I don't shop there every week or anything but when I'm in that part of town I stop in there and it's always a nice store to go into I never have a hard time finding what I'm looking for which is a big deal since I don't shop there often and the staff are always nice and helpful. Not to mention the nostalgia. I mean, it's been there my entire life, and it's still doing good. Thank you for being a great part of this city for so long.

I've then going here for about 15-20 years and I can say that I'm praising them for the comfortable atmosphere they offer and the many options to do get all your errands done in one place I mean you can cash a check you can use the ATM you can get ameet water you can get groceries you can get cigarettes and get lottery and get alcohol you can gamble they also offer free beverages when you & that's a nice incentive a lot of places around here don't offer amenities of such kind..

Holy moly, the prices are high! Went in expecting it to be like an old-timey mom and pop Red Fox. Especially given the neighborhood. Instead, got hit with Trader Joe's prices for regular brands. About fell over. Back to Target.

Awesome place! Located in a quiet area, not far off of the main roads. Always friendly, small town store. They are very reasonably priced on products and also offer check cashing and bill pay services. It's not easy to compete with the big box stores but this little place doesn't seem to be going anywhere! They are obviously doing a lot of things right, and their super loyal, massive number of customers will tell you the same!

Always helpful staff!! This neighborhood deserves a mom and pop grocery that's really embedded itself in the local landscape and that's what Schwegel's has been for a very long time. With lower to average prices on most items, weekly advertised deals and the monthly meat packages they cannot be beat. Great butcher shop and dedicated employees make this one of the best!

This family owned grocery store has served the Alton and surrounding area for generations. Always quality. We shopped their first store...Pearl Market for years. How they continue to manage to meet and surpass their standards of excellent food choices and friendly service always amazes me. And they deliver! I always shop there first and foremost. There are so many "BEST" parts of living in the historic district in Alton, IL and Schwegel's grocery store is one of those treasures. This mom and pop grocery has been in the Schwegel family for decades and our neighborhood appreciates its convenience to so many who live here. This is a family owned business and is such a gem. The staff is friendly, treats every face like they are entering their place not the first time, but as a friend.I recommend Schwegel's wholeheartedly. Support small businesses, while we still have them. This one is A1 in my mind.

High prices,good brands and quality merchandise though. Not very clean, still cleaner than most little businesses around this area of Alton. The staff could work on their attitude and their Ora,they tend to put off a better than you vibe or a arrogant vibe."both the same". Don't really go above an beyond to shine or help customers. Seriously ppl work on your attitudes. You never know where u may end up In life so be humble.

They had their parking lot cleared of snow and ice better than any other store. No slushy mess either. I was able to get in and out with the basics I needed with no problem. Dog food, lunch meat and cheese all good. Nice selection for such a small store. I'll be back again. Thanks for the good experience.

Hometown place. Knew them not only at this location but the one they had in Upper Alton when I was a kid. Love this. They are awesome. If ya get any meat from there try their kabobs. They season them and are so yummy.

Schwegels is such an amazing small owned grocery store in Alton IL. As a former employee of 8 years I love schwegels, the owners, and customers! I made life long relationships with the workers and customers. They are always greeting you with a smile. Have the best meat around and fountain soda. You can always find food that no where else has! I hope they stay around forever.

This is an very popular store with the local people of Alton and the surrounding area. Is it the fair price or ( the staff ) the location? The staff is ready to deliver the deal. Just stopped over at Alton Marina on a river trip. This store offers shuttle service for boaters!!!! The kindest , friendliest place with great selection of produce and meat! Found everything I needed to stock the boat. Thanks Baby and staff! Aloha! And thanks for getting those surfer bracelets!!!!

I absolutely love this store, Everyone is always so friendly and helpful! I would much rather pay a little bit extra and go here and have great service than get a cheap price and go somewhere else where people are rude.When you walk into the store they make you feel like you're part of their family. Their shelves were well stocked, I appreciate that they have their own guys working the meat counter, and prices were lower than another retail store I had just been to. Also, they still carry Vess soda, and even have a fountain soda setup.

Best little hometown grocery store in the world... Family-owned and some of the most friendly people you will ever meet. You get to know them and they get to know you.... The best meat department around and it is old school staffed with four or five butchers.... A blast from the past
