I was going through the clearance section, I noticed that they had put a narrow price sticker over the original price. As I was going through the shirts, there was one sticker that was put on that was showing part of the original price, out of curiosity, I peeled it back to see what the original price was, it was $25 originally and their "sale" price was $45. What a scam. I won't shop at JCPENNEY's again. Buyer beware.

Did some shopping today. Staff were very helpful in finding my size & what I was looking for. All was well until check-out. That's why I rated this a 4 star. She was very insistent on applying for a store credit card & held up checking me out over this. I explained that we are debt free & plan on staying that way, but thank you for asking. After everything was rung up instead of saying the total, she became insistent over applying for a store credit card. Made my day to find what I wanted, only to be frustrated at check-out.

On 2/2/24 I visited JCP in Alton Square just before closing, I needed clothing for my grandchildren, their grandfather had a funeral the next day. The clothing was located but during the transaction, I couldn't complete my purchase, but I returned the next morning and the original cashier was off. Visited JC Penney in Alton on 12/22 and had a disappointing experience. Encountered poor customer service when I was overcharged for an Izod pullover. Despite explaining the discrepancy to the cashier, they claimed the sweaters were misplaced, refusing to honor the displayed price. This situation emphasizes the need for JC Penney to improve merchandising and communication to ensure a more positive customer experience.

I needed a dress shirt for my daughter's wedding and have recently lost 80 pounds, so I had no idea what size I was, and I went to the Men's section and talked to a very nice and knowledgeable man and told him MY needs and with just 2 measurements he handed me a shirt to try on, and not only was it a perfect fit it ended up being onsale!!!

Jc pennies is awesome! Being a big and tall man I can shop here and find everything i need no problem. Great wife gifts! Maddie Shelton helped me so much she is the absolute best. All questions answered quick and very helpful. Plus I love Jc penny credit card saves me so much money and easy to get!

Purchased another pair of work slacks and a shirt on Sunday (8-12). Normally painless. A supervisor training a new person badgered me about getting a Penny's credit card. When a customer declines the first time, don't keep trying.

I took my mother to get her hair done at the salon. She's been going there for years. We always make an appointment. This time ( the last time) they said she didn't have an appointment at all , they couldn't even find her in their system and they were booked and couldn't take her .

This JCPenny location is a good one. It isn't huge as if it were in a large city mall. The items offered for sale are plenty enough, except not completely thorough and as well stocked as its sisters stores.My only complaint, which is why I rated it 4* out of 5*, would probably be the fairly empty shoe section. Some parts of the woman's athletic shoes had just the sizes 6 and 6 1/2 regular, 7 and 7 1/2 regular, and sizes 10 and upwards. That's all. Although, being truthful, it was mostly just one designer brand that wasn't decently stocked. Ergo, the same goes for the men's section.I cannot speak for all the employees, but one kind Sir helped me out with a gift for my husband. He didn't just point me in the direction of what I was asking for or flat out tell me he didn't know or that he wasn't sure or that he couldn't help me. No, not at all. I was asking for a tie that would go with a suit my husband owns and which tie and shoes would go good, and even a shirt, if possible. This kind Sir didn't brush me off or lift his nose at me. This Sir actually helped me by grabbing the suit that closely matched the one I said my husband owns, and proceeded to get shirts, ties, and shoes that he thought went perfectly together!This employee went behind my expectations and made my experience worthwhile, which will definitely have me going back there to shop - and hopefully get his expertise again!

Came here two weeks ago for dress pants and shirt, Roe was working and he definitely goes out of his way to help his customers! He helped me pick out a few things and I was very satisfied! You look up customer service in a dictionary and Roe's picture will be next to it! Give that man a raise, he deserves it!

This is a wonderful spacious store with two levels. The store is organized and clean with great deals and prices! The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Can be a little busy on the weekend as there are very few stores in this particular mall. However you can still get in and out in a decent shopping time.

Three coats the same two were a price and the white one was higher . I asked Maria if the other was a lower price she said no cause of the color? But then she told she doesn’t make the prices and she only works here. I told her she had great customer service skills. Being sarcastic. She did not want to check into it due to almost closing time. I would have bought all three but since she didn’t want to look into the price I left it. Rudest cashier I’ve ever encountered .. just my experience

Cpou] have been a 5. The staff is very pleasant and helpful but the place simply is not handicap friendly. Only the main isle is wide enough for a wheelchair. The passageways between racks of clothing are way too tight. Also, there are no powered carts for the handicapped.

Roe, the sales associate in Men’s suits, was a 100% class act and the best I have had at customer service! Not only did I get the best services, but also a great suit at a great price. I’ll only be shopping for suits when Roe’s working!

The mall surrounding this store is in the process of "rising from the ashes" so to speak, but this store definitely is not. It's dark, and has that spooky abandoned department store feel to it. There are multiple shopping areas that are very clearly not as "important" as others, and these range anywhere from having clothing on the floor and messy shelved items to downright dirty dressing rooms. Also, if you're anything above an XL in size, good luck. You'll find a few plus-sized items here and there in the ladies section, but the actual "plus-sized" section is comprised of a few dresses in maybe 2 - 3 sizes, suit separates suitable for grandma, and almost no athletic wear. I'm used to being disappointed by size ranges for women's clothes, but this was next-level.

We purchased a new fridge from the JCP Alton location because they had a 50% off as is sale going on. That experience in itself was good. The people working upstairs were helpful and even held the item there for a week so we could get into our new home and set up transporting it there. However, it was a little different story when we picked it up 3 days later. Overall, most of the employees we encountered were nice and helpful. The young man that helped us dolly the fridge out was kind and helpful. There was one person that really ruined the experience overall. There was an older lady named Michelle who was basically rude and unhelpful. As we were ready to leave she rudely stated I needed to come in and show our paperwork before we could leave. I went to the car to grab the receipt (the only "paperwork" we received). When I get back in she had disappeared. She did not tell me where to go to show the paperwork. I waited about 15 minutes to see if she would reappear from the back stockroom. When it became apparent that she was not coming back to assist a customer, I had to go in search of someone. I found a young lady named Peyton working out on the floor. I told her the situation and she was able to get me taken care of. Peyton was so nice and helpful so kudos to her. Shame on the older employees who clearly don't care which is not good in today's struggling mall industry.

Nice JCPenney store in Alton Square Mall. I selected my items, and was asked if I needed any help. The checkout staff was helpful and quick. I live in Downtown St. Louis, and this is my go-to department store for men's casual clothes and men's dress clothes... I will be back.
