after waiting 1520 minutes for an employee seems they were out front chatting instead of helping customers girl tried to net me up Potamus algae eater 15 minutes later after chopping his tail off she finally got them in the bag. I told her I didn’t want that one. His tail was barely hanging on, and she acted like I was being too picky, seems if you buy a fish you don’t want them cut in half time you take them home

I am beyond impressed with the grooming at Petco in Alton. I have a large male English Cream golden. We brush him and bathe him regularly but I thought why not get a good de-shed for the hotter months. We have never professionally groomed him. He was nearly unrecognizable! He was expensive as a pup and has good blood lines but looked average to me. Until he got groomed! Boy went from hood to bougie quick. There are now no curls or waves in his coat, shine all the way down his coat and feels like silk. He is lighter and zero shedding three days later. Nice work! I see the value and will be back. We could take him to a dog show and win a title the way he looks.

Kaylee, cashier was very rude...over bags, asked if I wanted one, I asked, do you charge? she said , "yes", I said "then I don't want one"...she looked at me and said "NO would have been sufficient", from there, she proceeded to give me a geography lesson, on all the Petco stores in our area who charge... grabbed my receipt and left...Still needed food, ordered it from Chewy....I am done!!!

Helpful workers, but crickets can take time to get due to low staff. Animals appear to be taken care of well and have had no issues when trying to custom order off their site.

I take my pit mix in to their grooming service for nail trimmings because they offer the nail filing service. I have hardwood floors and my dog’s nails have scratched them in several places so buffing down the nails after clipping is a must to protect my floors. It’s worth it to let the pros do it since my dog fights me for an hour every time I try. Everyone there is super sweet and nice and my dog was overjoyed at all the affection they lavished on her. Recently as a walk in, I asked if they could bath her, they were free and accepted her without an appointment. They are my go to for trimming my dog’s nails.

I have a border collie who deals with anxiety and I always have a major fear taking her into places. We are new to the Alton area and this is the second time I’ve taken her here and Shannon had my girl this time. Shannon is so sweet and just really loved my Penny and thought she was such a good girl. That makes me feel really good about bringing her back here and I definitely will be. Thanks for helping my girl :)

I can always find exactly what i need here. Heck sometime i find things for my guys they don't really need either. If I ever have a problem finding something or just have a question the staff at this store are always able and Willing to help.

I've always loved Petco. I helped open the store long ago when I was fresh out of college. But sadly, the store looks a wee bit dirty. Maybe I just know what it used to be back in the day. They always have what I'm looking for when I go there, though.

*edit- 12/30/22 Had another groom done by their stylist Ashlynne and I still can't say enough about how great these ladies are at their jobs! Please please please, visit the alton petco if you are in need of a groomer they are so amazing and always so friendly to the customers and their fur babies<3Took our 6 month old puppy to get his first full groom and I can't say enough about how pleased I am! Dez was amazing and made sure to go through and explain the whole process with us as well as making sure Pippin was as comfortable as possible and made sure we got what we wanted. We saw a previous groomer and they were very impersonal and lack luster compared to the staff at the Petco. If you need a groomer I would highly recommended the Alton Petco and their groomer Dez specifically! We will definitely be regulars(:

I absolutely LOVE Dez in the grooming salon! The only person I would trust my dog with! My dog absolutely loves her and she will do anything to make a dog feel comfortable and safe! Including letting a soaking wet 70IB dog sit in her lap to dry her. She always comes out amazing and let’s me know if anything looks like it needs to be checked out! That’s how we found out my dog had a toe with no bone in it! (Who knew?) she goes above and beyond for her animals to only do right by them. I highly recommend Dez

I ordered a 40lb bag of dog food online. When I arrived to pick up, I told the cashier I needed it loaded into my car. Cashier told me to grab a cart to get it to my car. Again I stated I needed it loaded into my car which she replied “you can’t get it in your car “. I explained that even though I look able, I have 2 rods and 9 screws in my back. Finally another worker took my dog food from the cashier and put in my car. Unacceptable
