We finally got a chance to visit historic Wallace & decided to eat at Blackboard Cafe. Excellent choice!😋 best place in town! We had the Italian poutine (eh?) - tasty & rich with flavor, ribeye sandwich (to die for) and mesquite chicken. Super innovative menu. Awesome service! Coffee shop & hip clothing store in the building. Come here!

On our way home, we stopped in Wallace, ID to take in the charm of the old historic mining town. We perused some antique shops and then popped in to Blackboard Cafe for some grub.I had the Chicken Schnitzel sandwich and an Amber Ale brewed in Kellogg. Oh my goodness... hand-dipped, pan-fried lightly breaded chicken cutlet... a chutney that garners 15 or so ingredients, so the chef told me. I told him he didn't have to tell me all 15, but please confirm if I'm tasting tamarind. Yes!My boyfriend had the Swiss Burger and Samuel Smith's Chocolate Stout. Finished off his delectable meal with a White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake that he will never forget... "the best cheesecake he's ever had..." unrivaled airy-fluff without losing the flavor of high quality cream cheese.WOW!! We will return to try more food from this menu. Absolutely top notch flavors, every single layer. This is classicly-trained, chef-quality layers of flavor, perfectly cooked everything! Even the French Fries and aiolis we dipped them in were incredibly divine!

The Blackboard Cafe wasn’t our first choice for dinner while visiting Wallace, but we’re so glad it was one of the only options open because it was some of the best food we’ve had yet!First, the ambiance created by the candles and lights was calming and quiet.Next, we enjoyed the fresh, airiness of the garlic bread. The marinara sauce added a fun tang to it. Both pasta dishes, chicken alfredo and shrimp scampi, were delicious. Last, my husband ordered a mocha (because why not) and he drank the whole thing before our meal was finished.The service was also friendly and timely. We’d HIGHLY recommend!

If this old building could talk...Man the stories I bet it could tell. The wall to wall old orginal wood floors, brick work, and huge picture windows that wrap the entire room make me want to stay longer than it takes to eat my meal. 😉 The story this old building is telling now is one where the service is great and the food with it's little flavor twists is even better. The menu at first seems regular but with a second look you see it's eclectic, which I loved. If ya want a burger, they have it, fries, yes, but they also have chicken schnitzel and lobster reubens. All of these items have a little flavor twist that I haven't found in other places yet. All the things I tried here were great. I'll definitely make a drive to come back here. OH, almost forgot to tell you...upstairs they have a game room. Pool table, chess, other games and big oversized chairs and couch wait for you to hang out a bit before or after you eat. There is also a book store and clothing shop all inside the same building. Fun place to eat and hang out.

I was passing through Wallace this evening and stopped at the Blackboard Cafe for dinner. Not really expecting much out of my meal and experience i was amazingly surprised by the quality of the food, the guest service and the atmosphere of this amazing dining location. I cannot say enough about my experience. It was absolutely outstanding and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a wonderful meal. Next month when I'm back in Missoula, MT I will make the +100 mile trip just to have dinner here again.

✨ Highly recommend this amazing restaurant for lunch!! Their milkshakes are the best - anywhere around!!! The service is excellent. I have no pictures, because we wolfed our food down, lol. I have an incredible lobster Caesar salad and my son had the fish and chips. They were so amazing, I wish we could go back for more!!! Also, very delicious baked goods!!! A MUST STOP while in Wallace, ID.

What a great restaurant with some amazing Italian food. We came here for dinner and were pleasantly surprised at how delicious our meals were. We had the garlic bread appetizer, steak and mushroom fetticinni, sausage fettecunni in a vodka marinara sauce, tiramisu for dinner. All were great!Our server was very friendly and nice. The atmosphere was open and fun. What a great gem to the town of Wallace.

A great cafe/dining place in Wallace. The times I visited for coffee I had a relaxing time browsing through books and eating my pastry. The last time I went was for dinner with my family and all the food was great. We had the artichoke dip, caprese salad, I had the fish and chips and a couple of beers and of course coffee and cheese cake for dessert. Nice place, lovely atmosphere and friendly people.

Loved the environment of this place!! Staff was incredibly helpful with questions on the menu and all staff at the restaurant, bookstore, and cafe always had a warm smile. My son loved interacting with everyone, especially when he was playing on the floor with his trucks. Food was delicious, unique, and filling. I would definitely recommend it to anyone as it will please all family members, young and old. Can't wait to return again someday with my son on vacation. 😃

This is the second time this restaraunt hosted our group. That is 20 customers who left very very happy. Compliments for the delicious food, service and ambience. Generous servings. No one left hungry. A relaxed and inviting open atmosphere. I look forward to returning here again. Definitely a thumbs up to the restaraunt and their staff. They were awesome!

Drove to Wallace for the day and decided to have lunch here at the Blackboard Cafe. So glad we did. The food was amazing and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. I had the Filet Mignon sandwich which was very good. My wife had the Chicken Caprese Sandwich which she enjoyed as well. We will definitely be making a trip back soon for their dinner menu. Also, the music being played while we there was great.

This place was great! I asked for some minor adjustments to my sandwich, lettuce wrapped vs bun and they happily obliged with no up-charge. The staff was super sweet, the chef was pleasant to guests but not so much to his staff. It’s in the wide open so I was slightly taken aback because I could hear and see his exchange with them. Other than that the food was on par, the shop and bakery adjacent to it were just precious. The diner area was a little loud.

Love this Restaurant in Wallace, ID! The owners are the lead chef and his wife who helps serve. Scratch cooking is so amazing. Our server sits down beside you to take your order and talk about the menu. She loves her job, she gets questions answered- like what types of mushrooms were in the mushrooms small plate. Great atmosphere, amazing food, locals and passers through all love this place!Dinner starts at 5 pm with some Italian theme. I had Fettuccine Alfredo with meatballs, hubby had lamb & mashed potatoes. We both loved our meals.. I think the pasta was even homemade. They close around 3 pm for a couple of hours to gear up for dinner. Delicious desserts too. A multitude of milkshake flavors! Must stop and eat here.

Super friendly service. Excellent and uncommon food selection - house made lobster corn dogs!! Parsnip soup was excellent. Extensive beer selection. The attached coffee and gift shop was great to stock up on gourmet munchies.

We were seated in a comfortable, bustling restaurant and ordered within a few minutes. One hour later we still had not received our food. By this time the restaurant was empty except for another couple that we later saw eating lunch at a different spot. I guess they were smarter than us and gave up. When the food arrived it was quite good but didn't get rid of the bad taste in our mouth. Our bill was discounted 50%.

I have been driving through Wallace, Idaho for 27 years, where evolution of the town takes its time, unlike anywhere else in the country. Truly, it captures everything I miss about down home culture. There have been small bars and antique stores that I hated to see close but something inevitably pops back up. Wallace somehow has managed to find itself with a nice higher end cafe at a corner location with a lot of windows and light. Simple but comfortable. Or, on the other side of the wall, connected to the business, grab a latte, sandwich and cheesecake, to go. The sandwiches are excellent and displayed by a short menu on a chalkboard above the register. To add another dimension, take your coffee to yet another connected area which is a bookstore. I Love this entire concept. Reminds me of the posh areas of Georgetown in Washington DC without the pretentious feel or high price tags. Enjoy.

We visited for dinner on a Sunday night towards the end of the evening. We dined at a sidewalk table in the last of the sunlight. The food was delicious and service delightful.Our group had the mussels, cheeseburger, osso buco, summer salad and lemon pesto pasta. The mussels were probably the overall favorite but everything was worth every bite. Service was prompt and friendly; highly recommend if you're in Wallace!
