SAD—ordered 1st custom hat over 1 year ago. Finally got my hat. DIDN’T FIT. TOO LARGE. Called Roy and explained the problem. He said so sorry, yours is the correct color??? Yes. He said ivy got another one size & color is wrong. He said I’m just making sure. Roy said send it back and we will fix it. I sent measurements as instructed, & returned. Got it back and a thin piece of foam was placed in the hatband, and still didn’t fit. I called Roy back and he said“the girl tried to slip this by me. I do not do this type of work. Please send it back and I will get this fixed”.HAT SENT BACK AGAINAfter two weeks I called and asked for Roy the lady that said I’m the master hatter what do you need. So, I explained. She said she knew nothing about it. I explained the whole situation again.She said “ you have to understand Roy is old”. OMG THIS WAS SO WRONGShe then says he has been sick and in the hospital. She would have to look into this. “Roy doesn’t come in any more.”Another week and nothing.I call again Roy answers the phone. We talk for a spell as we are the same age. (Remember I’m supposed to understand Roy is old. WOW. )I tell Roy that I would like my $$ back.Roy said “I’m so sorry about this I’ll have to work with the girls as this is not how I run my business “.Roy said he would send a check. He did for the remainder of the balance but not the deposit. So, I called again & was lucky to get Roy. He said that he would get the $100 deposit in the mail.Another week goes by. I call again, and of course am told Roy doesn’t come in much anymore. I explain and she said she would send the money that day.Another week and nothing.I call back again—of course I’m told Roy doesn’t come in anymore. This lady says we don’t return deposits.I explain that none of this was my fault. She rudely says we never give deposits back. I explained that I was told twice they would.“Well I’ll have the other owner call you, but we don’t give deposits back and never have”.Two weeks later and no call.This is so sad as I’ve purchased hats from Roy and great service.I guess I need to understand this is how the younger generation feels about it.I know Roy and this is not the business it was he would run.Sorry for the business es as it was great.This seems to be the only way to reply to these folks. As there response is not acceptable.The making of this that is their fault. I did everything to make this work.Again, I was told I would get my deposit back as ROY EXPLAINED, this was not how he does business.Therefore, again please send my deposit. I don’t need any more excuses, if you would like me to stop reviewing the work being done now that Roy isn’t overseeing the operation.Refund ASAP

I purchased both a straw hat in person and felt hat virtually and have nothing but the best to say about quality of the hats and the quality of the service. You can tell Roy and his staff work at a deliberate pace to make sure you get what you want and then some. 100% recommend either experiences (virtually or in-person) and am grateful for the small business personable experience and top quality hats. A true and unique experience I havn't found elsewhere.

Not the shopping experience we hoped for. Loud music playing with two women singing along while sweeping and vacuuming while we tried to shop. Not the personal touch we traveled all the way to Salmon for.

Over the years, I have bought a half dozen hats from Roy and company and they just do not disappoint. The only drawback is that you really have to up your game on the proper doffing of the hat to the ladies in order to properly thank them for the compliments!
