I always go for just a couple things & leave with a cart full everytime... I love the deals & cant pass them up, even though I have multiple of them already. I have been a member of the inside track club since it started & its definitely payed for itself 10 times over every year. Staff is always helpful & polite. All in all just a great place to get the necessary tools without breaking the bank lol.. A+++++

Very nice and helpful staff members. The Alton store is my go to store for just about everything I need great prices on many quality tools and products. If you purchase tools and equipment frequently the ITC inside track membership club is a must have the initial $30 spent more than paid for itself my first use the anual savings are incredible overall

I must have visited at a bad time. The check out attendant, Elizabeth asks me for my phone number. After I declined to give it to her she made a funny face at me and commented to the fella next to her that “She wanted to go home” He picked up a small calculator pointed it at me and acted like he was taking a picture of me. Weird! All I wanted to do was purchase a couple of items.

Will never shop at Harbor Freight again. We had bad storms come through here and the power was estimated to be out for a while. So we went to the Alton Illinois store to buy a generator. They were of course limited on stock so the one we decided to purchase was the $879 one. I didn't want to spend that on a generator but figured maybe Ill use it for other things. While checking out the person loading it made the comment "Hopefully the power isn't back on when you get home" to which I responded, "Honestly, if the power is back on, Im bringing this right back."The cashier then said "well there is a 20% restocking fee if you bring it back", indicating that if I return this item immediately like I said I would, there would be a restocking fee.Low and behold when we get home, here comes the power company right after us. If I knew that I could return the generator I would have got back in my truck and went straight back. However, I was under the impression that bringing it back would cost me $175 in restocking fees so I just unloaded the generator and dragged it into my garage. Since I knew I wasn't bringing it back I opened the box, pulled the generator out and set it in the garage so that I didn't have a box on the floor getting wet.Fast forward 2 days and I go to the harbor freight website to look up their return policy and I see a message that says "The re-stocking fee will be waived if any of these conditions are met:" and the first bullet point is Item is unopened and in new condition.I immediately called the store to let them know the situation, expecting them to be a reasonable company and realizing the cashier was at fault. However I was met with a store manager passing the buck and sending me to the corporate number. I got the same customer service from corporate where they informed me it was the store decision to not waive the fee and they couldn't do anything else for me.So long story long, if you buy anything from Harbor Freight, be aware that you CAN return an item as long as its not open.

This is the place to go for your major tool shopping, great prices, knowledgeable salespeople and friendly environment. They definitely have a great store and I'll be a customer for life. Becoming a part of the insiders club has been the best decision I've made. I more than doubled the membership cost in savings in one shipping trip. I highly recommend becoming a member to everyone that I know who's loves tools as much as I do.

Great Staff and very helpful!! Usually can find everything i need.. and save allot of money compared to home depot or lowes.. I became an inside track member and it paid for itself in the same visit.. I love this place.. And i love how they stand behind their products.. i have had good luck with my major purchases as well.. And often find open box deals in the front of the store.. it does take a little while for some out of stock items to be restocked.. But if they have one in the back. They will hunt it down for you if you ask.. The manager is very polite and helpful.. Great store and great team of staff.. I go there prolly once a week it seems anymore.. I recommend becoming an ISTM.. 👍🇺🇸❤️

I am not a handyman, but I can get some basic task completed. When I need new supplies/tools, my go to is HFT. All I can tell you is, for some crazy reason, I enjoy tool stores. They're like office supply stores for me, I can browse in amazement of the variety of items and what they can do.When I lived in STL, my home was fairly close to a HFT and I shopped there often. When I moved to the IL side of the river, I was thrilled to see that a Harbor Freight Tools was less than 3 miles from my home. Making it easy to run to in mid project when I need a certain gizmo or gadget. If you need it, HFT most likely will have it. They've got tools, I don't even know what to use them for - lol.I found this location, being in a small town, has a friendlier and more helpful staff. It is also kept cleaner and more organized. All of those things, makes for a more pleasurable shopping experience.

A huge selection of tools at a great price and a lot of tools have a lifetime warranty. A great store for anyone and has some variety to choose from in products. A very clean store and friendly workers that are ready to help in any way they can take a trip up to the Alton store you won't be disappointed.

If you need affordable tools this is the place to go! They have great options for both high dollar and low dollar price ranges but fair warning there are not many well known name brands there like Milwaukee or Dewalt. I love coming here in hopes of finding good deals on hand tools since I typically don't care much about quality since I don't use them too much. Definitely recommend this place if you are on a budget!

Great prices on tools with no hassle warranty on most. I've always had good service as well.Harbor Freight manufacturers most of their own tools which is why the prices are so low when compared with other places. Not all tools are created equal though so be aware of what your buying and be smart about it.

I've bought 90% of my tools here and I've always been happy. I returned a sander but I didn't realize I had paid with a gift card. The return amount the cashier quoted was less than I'd paid because she didn't include the replacement I'd bought. I said "hold on, that's less than I paid". She pointed at the screen where it said the amount and she said "it says $24.xx on your Visa ending in xxxx". I said "hang on, I don't think I have that card any more" and pulled out my wallet to make sure. Even though I'd said to wait twice, she put it through anyway, I'm guessing to get me out of the way since there was someone in line behind me. I asked to talk to the manager and I explained the situation and he just kept saying "it returned the original amount to your card" even though I told him several times I didn't have that card and that I'd asked the cashier to wait. He kept saying "it's not our problem where that card is, but we're not gonna stand here and argue". I asked for his name and the number for the corporate office. He said there isn't a corporate office, which I knew was a lie but he insisted. I know I didn't misunderstand him because I said "there's no corporate office for this chain of stores?" and he said no, as if Google didn't exist and I wasn't going to Google the number as soon as I left. Overall, I felt like I was robbed. I understand it's my fault for not realizing I'd paid with a gift card I no longer had, but after being asked to wait twice, the cashier shouldn't have put the return through anyway and the manager shouldn't have treated me like a child asking for a toy or something. I'm not even mad about the money, I'm mad about the way I was treated after shopping there for years.

All in all, good prices. You get what you get. Service, not so good anymore. I'm not sure if there was a management change or what...but customer service has definitely taken a turn for the worse. I did manage to run down an associate, once found he took good care of me. Yes, I will continue to shop there. It's still my favorite store.

I like the selection of old tools they have. Also expected to have solar panels security cameras people trying to run a business. A lot of their items are sold for real cheap, and quality I would say really good especially for the amount of money you pay. I had purchased tools, ect. for over 24 years+. Hi would recommend if you are working on your vehicle under the hood, using a more professional brand of sockets wrenches, from my experience I have broken my Knuckles quite a few times from using sockets I purchased from Harbor Freight. But I definitely will definitely will continue to purchase items from here forever.

I love Harbor Freight. I am not a contractor that may require a top of the line tool, so for my occasional use, the prices are low. The quality of the tools are great, 20 o/o off coupon, and sale prices with coupons. I do see contractors in the store as well which shows there is quality in their tools.
