lovely.We will forever remember and live this place for not only their food but the exquisite service and hospitality. You 3 along with the chef had made this our best in US dining yet well done.-Review 1This is an absolutely beautiful little restaurant. So cute and quaint. We started with cocktails. The wife had a delicious Old Fashion, and I had The New Yorker.Apatizers were divine. Panko crusted squid fries and colossal shrimp that were wrapped with a spaghetti noodle that added a wonderful crunch. We also had the homemade hummus topped with red pepper puree. Beautiful texture and flavor.Entrées served to us tonight. The dish my wife had was the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon topped with a bacon jam accompanied by potato donuts and a chard side salad. The char added much depth and flavor.I had the Beet Salad that had beets, mandarin oranges, walnuts, chopped grilled chicken, and feta cheese with a lovely vinaigrette and balsamic glaze.Last but not least, a slice of fresh made keylime pie, with a cranberry raspberry drizzle and topped with a perfect amount of whipped cream.Our server Melody was an absolute gem. She was so ecentric, colorful, and well-spoken.Even the restrooms were cute and clean.I am also a bodybuilder and Supplements store owner so eating clean and healthy is part of my regular diet. State street market is hands down my favorite place to eat in Alton. The menu changes often which is great for someone like me who tends to find something I like and stick with just that so it pushes me to try new things. Every meal I have had had been phenomenal. Melanie is always amazing and can describe the food so perfectly that you can taste it before it is even at the table. Highly recommend!

We were going to the restaurant but it was closed so we went in the bar and it was very well worth it . Awesome people , the wife/owner and bartender/waitress were inside and so very friendly and they had PBR in BOTTLES which that alone would get me back . I had the BLT-A and my wife had Turkey Bacon Club ? and they were both delicious , so I ordered the BLT-A and Beet salad to go . We'll be back .

Cozy and inviting café offering a small yet appetizing menu of brunch, lunch and dinner items. The decor is charming, the staff attentive and friendly, and the food -- a delight. The meals are almost large enough to feed two, but they're so delicious you're not going to want to share! Top marks all around!

Stopped in 2 weekends in a row. It's THAT good! I'm addicted to the omelet with the chili sauce. Wish they offered another side like a potato or fruit instead of a salad but def my new favorite spot. Our waitress Emma was amazing. Conner in the kitchen brought out my eggs...FAB! Met the owners who are lovely. It's rare you see owners who are hands on...serving food and greeting tables. You guys rock! Great food and great service! Thank you

From the moment you walk in to the moment you walk out, not one second will be disappointing. The evening server, Melanie, is a class act. Without a doubt the best server I have ever seen. What a cute place! Great food! Good wine and bar list. Good service. The key lime pie is one of the best I've had. Truly key lime. Fresh salads and food. I will be back!Vegetarian options: The beet sandwich was yumo! And lots of salads.Parking: Lots of street parking and a parking lot in back.

My girlfriend and I just came here for the first time today and we are BEYOND obsessed after just one visit. Not only did we love the rustic, farmhouse and homey vibe, but the owners were there and were so sweet and they made us some DELICIOUS drinks. We sat outside and it was adorable. Onto our server…I don’t know what it was about her, but she was honestly the most radiant server I have ever had. Her smile was infectious and she was her own ray of sunshine. She made our first experience that much more positive. I believe her name was Erin. Now onto the food…I wish I could rate this place 100 stars…we started off with the farm salad and ended up ordering the Figgy Piggy Panini and the Chicken Florentine Panini with fig butter added. The ingredients were crisp and fresh in our salad and the dressing was DIVINE! Our paninis were hot and savory and were toasted to the perfect golden buttery crisp. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. We will absolutely be back. You guys deserve all the good reviews! ✨🌱🌈

We had a late lunch of 6 here and were the only ones ordering but waited a while for food, and we got some confusing feedback on availability and one of our sprites was refilled with water... The menu looked great and tasted good, but sandwiches just seemed thin of ingredients, the chips that came with were too close to Lays. The kids loved their food very much, but the apple slices were just 3-4 slivers of an apple leaving me wondering what happened to the rest of the apple. The atmosphere was awesome. I loved just eating there; just needs a couple improvements to get to 5 stars.Parking: Easy to park near the entrance.Kid-friendliness: The kids options were good, and they were very welcome.

Erin and Terry are the best .passionate about what they are doing and you can tell they want you to have a good experience . Food was top tier for the low prices and wine selection is good for anyone . Sweets to the more bold amazing Drys . The chef did absolutely amazing with the Tenderloin and carrots . · Shared with Your friendsTook a day trip to Alton, our home town, with my Cousin from NC and and 3 other family members. Her husband (93 yrs old) and wheel chair bound. And their beloved beagle. I wanted to take them to a special place for lunch. I am so grateful we found State Street Market. The food was great. The service was outstanding!!!! The staff welcomed us to use the courtyard and bring the dog too. The staff was very friendly and caring. Even brought water for Lulu. We will return and will recommend to all area family and friends. Downtown jewel.

It was a good meal and the server was phenomenal. It lost a point as my potato au gratin could have been cooked a little more, so maybe a 4.4 rating would be more appropriate

One of our new favorite places in the St. Louis metro area. The building, different dining rooms and of course the courtyard are incredibly quaint, the staff is incredibly friendly (all feels like family) and the food and drinks are heavenly! 100%, 10 out of 10, 5 stars. Love you guys!
